VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Having recently emailed Neil Berkett and surprisingly getting a reply direct from Neil Berkett and a member from the Executive Office call me with regards to the VIP Package.

I asked the question around why VIP is not best of the rest like it was when it first came out and also asked the question the reason behind the £7 HD per charge

VIP Package - we discussed things like XXL (50mb) broadband coming under the VIP package, Picture Box and 1 Free Film Flex Movie each month and the future HD channel line up - She said that all of the above a more has being discussed and that decisions have already being made by Neil Berkett about the VIP package and that we should expect a new and improved VIP Package with the possibility of VIP+ which would cover Prem HD channels and much more.

One thing She was 100% on and was happy to state is that VM will offer all Non Prem HD channels to XL/VIP customer at no extra cost, I asked numbers in terms of channels and a further 10-15 by end of 2010.

£7 Prem HD Charge - I have no problems with this charge and as I have stated before its down to personal choice but I asked why VM needed to charge.
She stated that as part of the VMTV sale VM stated that no deal will be agreed unless Sky HD Channel were part of this deal - Sky did not want to give this away, apart from the fact that VMTV was costly to keep running VM saw fit to sell these channels and also get Sky's HD channels which VM have being after for a number of years.
She went on is saying that Sky wanted a % of all income from HD charges to VM customers and that the first offer is Sky recommend a £12 charge for HD channels.

After a number of months this was reduced to £7 and a 10+ Year carriage deal agreed along with sale of VMTV.

She did not want to give too much away but I kind of got the feeling I was on the right lines stating that Sky get around £4-£5 per HD package, with the rest covering VM's cost and hey they are here to make some profit.

Sky Sports 3/4 HD - I asked the question around why VM are not offering these channels, She said we have all seen the Sky's the only place to get all 5 Sports HD channels adds etc, Sky feel a treat from VM and now that VM can offer Full HD services they have to keep something back.

All in all I'm taking plus points - VIP package has already being looked at for improvement - so watch this space and the fact VM can offer Sky's Prem HD channels at a small £7 fee is a good deal in my eyes even though we all know Sky have got there finger in the pie on this one.

I have asked my insider to keep his ear to the ground on these changes.

Thanks for the heads up on that, sounds promising.

If they took talk international and mobile option off VIP which I never use.

And added caller display and Premium HD channels I believe a lot of people would prefer that because I for one never use the international option and hardly ever the mobile reduced rate option.

Agree with Mattpafc...

I've already had to tag on 50mb to my VIP package and was a bit gutted to hear they plan on charging an extra £7 PER box you want to view the already expensive Sky Movies and Sports in HD. So that would be £14 extra a month for me...if I could scrap international and mobile phone packages it would make it a little more bearable.

Any idea's when these will be announced?

That is great news, but it is no more than we deserve as we didn't get any price reductions for sky premium channels.

reading the OP, it says a "further" 10-15 channels. So I think that these are extra channels, probably including SKY 1 HD, Sky arts HD, Sky News HD and hopefully SKY Sports News HD, ESPN America HD.

I get the feeling that VM/Neil Berkett have being bombarded with emails from VIP customer around both VIP package and £7 HD Fee - the good thing is the same thing is coming out of VM and we await an improved VIP package

Nice one that would put Virgin up to about 36 to 41 HD channels by the end of the year , potentially only about 9 behind sky then.

That is for sure the young lady I spoke to gave me the distinct impression they had received a lot of complaints from XL/VIP customers.

So basically if all this comes true only sky sports 3 an 4 Hd missing really , well of anything worth having anyway.

I personally dont have no clue what else is left and how sky will get to 50 hd channels that they claim they will have by the end of the year. Maybe someone else can fill in the gaps.

if they were serious about looking after the high paying VIP customers they would already have announced the new pricing at the same time or before this debacle over the Sky premium channels.

