I do want to install the latest one but it comes up with a registeration key and its does not like it and I cannot delete it. When I went to "Uninstall Programs" its still listed there but I cannot remove it as it cant find some of the files.

Another option would be to uninstall it using something like revo uninstaller, get the free version, it will get rid of it and clean out all the files avg leaves behind, job done..

http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_..._download.html

Handy for any program you don't want / like anymore..

Some virus and trojan infections will attempt to disable well-known AV programs. If you don't know how this happened I'd recommend you check your system carefully once you have the current problem sorted.

I had installed the latest version then I had instaleld something that I needed to so a system restore and so it had uninstaleld the latest version so left me without a virus protection.

filehippo.com is a good source for free software and lots of previous versions of software as well.

I am using AVG Free Version 2011

I have always used AVG since version 7 after my McAfee sub expired

I updated from AVG 9 without problems and AVG 2011 does not slow my PC down

I suppose it all depends on your PC spec and what you are running

Re: Where can I find a copy of AVG 9.0?

indeed it is, but AVG free is very limited.
it should be used in conjunction with other software.

I personally use Norton 2011 and its sitting using 8mb ram.
what does AVG free use just for its footprint?

Re: Where can I find a copy of AVG 9.0?

My avg is using 2.5mb of ram at the moment, and is very light even when running a whole disk scan.

Re: Where can I find a copy of AVG 9.0?

good stuff, but like I say, the free one is JUST a virus scanner. how much ram is your other online protection using in conjunction?

It's not, it's Anti-Spyware as well http://free.avg.com/gb-en/product-comparison

but no ID protection, no firewall.
oh well, i guess it depends on how much you value your personal details online aswell as the contents of your computer.

over the past few years I've used BitDefender, PC Cillin, Norton 2009/2010/2011, Kaspersky 2011, NOD32, Eset Smart Security and a few more.

My own personal Choices are Eset, Norton and Kaspersky.
they all do a very good job in their current incarnations....and I say that as someone who spent around 10 years hating Symantec products
