What do you drive?

1 Attachment(s)
I couldn't find a 'what do you drive' thread so decided to create one as i am sure it will be interesting to find out what our members drive if anything.

I splashed the cash and bought an Astra VXR a few weeks ago which i am loving, even the fuel economy is better than i thought it would be at 30.7mpg! Although for a while it did feel like i had a fuel leak everytime i drove it! :D

06 reg Fiesta 1.4 and 56 Peugeot 107 - great little cars for our round town driving, and very economical; if we need anything bigger, or are going on longer journeys, we hire something appropriate.

(but I tend to catch public transport (bus) to/from work).

My wheels are currently an 53-plate Audi A6 Sport TDi - Just wish it was manual sometimes :(

I'm looking at changing it soon for something with a bit more space in the boot, as my other half has a wheelchair and an estate would be much better.

Erm, approximately LOL MPG ;)

Focus does about 20 around town with 99 octane and 25-30 on a motorway run

The Integra, about 20 on country roads and on track I've never even bothered working it out. Around town you just get idiots in Corsas and Clios trying to race you so seeing as it's not my daily driver I steer well clear so not sure what the urban cycle would be. Before the mods I seem to remember it being around 28 urban and 35 on the odd occasion I ventured onto the motorway in it.

Most of my driving is motorways and country roads so i haven't yet had chance to find my economy on city driving, but im well please with 30.7 as i was expecting around 27mpg which would add another £25 a month to my fuel bill.

That's very good actually for the nutty amount of power the VXR has. The ST is a bit nose heavy tbh with the 5 cyl Duratec and overall the car is a wee bit heavier (about 40kg I think) than the Astra so that's reflected partly in the poorer fuel economy.

The only thing I've found with the modern hot hatches I've driven is that the gearboxes tend to lend themselves towards economical driving which is what you've no doubt found with being able to squeeze 30mpg but when you're really giving it some beans on a track day it can be a little bit unfulfilling.

Currently drive a 2001 Renault Clio 1.2 Petrol In blue. It has a leaky roof, a haunted rear window wiper, a phantom fog light indicator, it permanently thinks the drivers door is open and the drive shafts knock on corners..... EDIT: And the High level brake light is faulty.

Hoping to upgrade to a 2004 Xsara Picasso 2.0 Diesel sometime soon, any takers on the clio? :D

Thats on the older ones apparently. We actually know where the leak is in mine, its coming from the sunroof and the front corner of the passenger side of the windscreen. Just dont have the time to do it and wont pay a garrage £200+ to do a job that will take me and a friend 2hrs at the most +£15 worth of materials. Its all taped up at the moment, looks horrible but at least its dry :D

Thats the one, and the Seals which aren't sealed.
Really don't want to buy French again after the clio but that being said it has only failed to start once in the 5 years I have had it and that was a worn out battery. I also really want a Picasso and that means buying French again unless someone can suggest an equal priced alternative? The Picasso I have been offered is £2,200. Want it for the boot size, high driving position and the large back seats for various kids in the family.

Well I'm not but they let gays in these days. They also let in women, blacks and Muslims which upsets the daily mail no end.

Anyway for what I drive, 8 miles or so to/from work when not cycling and occasional runs to the other side of the city it does me fine. £35 a year road tax, cheap insurance and very economical.

Proper Car:

92 Lotus Elan Turbo: Rebuilt from chassis up from two written off motors 5 years ago. Multiple updates and upgrades to keep her quicker than the hot hatch brigade. Best 0-60 of 5.8sec which is near impossible to beat in another FWD car and runs out of gears at 150mph. Once she gets traction she can drag most stock Scoobies and Evo's whilst being bloody good in the corners (Best handling FWD car of her generation)

MPG is 30 with a heavy foot and 40 on the motorway. Its much more comfortable than modern Lotus and has a decent boot for a sports car. Build quality is suspect but that can be forgiven as shes hand built and such bloody good fun.

Only downside was that my first one tried to kill me!! Hence the hoops in the last picture.

Sensible car is a boring 2000 Renault Laguna.

I had a fork truck licence before I had one to drive a car - the fork truck course took a week -prolly lapsed, now??

I currently drive a Ford Focus 2.0 Tdi 'Titanium' supplied to me as a 'company car' - fuel consumption readout says 50.7 mpg atm.

Mrs Gaz drives an Honda Jazz - her fuel mileage is at least 48 mpg - unleaded.