I think that if VM still want to go along the lines of the VIP pack being the best of everything they offer, then they may well add in 50mb and the premium HD channels.
If they do go down this road then I think its fair it goes up £7pm for the premium HD as VM have no control over that, but the 50mb could be thrown in free, this would be fair as when VM were dropping the price of their other BB packs we on VIP missed that party.
Also as BR says they could throw in picture box and maybe one or two free film rentals a month.
At least we now know they are aware of the problem and are acting on it.:)

I am guessing If/When this does happen. All us VIPers will get the new deal automatically without having to phone up? And they will send us new 50mb modems?

They can easily absorb the price of both when you look at the price reductions that haven't been passed on in the past.

Firstly there's £10 a month from when the V+ fee was dropped, which VIP still pays, and then there was no increase in discount when XL BB's price was dropped by £7 I think it was?

That's £17 of savings that can easily cover XXL BB, and Premium Sky HD.

I think they're more likely to drop the price of VIP (possibly by £10 whilst adding in the Premium Sky HD's) and add another tier that includes XXL BB, as the cost of doing modem swaps on all the VIP customers will make it prohibitive to just add it to the current VIP. That way they can charge you a new install fee to move from VIP to VIP+ that will cover the modem swap.

That sounds feasible and is a good idea :tu:

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Here's the email I sent to Neil Berkett this morning...

Quote:

Dear Mr Berkett,

I subscribe the the VIP package and my monthly bill is in the region of £115-£120/month (I don't have my account number with me at the moment, but my phone number is 01XXXXXXXX).

Over the past year I have enjoyed Virgin Media's deployment of improved set top box software, and your launch of HD channels. Following the announcement that Sky HD channels were coming to Virgin Media I was excited; I have been a loyal customer with C&W/NTL/NTLTelewest/Virgin Media for more than 10 years and have always resisted the urge to switch to Sky.

I originally subscribed to the VIP as is was supposed to "the ultimate bundle" that included everything and up until recently, I have been relatively happy. However since then, the VIP broadband service has been superceeded by your 50MB service, and now I find out that the I am expected to pay an additional £7/month for the Sky HD channels.

I have to say I am very disappointed; Even though and I, and others VIP customers, contribute significantly to (read subsidise) your ARPU, it seems that if we are expected to retain "ultimate bundle" status, we must increase our monthly subscriptions.

The VIP package used to be good value, however I feel that its value proposition has been compromised and it is being eroded further. Who knows what the next add-on will be!

Over the past 10 years I feel like I've "made do" with service issues in terms of service reliability (primarily set top box software), quality of service (primarily customer service), functionality (primarily channel availability). It seems, finally things are getting sorted out, but it's me who has to pay for them.

I would like to get the Sky HD channels however I am not willing to increase my subscription. Therefore, I will move away from the VIP package, drop something (probably the Movies and Sports packages) to get the Sky Basics HD channels.

I urge you to seriously consider the value proposition of the VIP Package in the context of the value of some of your highest spending customers.
I'm not holding my breath.

One problem, you won't have to change your sub to get the Sky basic HD channels, they're going to be included in XL. It's only the Sports and Movies HD channels that will require the £7/month sub so dropping sports and movies to pay for the £7 is kinda redundant.

Just had a conversation with someone at the Chief Executives Office....

"Could you send me your account details please, as we are keeping a log of all VIP customers that have concerns about the pricing ect. I can advise that we are currently reviewing the package and will be making adjustments during quarter one next year.

Until then we are looking at a way to reduce the cost of VIP if customers want to take up HD Sky Sports"

Hi,

Neil has asked me to contact you regarding your email concerning the recent announcement concerning the charge for HD channels. I have tried to call you on your mobile however only voice mail was available. I would like to discuss this issue with you in more detail and I can be contacted between the hours of 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

Just called june

She said they are working on making the VIP better before the end of the year. But in the mean time we will give VIP customers 7 pounds off for 6 months. Only be offered to VIP customers that have be in contact with June or might be able to get it though retentions. She said the code isn't active and to ring back 2nd Aug and add Sky HD.

