upload speed

~Im in Belf area, upload speed was due to increase to 3 meg on the 30meg service on the 11th

Had a look at my hub status

any advice as to what could be causing the issue, I diabled most settings on the hub, firewall etc but cant see what the problem would be.
thanks

Re: upload speed

You do have the 3Mb upload.

Have you disabled ip flood detection.

Try another server.

Re: upload speed

yeah ~I disabled that as well but no luck, everything to me looks normal...Nothing else connected, Im hard wired into the router? Been trying other servers with no luck.

I know the D-link had qos which cause issues as upload speed was capped but cant see anything like that on the hub.

Re: upload speed

It may be an area fault if other servers are giving similar results.

Re: upload speed

Phoned up and the excuse is due to high use in your area is the reason why im getting 1.5 meg

I said well the speed is like that all the time, during the night, day, evening... Try to get it raised as a fault but they wouldnt except it..So what am I suppose to do?

Re: upload speed

m8 i had same problem since christmas i only just got the 5 mb upload increase on the 16th after ring constantly for over a month plus the fact the high area usuage causes me to get lag while gaming and that been going on for months and they are only just starting to fix it now untill more ppl complain m8 u not gonna get it fixed

Re: upload speed

Its like the speed is capped, surely if usage was an issue then download would be affected as well not forgetting their is a traffic management policy which should help ease congestion things like throttling bit torrent etc

Re: upload speed

run a pingtest.net, if your upstream in area has high utilisation it will show up on that test for sure.

if pingtest.net comes back as grade A whilst you have low upload speedtest results I am not convinced of that been the reason, especially if it stays low at 4am to 8am. In my view 4am-8am is off peak, in my experience 7am is quieter than 1am.

Re: upload speed

Sephiroth made a good thread about this on the VM support forums, something about the CMTS had been running in the wrong mode, thus incapable of giving you the increased upload speed. Took a few months of prodding to get the engineers to figure it out and admit it though.

mini slot size I thing qas

---------- Post added at 08:59 ---------- Previous post was at 08:57 ----------

edit I meant to say I think it was something to do with the mini slot size qas, either way its probably being artificially restricted until vm can see the true impact on the network, and if and when safe to do so will turn the tap up and allow full warp speed

Re: upload speed

mini size slot of 1 was still able to exceed 3mbit tho and it may only be a 50mbit specific issue.

Who knows, but I still think its a deliberate restriction, which when you think of it makes sense to slowly introduce an upstream increase, rather than VM doing the usual running before they can walk.

My area seemed to be done this way since last Friday, and for the first time I was maxing at 4.8 ish Mbps on speedtest.net prior to that it was limited to 3.7mbps.

On Friday I also noticed a significant reduction in Jitter which also led me to believe that something had been restricting the upstream.

I wont argue with that, its entirely possible.

same as me 2ms :)

those what you posted is fine (apart from speed) and in my view its not down to congestion. I suggest posting on the VM community forums as I think you will be wasting time on the phone support.

@darkm

i am on the BELE hub and am having no probs with my 50Mbit download and 5Mbit upload. Are you BELC or BELE? i haven't updated my sig picture BTW

Re: upload speed

im in Belf9 if that make sense. The area was due the updrade on feb 11 so im assuming that happen since my config on the hub says 3meg up.

I did also connect my original router to the superhub and try using that but the speed results where the same. Although it could still be a configuration error on the modem.
