Banned for life from the USA

How petty can you get ,i doubt Obama knows anything about this but it does show how paranoid the FBI are now

Quote:

Luke Angel was reprimanded by police on both sides of the Atlantic after firing off a drunken message to the White House calling the president a "p****".
The FBi intercepted the message and contacted police in the UK who went to see the 17-year-old at his home in Silsoe, Bedfordshire.
Luke, a college student, is now on a list of people who are banned from visiting the States.

Hmm..insult leader of a country..and they ban you..seems reasonable

Some countries would jail you..or worse. Try doing that in Iran..actually..i think quite a few countries would take a dim view of being insulted.

A bit more to the story

The individual had sent an email to the White House which was full of abusive and threatening language," a police spokesperson told the British newspaper, Bedfordshire On Sunday
Hopefully, this has been a learning experience for the young man.....

Stick, wrong end, got, completely - rearrange, please....;)

It's not the FBI who look after the President's security, it's the Treasury Department, Secret Service section.

Re: Banned for life from the USA

"I don't remember exactly what I wrote as I was drunk," he told The Sun. "But I think I called Barack Obama a pr---. It was silly - the sort of thing you do when you're a teenager and have had a few."

His e-mail, however, was brought to the attention of government officials who didn't find it quite so funny.

"The police who came ‘round took my picture and told me I was banned from America forever," the 17-year-old said.

But the young man was apparently not upset over his being shunned by a country.

"I don't really care," he said, but "my parents aren't very happy about it."

hahaha

Although the Secret Service was moved to the (then) newly-created Department of Homeland Security in 2003 ;) :)

As someone pointed out in the comments section of the skynews story

Let's hope Abu Hamza doesn't hear this story.
He would only have to send Obama an email of abuse to be banned from the US for life. Cunning plan...

No prob. :)

It was one of the many changes introduced in the post-9/11 shake-up.

I would like to see a full transcript of the mail.

As calling Obama a prick, I assume it was prick, I don't think is enough to warrant a ban.

Hell, if it had been GWB in power, half the world would be banned.

This would be entirely at the discretion of the UK government whether or not they wished to do this. Banning someone from your country is an entirely unilateral decision regardless of special relationships. The UK police were purely following a request from the US.

If we banned a US citizen from the UK they would have a choice whether to object or not and take it up with their government. Given this UK citizen doesn't care and has shown no interesting in taking it up with our government that's about it.

Nothing to do with special relationships at all.

The problem with a special relationship..is i think US of A actually does think we are "special"..probably wanting to put us in a "special" school :D

Is it really a bad thing to be banned for life from going to the USA.

I was going to go the the US but the amount of paperwork they want is a joke, I've filled out less getting MoD security clearance, and that didn't cost over £10.:D

Whats next, providing a stool sample?:D

It's not that much paperwork although I agree it's an irritant. Being banned from the US is a bad thing, that's a rather large place to suddenly be unable to ever visit or work in.

Maybe we should all send em one anyway and tell them to count the peanuts.

Mind you there are enough stupid people over there already so I guess they didn't want another. If anything hopefully this will teach the lad to grow up a bit.