Interesting stuff. With the addition of the Sky premium charge my bill will hit £143 per month. My contract is due to expire in September and any new improved VIP deal should give me a few quid back provided it really does include the best Vm have to offer.

Hi All

Dont post here much (obvious from post count :) )

I have added my 2p to the voices of VIP discontent with an email. While I dont actually think £7 for the Sky premium channels is that bad, in fact I do consider it reasonable (hides in the corner) , I do agree with most that the VIP deal has been devalued to an extent we the customers need get VM do something for us for a change rather than everyone else.

IMO I would prefer better content at the current price rather than less content (lower spec package) for cheaper ... so what do the majority wish for ... better content/ higher spec pack at current prices or less content/lower spec package but cheaper ?

I know silly question as peeps will say high spec at a lower price .. but being realistic whats your preferences ????

VIP & VIP+? Sounds like another way a screwing more money out of VIP customers who thought they were buying the creame of VM as it is.

This seems like the broadband issue all over again - move the top tier from XL and repackage it to XXL.

and after this how long before there is a VIP++ and XXXL for broadband?

Not getting at you Red and think you did a good job writing to and talking to them - just been with VM too long and have seen things happen negatively to be anything but cynical.

On the otherhand I could be wrong and VIVA VM. :)

Would also be happy if they upgrade the Standard 2nd box to the HD version off the box as well.

How much are they by the way when on the VIP package?

Just had my phone call too ... on the ball for sure only emailed a few mins before :D

same offer £7 discount for 6 months (free Sky HD Premium channels in reality)

I suggested on the phone that maybe they could upgrade all VIP standard stb's to the new VHD stb ... but generally its just make us feel we are getting a superior package which at the moment it clearly isnt anymore.

VM get praise from me for not just listening but the fact they are actually taking action now with a discount ( to be confirmed ) and in the future when VIP should get its shine back ( to be confirmed :) )

She said to me its typical VM not thinking before they act which causes all this mess.

Also I asked about ESPNA HD she said I know nothing about that channel but by the end of the year or early next year they hope to have all HD channels except Sky Sports 3 & 4 HD unless they win a court battle over them.

Forgot to mention about a bigger Hard drive for the all the HD I will now be recording but with the new Tivo box coming soon not really a problem.

For the VIP customers who have already added Prem HD Channels to there VIP pack and have emailed Mr Berkett's Office.

Check your VM Billing Overview and were it states Unbilled Usage you should see something like - Partial monthly charges (provided by Virgin Media Entertainment) £0.00
This relates to the £7 charge discount - but keep checking until you get your next bill to ensure full discount has being applied.

I sent the CEO an email complaing about this charge and received this reply:

Not very satisfactory, so I replied back. Will keep you posted with result.

Are you expecting VM to make a loss on these channels though? VM are a business and are making very little out of the Sky HD channels you want.

Sounds like VM are working on a better deal for VIP customers though, so wait and see what happens :)

I find it crazy that people are saying "i have been a customer for XX years / since NTL" etc... what difference do you think that should make in relation to this £7 charge? Or any charge for VM services for that matter? Do you want your bill reduced so much that you become unprofitable, a drain on VM's finances so they can no longer invest in their product? Why should you be entitled to a discount on the £7 if you've been with VM for 10 years or 10 minutes? Should your bill still be what you were paying NTL all those years ago? If that's true maybe you should also be getting the exact same level of services and products NTL offered back then.

I can echo everything said here. Got a nice phone call of a woman in the office. Well done Virgin Media, listened to what I had to say regards making VIP VIP again and gave me £7 off for 6 months. She also resolved another issue I had and gave me a few quid credit on my account... told her I'm mightily impressed with the email, now the personal phone call and her remedying my issue and that she'd just won us as customers for life! Many thanks Virgin Media!!!

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

I don't think that the £7 charge is unreasonable, but I am concerned about the eroding of the VIP tiers value. So I sent this to the usual email address..

Quote:

Hi there,

I've been following discussions on www.cableforum.co.uk regarding the apparently eroding status of the VIP tier, and the new £7 per-box surcharge that Sky are forcing you to pass on to your customers. From the responses people have posted up, it sounds like your office are keen to hear views from those who are on VIP.

