I doubt the thugs who rioted yesterday (and their ilk) know or care anything about all the sacrifice which went into confering on them the rights they so abused. |

I have a poppy on my phone again this year (£5) which is fine, although I did keep being asked while I was at my group yesterday why I didn't have one. So I ended up getting a physical one too.

2 minutes' silence was perfectly observed here in the centre of Leicester by people of all colours and faiths.

They fought and fell to allow idiots like those to have the freedom to be idiots - let us focus on those who have fallen, not those who would sully their sacrifice, please.

I was driving home after being delayed at an appointment. I pulled over to the side of the road and was pleasantly surprised to see several other drivers had done the same.

My Great Grandfather fell at the second battle of Ypres, and his body was never recovered, but my mother has told us that his wife liked to believe that it was him buried in West Minster Abbey, no doubt along with countless other grieving people all over the Commonwealth who believed the same.

Just been to the remembrance parade at Bridge Foot in Warrington. It looked a good turn out this year. :tu:
It was sad to hear the names of five young men from Warrington who are to be added to the list of those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. |

The nicest touch was the poems that the children from the local Juniors had written which they read for us.Some thoughtful contributions from them.Quite powerful for their age. Apart from the count I guess that's it until next year.As that will be 11/11/11 I guess they will make it a really special one. |
