<cynical mode on> Sounds like a stunt to me, getting lots of free publicity by being "provocative" <cynical mode off> |
Re: Pregnant nun ice cream advert banned for 'mockery'
Is it offensive because the nun looks like she's having a baby, or the fact that a nun must have had sex?

Well the advert says "Immaculately Conceived" - the only other Immaculate Conception, according to the bible was Jesus, so it's just a play on words, nothing more. |
Re: Pregnant nun ice cream advert banned for 'mockery'
I think if you were to ask a random 1,000 people. it won't be about the 'play of words' it will be the image of her being pregnant.

A Continuation of the theme? A very surprised looking choirboy as an advert for https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2010/09/65.jpg Perhaps? |

Perhaps, not being of a religious bent, Gary, you are not familiar with the concept of Immaculate Conception? |

Re: Pregnant nun ice cream advert banned for 'mockery'
Seems odd - the Catholic church doesn't seem that bothered about offending other people so I'm not sure why they need protection from being offended by anything themselves.

Re: Pregnant nun ice cream advert banned for 'mockery'
There's that word again O******D. Don't get me started.

Re: Pregnant nun ice cream advert banned for 'mockery'
Benetton used this tactic some years ago and it gave them publicity money could not buy.
Similarly, singles were released that the producers knew would be banned by the BBC thus guaranteeing sales. It's just cynical marketing. |
Re: Pregnant nun ice cream advert banned for 'mockery'
Perhaps this is the next hilarious instalment?

Condemning contraception in third world countries where people normally had lots of children because of a high infant mortality rate before we brought medication and basic healthcare to them, leading to a population explosion.