So, based on that I thought I'd email. To be honest, I'm not sure the £7 per month surcharge is that much of a problem - but it has highlighted a trend in that the perceived benefits of the VIP tier are significantly less now when compared to the time that the package was created. At that time, the idea was that the package contained the top level of service for broadband, phone, and TV - effectively giving those who pay the most a discount of sorts.

Since then, the 20MB broadband has been topped by the new 50MB broadband, while the reduced prices for Sky channels mandated by OFCOM findings haven't been passed on to those on the VIP tier - with the reason being that this is simply normalising prices paid for those channels between VIP and other tiers.

Regardless, if Virgin Media could do something to make VIP a more compelling package to remain subscribed to, I would be extremely grateful

Finally, well done on getting carriage rights to Sky HD channels.. I can only assume that negotiations must have been difficult. And as a customer with a high interest in HD, seeing Virgin Media go from 1 HD channel not so long ago, to the large number now (with more to come).. Well, I'm very happy indeed.

For reference, my account number is *********, with my area reference being **.

It did sound like your office were trying to phone everyone up to discuss this - you really don't need to, as I think it's clear what you are trying to do right now. But if you do insist on discussing further, I can be reached on ***** ********.

Regards,
Dean

I agree VM needs to be profitable, but compared to SKY we do not get same service.
However, VM have just contacted me by phone ((twice) to assure me that they are offering us the £7 discount for 6 months as VIP customers. They are grateful to those of us who have taken the time to contact them about our concerns and have assured me that they are listening and aim to upgrade channels etc by end of 1st quarter next year.

I am satisfied with their response, very quick indeed. They realise we pay a lot and are responding. Well done VM!! And thanks to you all for your input and for galvanising me into action. A great forum and I am so glad I found you! (Large box of chocolates beibg handed round!):)

It's human nature to expect loyalty and reward.

I don't think anyone (well maybe a minority) want something for nothing and I certainly don't. What I told the lady is that the VIP deal isn't really VIP if you have to top up parts and what not.

I said I'm not expecting complete and utter freebies or massive discounts but a to see a bit better value and mentioned that in comparison to sky who always was dearer are now quite comparable though you do still have the edge in regards to your 50mb broadband and on demand so I'd probably never leave anyway.

She said she agreed and they are planning to upgrade the VIP deal to reflect the new services and a competitive price to match in the 1st quarter of next year.... nothing unreasonable or unrealisitic has been asked for in my opinion.

Maybe slightly off topic but neglecting your current customers or letting your customers feel neglected drives them away that's the reason I left Sky after many years and Virgin have been getting £1,500 to £1,800 or so a year off me ever since. Been happy with Vm since I joined 7 maybe 8 years ago and went VIP I think 3 years ago, well more than 2 anyway.

I have just had the phone call from Diane at Virgin and the offer to VIP customers was 6 months free SKY SPORTS HD (Channels 1 & 2). SKY Movies HD is not part of the offer. After the 6 months free service (during qtr 1 2011), Virgin Media expect to offer alternative VIP deals. By accepting the 6 months free service for SKY SPORTS HD you will be entering a new agreement and therfore commiting youself to the VIP for a further 12 months.

Hi

From what was said the £7 discount (free Sky HD Prem channels) has not yet been given the green light ... will be end of this week or next before they can confirm its a go so they probably holding off giving firm offers at the moment.

I think its very likely it will go ahead but it does need to be confirmed and then put on the system so VIPers can get it.

Just be polite when emailing them as they are a friendly bunch who dont deserve any abuse or attitude.

From what you have said then - it is probably best to wait until this time next week until the discount coding or whatever is confirmed to CS before ordering the HD upgrade - unless an official announcement is made in the interim - or I get a phone call.

Been happy with Vm since I joined 7 maybe 8 years ago and went VIP I think 3 years ago, well more than 2 anyway.

