If I'm a (not allowed to be discussed) just for me thinking that David Cameron is a hero for fixing the country, then I can't help it if you voted labour.

This is not a political discussion, back on topic please

Re: Heroes

Can I just point out this thread is about individuals and groups who have done something extraordinary, not about politicians doing what they are paid for.

It would have helped if you gave your definition of a hero and what you want them to be. such as you only want the usual war and life saving heroes?

I was assuming that people would use common sense.

Well I can think of a few that don't count as heroes because they get paid for doing the job? and in some cases their actions were to be expected.

Hugh 23-10-2010 17:40

Re: Heroes

Good for you - rather than being negative, why not let others be positive about those they regard as heroes; you appeared to have missed where I posted "this thread is about individuals and groups who have done something extraordinary".

Gary L 23-10-2010 17:43

Re: Heroes

I don't think I'm being negative. I genuinely regard Cameron as a hero. but now I know the rules that he's not accepted as the right criteria.

A heroic soldier from Shropshire has received the George Cross for defusing three bombs whilst trying to save the lives of five injured colleagues in Afghanistan.

Kim Hughes’s citation says he was responsible for the “single most outstanding act of explosive ordnance disposal ever recorded in Afghanistan”.
and

Lisa Potts
Quote:

she had a full class of eighteen children under her care and many remained outside. Campbell was now amongst the children, so Lisa rushed back outside to them. She took the brunt of the attack, shielding the screaming children cowering in her skirt. As she put her hand up to protect a small girl from Campbell's wild swinging with the blade, he slashed at the child's face, cutting both Lisa's hand and the girl. Lisa tucked the youngster under her arm and ran indoors, where most of the children were - except for one boy, who Campbell turned on, cutting him across the head. Lisa ran back outside three more times to rescue that boy and the remaining children, and once all were safe inside she shut the door to the classroom. Campbell however, forced open the door and started to attack Lisa with the blade, slashing her back as she defended the children
