Re: Is your sub worth it?
basic sub is fine, I am questioning whether I want/need the second box, I'd love to upgrade it, but the cost/benefit doesn't work for me, just now :)

Re: Is your sub worth it?
I'm on VIP50 and to be honest, most of my viewing is BBC4 / BBC2 and BBC1. The only sub channels I watch are the Discovery channels and Sports occasionally. Mind you, the kids watch Disney, film channels, music channels and the Broadband is well used so it all balances out I guess.

Re: Is your sub worth it?
Not at all in my opinion.
I dropped the payment chanels three years ago when I could get FreeView, mainly because we watch BBC1/2/4 and Channel 4. So now I have the free channels only and also have access to on demand and PPV films. The rest of the line up of channels seem to be repeats of stuff. I use Virgin BB and that is my main reason for remaining. I have a basic phone line thrown in but never ever use it. I now use FreeView HD and that covers the same channels that I watch the most. Costs nothing! |

Re: Is your sub worth it?
at present yes but its going to be bordering no soon thanks to sky.
My main watching film 4 virgin 1 living as chuck moved there and watching nikita FX scifi bravo take virgin 1, bravo away and scifi/fx are only premium left I watch. I will probably still pay as I still get HD and watch NCIS I am finding it hard to justify it no doubt others having same thoughts wondering as we lose quality subscription channels. I hope virgin listen that they need to look at its strategy. Tell sky to sling there hook they broke the contract and bring out more own branded channels. I would tell them ditching bravo, virgin 1 is direct breach of there shabby contract therefore virgin will relaunch said channels. I just cant see it ever working be a platform provider not having security for when sky play dirty again. You cant concentrate on broadband alone and shaft TV even vod weakened due to selling channels losing content. Yes you can have the best PVR with this pending tivo deal but they goto beef up getting serious on providing premium channels. |
Re: Is your sub worth it?
If you only watch NCIS you'd be better off buying them from iTunes or the DVD's (albeit they're going at FIVE pace on those).
You'd save yourself a bundle. |
Re: Is your sub worth it?
A lot of people on this forum download the US series and watch them on the American timeline

Well I don't think they discuss Movies and Music downloads preferring to keep it on the QT. ;)

Re: Is your sub worth it?
I'm on VIP50 and have to say I feel I'm getting pretty good value for what I'm paying. Forget TV and broadband, my biggest saving comes from the various deals on telephone calls in this package. I'm very rarely over £7.00 worth of telephone calls in the month. Before VIP I was about £40.00 to £50.00.

Re: Is your sub worth it?
It's all horses for courses. I would like my sub to be reduced, and would love to be able to pick and choose what channels to have, but as has been said, this will never happen.
However, I do like to have the choice available. One persons likes is another persons dislike etc |
Re: Is your sub worth it?
As I am staff my sub is worth it, even if I wasn't staff it would be worth it as I like the choice I have with my XL TV package as for VOD I do use it regularly.

Re: Is your sub worth it?
I like to have the choice. I don't need 50mb, but not being throttled at peak times for normal downloads justifies it for me.

Re: Is your sub worth it?
Meatball Mariana on hearty Italian bread with lettuce, tomatoes and chilli sauce - that sub is definitely worth it ;)
Just kidding, XL TV is perfect for my family as we heavily use the on demand and music on demand service. Also it's so that there's no monthly charges with the V+ :) |
Re: Is your sub worth it?
My BB and XL TV are definately worth it.
Sky Sports is ok for me but without the red button it is a limited service. If we don't get 100% red button like Sky customers do then I would be willing to keep my BB and move to Sky for TV as I could probably live without on demand and I don't care much for HD so won't be paying for that. Plus Youview is looking quite decent for catch up on demand tv as well so that is another advantage Virgin would lose over its competitors. |
Re: Is your sub worth it?
I used to think so but now I am doubting it after looking at skys packages. If only I was closer to the asdl exchange i would move. Reducing from 50mbit to "should be able to get 2mbit" just scares me.
How much of a discount do you staff get by the way?? ;) |

Re: Is your sub worth it?
I get TV XL, 50mb BB and a fairly basic phone line all for about £70 per month. Is it worth this price....no not in my opinion. I would be happy paying £50 for it, but I feel forced into paying this premium to get working internet (been down the 10 and 20mb internet road before and had peak time issues).

Re: Is your sub worth it?