I wasn't talking about the VIP or any other level of package, and neither was the OP (I agree that high spend customers should be treated well and that the VIP should be better). I was talking about people using length of custom with VM as a blunt bargaining tool for discounts, in the case of the OP exempting them from paying the £7 HD fee.

With that logic, if I had been with VM/NTL for 15 years, paying a pittance on the absolutely minimum package, and then decided I wanted to get the VIP, should I expect to pay less for it than you because of my length of (low-paying) custom? No! You may not expect something for nothing but I think many VM customers do.

That is the difference between Sky's customer base and Virgin's - Sky's customers are renowned for wanting the best (it's even their advertising strapline these days) and are prepared to pay for it. For the most part, Virgin's customers are not so interested in having the most/best/latest products and are reluctant to pay any extra for them. Hence why so few VM customers get Sky Movies & Sport and why ESPN agreed to be included in XL. And hence why so many people now are OUTRAGED!?!! DISGUSTED!!! QUITTING VM!!?! about the £7 charge.

It would have been fantastic to get it included in VIP/XL, and VM's "Free HD!" advertising is a bit dubious now, but some people need to get a grip - you can't expect everything to go your way just because you've been with VM a while.

Good Afternoon,
Firstly thankyou for taking the time out to talk to me this morning,I thought i would just let you know there is some positive feedback on the forums regarding the 6 months £7 discount you are giving to VIP customers.
I will be frequently monitering the situation regarding the restruction of the VIP package and if i may would like to make a suggestion-
If possible could yourselves consider/look into placing the 50 meg broadband into your new VIP pack,Maybe you could have a VIP+ pack.
There is a lot of people like myself who are on top tiers (XXL Broadband/XL Phone+XL Tv)/Maybe you could do a XXL TV which includeds HD premium channels) who would consider getting a new top tier VIP pack.
Hope you don`t mind the suggestions
Thanx

---------- Post added at 15:13 ---------- Previous post was at 15:12 ----------

And this is my reply -
Thanks for your feedback it is appreciated and I will pass this information on. With regards to the inclusion of XXL broadband into VIP. as discussed earlier we are looking into re vamping the VIP package but I do not have any information to pass on at the moment. Be assured however when we have a new VIP package in place we will let you know ,I am sure we will be shouting it from the rooftops as we have in the past.

OK now we have got the attention of VM/Neil Berkett on this subject, next step is POST HERE what you want from the NEW VIP Package.

Current VIP plus::

XXL Broadband
Prem HD Channels (alone these would cost around £15 per month more if added on top of VIP)

What do you want and dont want in the VIP package?

What would be a fair price £80-£100?

End of Aug - I will post a final submission and then issue to VM - if we all agree and do the same maybe just maybe we can get a package what we want at a fair price.

If we are reasonable I’m sure VM will be reasonable

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

While I'm reasonably happy to accept Premium channels carry a premium cost on top of existing deals , and I think the £7 is reasonable even for VIP to have to pay .. there is a disparity in what we currently pay/receive compared to individual built packages so by a price drop of £7 for 6 months it does improve things but there is still more room for movement from VM when they revamp the VIP deal.

Personally I would love the VIP to include Broadband XXL 50MB but what I dont want as an existing VIP customer is to landed with an install/activation fee and a new 12 month contract .... as a VIP customer I believe I am already showing loyalty and should not need to pay for upgrades especialy as we should really get them automatically anyway.

I personally dont want to see VIP split into two packages of VIP and VIP+ ... it should be one package at one price for all containing the same services at the same levels for all which would include XXL 50MB Broadband & all TV channels available even if requires a slight price hike but not £15 a month.

After all the VIP is supposed to give the best of everything at a discounted price not at an increased price above getting the services individually.

I have faith that VM wont disappoint but I do have a doubt it will be without some hefty increase in cost.

