I've always had good results with Sansa, I have the Sansa Clip 4Gb version (with micro SD slot). I found it at Currys for a bargain £25 a few months ago. Amazon have got it but now it's £37.40 http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Sans...6613744&sr=1-8

I've got a Sansa Clip. The sound quality is great. Would highly recommend one.

Another vote for Sansa. I have the Fuze with a small screen and the wife and son have a Clip. Great sound quality on both.

I've been using a Creative Zen for about three or four years, never had a problem with it. It holds photos and document as well.

Creative zen has always been good for me. My mates got a sansa - you won't go wrong with that either.

Yes, it's charged via USB. I think it needed an eight hour charge first time as it was almost flat. Now it takes a couple of hours to top up and will run for up to 15 hours.

What ever Mp3 player you go for, try and get some decent earphones as that is the thing most likely to affect the quality of the sound.

Another vote for the SansaClip+. Bought the 8gb one for my daughter last Christmas & she seems to like it. Here's a link to the forum, http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/Clip-Cl...p/clipplusclip Some people seem to have some issues with them, but fingers crossed no problems here.

I also bought one of these to charge from mains, http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=227636 , (was half price at the time) works fine, and a pair of these http://uk.store.creative.com/product...=437&pid=11397

I had the CX 400-II before changing to the following

I use a pair of Ultimate Ears MetroFi 220 for everyday use
http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...s/Product.html Play.com always sell them at great prices

and for special listening I have a pair of Ultimate Ears Studio 3

http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/ulti...rodid-319.html Cost me £85 when I got them, sound off them is amazing though.

Still using the original zen micro. :)

It's on it's second battery, runs for about 12 hours.

Why is it that whenever one wants to purchase an MP3 supported product, it is for iPOD only?

For example, car stereos, kitchen radios etc. If you want to have a direct connection to these products, for example, menus displays etc. generally speaking they are only compatible with iPODs.

Big Wrong there dude, in fact i would say with car stereo's you are less likely to be able to find one where an ipod works than a standard mp3 player, at least you don't need that stupid itunes , any stereo with either a USB port or headphone jack will work with an mp3 player, not all will work with an ipod so all in all you are better off not getting an ipod and being trapped with using their horrible program, and no i'm not being biased as i have an iphone

Re: MP3 Players

I know that one can plug USBs and headphone jacks in all kinds of places, but I am referring to dedicated ports in sound bars and stereos etc. that are specific to iPODs. I can stick wires everywhere to Sunday, but it won't make the MP3 stand up in the recess, nor will it make the remote control work or bring up the display on the screen.

Fair enough but you wouldn't buy an iPod dock if you didn't have an iPod so it has no meaning

But there are no, or very few, alternatives. None that work as well as those made specifically for the iPOD. My point is, I am getting fed up with having to jury-rig connections etc. to get only part usability. Why can't manufacturers offer a comparable product?

I am not expecting anyone to come up with a sensible answer, I'm just ranting. :)

im confused to where this has lead to. I asked for someone to recommend a MP3 Player, what the hell has it got to do with Ipod and car stereo compatibility?

OK, well to get back on topic, my vote would be another Zen.

I'll second that. Much better than an iPod IMO, and it supports more files and (mine, anyway) has expandable memory.

Point taken, although the thread was just entitled "MP3 Players." ;)
