Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
I recently changed to this version of Firefox because my previous version was crashing all the time. However every time I open CF it wants me to log in, how do I make it remember? Also is this the most up to date version of Firefox?

Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
You could try removing the saved password and clearing your cookies and starting over again (you are also ticking the remember me box on login? (I think it's ticked by default)
To remove the saved password go to TOOLS >> OPTIONS >> SECURITY >> SAVED PASSWORDS To clear cookies go to TOOLS >> OPTIONS >> PRIVACY >> CLEAR INDIVIDUAL COOKIES then remove the cable forum one or you can just click on REMOVE ALL COOKIES which will mean you have to log back into all the sites you use. (sometimes though this is the only way) |
Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
There is usually a Remember me tick box by the login. What add-ons do you have? These should also be updated where possible.

Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
The only thing I can suggest is re-installing the update as perhaps the one you did got slightly corrupted. - This does seem to be an occasional problem with Firefox.
I am on Firefox 3.6.8 with Adblock plus, Flashblock, No-Script, Personas, Taco, Utopia supermode. colourful tabs & Java console. |
Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
Angua good of you to help. This version of Firefox is not an update it is a different version from my previous version which I think was beta, and was causing all sorts of problems, so I opted for this version. I may have to think about uninstalling/reinstalling it as you suggest. It's doing my head in.:D
Strangely, I just found out I have to log in to CF on IE. What's going on? |
Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
Which version of windows are you running? If vista or Win7 does it think you're on a public network??
Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center to find out if you're on the above mentioned OS's and it'll either say WORK/HOME or PUBLIC network |
Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
Kymmy it says HOME, and my OS is Vista home premium. This is just something that has happened recently, hope I have not got myself a virus or summit!:erm:

Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
You could copy us off a HIJACKTHIS log, any rougue DNS settings/BHO's will show on that

Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
Go to Tools>Options>Privacy and check your Private Data settings, sounds like you have the box checked for "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox"

I've been using FireFox as browser of choice for years. First thing I do with any browser is set the privacy settings as I don't save any passwords or usernames, etc. on my main PC so I did know where to go for this problem!!! Another thing I do, is on my laptop I use FireFox for all "secure" computing with privacy settings set to clear everything on exit, and I have IE8 and Opera with less draconian settings for less sensitive stuff. Maybe it's overkill but better safe than sorry I say!!! :) |
Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
If you want to be automatically logged into everything all the time without sacrificing security, check out Lastpass via your favourite search engine. It is a secure password manager that allows you to take your passwords with you across browsers and on any PC.

Take a look at https://lastpass.com/ and draw your own conclusion. I think you'll like it.

Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
Yes i kinda know what it is, it seems to to let me save my passwords with them and stop me forgetting rather than have them sync on both computers, it may come in handy if i was to forget passwords or not have them saved on my computers for security reasons. :)

Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
Yes - you log into Lastpass with one password and it takes care of logging into everything else for you. Also fills forms and credit card details if you want it too.

Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
I use Sxipper as it signs you in automatically and can fill in forms for you.
If you google it supports most browsers. http://www.sxipper.com/ |
Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
I'd never trust anything with my credit card details lol

Also if you have the paid version (which is only a few $) you can setup multifactor auth.etc |

Re: Firefox 3.6.8 wants me to log in to CF
I've recently experienced the same problem, although not immediately after upgrading to 3.6.8. Although it may have just been a coincidence, it happened after applying a MS update(XP security fix). The username/passwords were still 'remembered', so I didn't have to try to recall the details, but the cookies(I assume) that tells the sites to remain logged in, seem to have gone. This happened to all sites(eg Radio Times) that I use, not just CF. I'm not quite sure how the proposed solutions would help, as the problem was that you do not normally have to be logging in at all.
