Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
So its all the fault of someone who is dead and a referee that retired 12 years ago.
I knew tinfoil was in high demand in the east end of Glasgow but assumed it was the heroin and not to fashion hats with. |
Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
so why dont they get some english referee to do the job
or will they be called scabs. not for being a ref but for being english :D |

Celtic (and Rangers) have always had a small unsavoury element in their support. In the last year or so the celtic minority have become more and more vocal and disturbing with the IRA supporting chants and songs, smoke flares, attacking of stewards and general hooliganism becoming more and more evident. Their dispute of every decision that goes against them whilst mysteriously staying quiet on decisions in their favour isn't doing them any favours. |

Still I suppose it could all be a huge conspiracy with referees like Iain Brines wearing celtic tracksuits to training sessions just to throw people off the scent... |

When they won 9 in a row were the masons deciding to give them a break? Mysteriously the years they are on top there hasn't been a wholesale change of referees. Mistakes happen in football, thats a given. If you dwell on the mistakes against you whilst ignoring the ones in your favour then a section of your support will always jump on the conspiracy bandwagon. |
Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
Looks like the games might go ahead with foreign refs.

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
as a celtic supporter i am still disgusted of the ref who ref that ill match an got away with murder he is a lucky man; i cant seam 2 get my head around it why he has not been sack yet for breaking rules for LIEING, that game could of cost us the league for goals scored; on another note Dallas resign for being a bigot i have been hearing hearing he actually got the sack for gros misconduct if this the case why is that ref still in the ranks??

Murder? I missed that. Assuming you are talking about the Dundee Utd game he actually got the penalty decision right but let's not let that get in the way of a witch hunt. Bigot? He forwarded on a mildly amusing email of questionable taste, hardly bigoted. I assume in your wanting everyone sacked for bigotry you'd be happy for Neil Lennon to be fired for the time he called a rangers player a dirty orange *bleep*? Anyway back to reality. Some games are going ahead with foreign refs, some have been binned due to the weather and in one of the games the fourth official is female so any injuries could see a top flight game ref'd by a woman for the first time ever. :) |
Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
the bigot for dallas its to do with email he made very sad comments about the pope
the penalty was a penalty the keeper got the player not the ball linesman said it was that ill ref said no when he said yes an if 1 of new refs make a mistake what's going 2 happen to them do they get the sack? |
Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
He (allegedly) forwarded on an email making comment on the Catholic church covering up child abuse. Similar jokes have been on Have I got news for you, the front cover of private eye and countless other forms of media.
Should everyone making jokes about religion be fired? Maybe you would like to answer my question about Lennon? The penalty was a penalty? Not according to most journalists and the SFA is wasn't Quote:

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
as i said before if it was not a penalty
then why did he not book the player for diving |
Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
Because it's not an either/or situation?
|
Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
can sense why we cant attract any more big names to any of the clubs in spl
think the big spending days are over to be honest |

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
I fully support the referees for going on strike, I am a referee on Sunday, and yet l haven't done a game in months, simply due to the aggro you get from players, which is uncalled and l only get paid £30 per game.
I am certain that pro refs get a great deal more, there is a major problem in all football matches, what happened in Scotland is a disgrace, l saw this game and the ref was put under so much pressure from the Celtic players, and it didn't help when Lennon started slagging off the fourth official, clubs have to remember, without the refs, no one would get a game. The SFA is a disgrace for bringing in scab refs, they should have taught the big babies, ie Celtic and Rangers, a lesson in respect to the officials and heavily fine them. The SFA should hold the head in shame, that this aggro continues, remember its the League that controls football NOT the clubs. |

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
wonder how many times rangers got away with extra minutes in a game when they should of been just 1 minute being added...
the extra refs from other countries is a joke to be honest we have plenty of good ref's in other division's an give them a change 2 ref a game in the spl sfa is a joke an were still awaiting an answer from them |

Perhaps you'd care to give examples of times when Rangers have benefited from far longer on the clock than the officials have held up? |

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
I suppose Rangers are all innocent then, they don't cuase any problems, they dont go banana's at decisions.
If you ask me most of the aggro in Scottish football is cuased by the big two, maybe they should allow the games to go ahead without officials, so they can beat the crap out of each other, with the hatred that goes on between each club. |

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
Yes, l have been to TWO Old firm matches, and l will NEVER go again, l am married to a Glaswegion, And being a Londoner, it was disgusting, standing in the crowd and having urine running down your leg, from a fellow supporter stand near me, and standing in urine and the smell.
When you came out of the ground the fear of getting a smack from the foul language coming from rival fans, and l have been to Parkhead and Rangers grounds, when you go into the town Centre, the fear that you have to make sure where you look. I have been invovled in aggro in the past, but that going to those game puts the fear in you, to show how bad it gets, l bought a Rangers shirt for a member of the member, he set fire to it. So you don't have to tell me anything about these clubs. |
Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
So no time in the last 15 years then...
|
Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
a) Glaswegian, not Glaswegion
b) and how long ago was this, Arthur? - it's been a while since people stood at football matches c) what's a "member of the member"? |

Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
I have a strange feeling that some members don't people having a go at Celtic and Rangers clubs.
Both these clubs have troublesome fans, you only have to look at the disgraceful behaviour at the Celtic fans who were having a go a the Armed services, I have a great deal of repect for clubs who bring there players under control, and some of the games that l have been between these clubs, it is crunch all the way. I thought Spurs / Arsenal games were bad, but my god. |
Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
Some of the Celtic fans, Arthur, some of the Celtic fans........
(and in my opinion, totally disgusting behaviour - but that's just an ex-forces Glasgow Catholic's opinion) |
Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
Anyway away from the rights and wrongs of Old Firm fans the referee at the centre of all the controversy has 'retired'
|
Re: Scottish refs vote to strike
The respect that should be showed to officials of football matches is appalling in my view, and l am as much to blame, and l am a ref.
A major fault is that officials are not consistent enough, and an idea that the Stoke manager came up with, they should do to officials, as what happens with the clubs. If the they don't perform, at the end of the season - relegate them to the lower leagues, but l believe the prem refs are run by a company, and the champ is run by the league, the same as scottish football - what does members think. |