All IMHO of course

Current VIP plus::

The only things they can do is:
Upgrade our second box to a HD or V+ (Costly for VM upgrading kit)
Add Picture Box
Add some free movies from film flex
Add XXL Broadband (Again costly for VM upgrading kit)
Add 1 sky hd sub or even Sky HD for all boxes

VIP Package Same Price:
Add 1 Sky HD Sub
Maybe Picture Box

Im hoping theres a new VIP+ Package with:
Around £110 - £120
XXL Broadband
Picture Box
2 Sky HD subs
Second Box a HD Box (Could be a V+)
Could add a third box

How many already have 3 boxes and what combination

One thing that should definately happen is no price increase. But i would like to see premium hd channels added, since we didn't get a price cut for sky channels. 50mb would be an added bonus, but i will not be paying anymore, since my bills are are already around £100.

If they do it right,They will get the rewards by more people jumping onto a new improved VIP pack.I agree it should be the best of everything discounted,It could maybe be a 24month contract.Hopefully it would cut out all this different prices anyone is paying,Its crazy that me and a neighbour are getting same products but mine is way cheaper(it doesn`t make sense). They should take example from gas companys for eg i am with scottish power and im on a fixed price deal for 2 years and getting discounts because of it.VM are proving they are willing to listen to suggestions,Let put our thoughts 2 them.Who knows in a couple of months this £7 charge could maybe make things better,VM have had a battering for the last few days(from me included)lets once again get behind them and hope for a better result for all in the long run

By accepting the 6 months free service for SKY SPORTS HD you will be entering a new agreement and therfore commiting youself to the VIP for a further 12 months.

Are you absolutely sure about this because the VIP pack as standard has sky sports/movies standard definition within it.

So i dont really see the point of just making the £7 discount for sky sports HD only and after all the subscription charge is £7 for both sports/movies HD not £7 for each.

Anyone else here whos hearing the £7 VIP discount is just for sky spots HD.?

If you say that whats there to change either add Sky HD sub or broadband to XXL or both. Increase the the price for that or decrease and not change a thing

Cant see that taking 6 months to work out

I currently pay 114.99
I get VIP + Extra V+ (Third box) + XXL BB

Doing this package at that price is only a £14 saving from the 2 sky HD subs

XXL Broadband
2 Sky HD subs
2nd Box a HD Box or VBox
3rd Box V+ Box

Hi, I've spent 15mins chatting to Diane at VM about this FREE 6 Month discount/offer and i'm 100% sure that the FREE offer for 6 months only includes SKY SPORTS HD & you'll be commiting to stay with VM for 12 months by accepting the FREE Offer.

I declined the offer and would rather pay £7/month and get SKY Sports & Movies HD and when the new VIP deals come out then hopefully I can revert to one of those.

I asked her the questions and feel free to ask her yourself.

I do hope that Diane gave you permission to give out her direct dial number:erm:

Hey Big Red i have been thinking about this and it would be good if you are able to add a poll with the suggestions of what you would like to be added or changed on the VIP pack eg:

50 Meg bb / SS AND MOVIES HD
SS AND MOVIES / PICTUREBOX
and so on but it may be lengthy to go through all the suggestions ( but just a stab in the dark )

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

IF the offer is for sports HD ONLY at £7 discounted for VIP then they can politely stuff it Im afraid ... why give us a discount that means we actually get less than others that would be on the same package ? ...

They can not seriously think peeps on VIP will take a £7 discount get locked into a new 12 month contract and only get 2 sports channels for them taking back our £7 discount again in payment for the 2 channels when other peeps pay £7 without a discount and get 12 channels ... that just would not make sense.

unless I have the wrong end of the stick here and they will give sports HD free AND a £7 a month discount with NO FEES for the sport

Diane gave me the impression that this is a £7 per month discount for anyone taking the VIP pack and a Sky HD subscription?

I was told I can have 7 pounds off and then add the SS and SM HD sub and I wont be paying any more than I am now ring back on the 2nd August to get it sorted. And that it would be a 12 month contract.

I also got the impression from Diane this would be for the Sky HD subscription not just for sports. Emailed Diane, just got this response:

Hi Jason

I am happy to inform you that the £7.00 credit would cover the Sports and Movies.

Thanks Diane

Big Red - Need to push that VM do all they can to get the other HD channels sky offer. I also mentioned to Diane that the Phone part of the subcription is not good value for money. Also must ensure we get Tivo software/boxes either at reduced install fees or FOC.

By accpting the FREE SPORTS HD offer you are not commiting yourself to have the SS-HD for 12 months but you are commiting yourself to your current VIP deal for a further 12 months which means if you ever had to cancel/downgrade etc then you couldn't without a charge.

I dont object to the new 12 month contract for Sky HD if we get a 6 month discount now with the revamped VIP to follow early next year ... getting £7 discount now which in effect means we get the Sky HD package on current prices (free in reality) but only if that means ALL the Sky HD

No idea what plans VM have for VIP package but it does need to be something big and unexpected to get people excited and wanting to sign up even if it means commitment to a 24 month contract .. if the deal is good enough people will sign up for it

jwspurs 21-07-2010 18:37

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

My concern though is what if the VIP offering isn't as good as we want, you're then tied into another 6 months before you can do anything.

BTW I think the offer will be good, but we're committing to verbal communications without knowing the full details.

Clearly there is a lack of info round the VM office at min,If you look at my previous posts. They are in the process of altering the VIP pack,But it is going to take time.We just have to be patient and wait ,Come on people give em a chance.Lets face it if it was Sky they would say thats the price take it or leave,At least they are having the decency to contact everyone and review there packages.Best thing for people to do at min is accept the £7 charge and wait and see what happens regarding the VIP pack then commit to a 12/24 months contact if its worth while.I am lucky i dont need to,got the £24.25 deal for 12 months from sky.But im looking to the future and personally would rather give all my hard earned money to VM rather than greedy sky.

Personally I feel that as the VIP package has been so badly devalued I don't think it would be right to increase the price at all. NO PRICE INCREASE

To redress what should already be the case I would like to see the following included:

1. Top Tier Broadband (currently 50mps)
2. Free inclusion of Sky's Premier channels.
3. Upgrade of current STB boxes to HD (I don't mind paying a resonable activation fee).

these are the basic things I would like to see as well as a promise the keep the VIP Package - VIP

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

I wouldnt worry about verbal agreements just yet as they have not even finalized what they are offering ... I was told it would be next week (probably end of next week) before what they can offer is confirmed as they were still considering the best plan and getting customer feedback.

BUT if I failed to hear correctly that the offer is 6 months free Sky Sports HD ONLY instead of the full Sky HD Sport and Movies then I actually feel insulted that they are devaluing the VIP package even further by giving half measures.

I would rather they came clean and said ... OK VIP peeps cant have Sky HD for free but as VIP subscribers we can offer it to you for £5 instead of the £7 for everyone else then I would be more impressed.

I certainly wont sign up to 6 months free Sports HD only even if its more than what i get now, I would rather have the freedom to keep my options open until the VIP revamp is announced

I know VM are reading the forums (they told me they were anyway) so peeps keep expressing your opinions so they get to hear what we want and at what cost

Enjoying the discussion but not on VIP any more myself went down to XL I agree it was devalued but feel it always will be. You would all like the top tier broadband XXL 50 megs added but at the end of the year isnt 100 megs due to come out, followed by 200 then 400 in the future. Do you reduce the price of the present VIP pack create a new pack for 2011 including TIVO.

Just a thought, anyway big thanks to Big Red for all the info and nice to see Virgin doing some thing positve.

Why? when the new/updated package is out you can take that the only thing it stops you doing is moving to sky or downgrading services. Only two people have reported sports only! june read the email with the new deal out loud to me she said she just received it

My conversation with June was not like that. I was offered the Sky premium package, which obviously includes sports and movies for a £7 a month credit and as I posted earlier, yes she did mention a new 12 month contract . I was quite happy to accpet that.

As for what I`d like to see on a new vip package.
50mb broadband
my old standard pace box upstairs changed for a HD one.
The premium hd channels as standard on vip
