They only tell you the answers by filling out your email address. Maybe all they want is your email address.

The ultimate test therefore of how 'secure' you are is if you give them an address I guess :D

Though I answered one of the questions the way I felt they would want it answered, not as I would normally answer it.

Question 9.
A friend has sent you a link to an *.exe file with an invitation to run it. He/she is not online right now so you can’t check in with them. What should you do?
answer choices:
1.
Trust my friend and click on the link.
2.
Save the file and run a virus scan on it. If the file is clean, it’s probably ok to run it.
3.
Never open the link, even if it’s from my friend.
4.
Trust your firewall to block the file if it’s malicious.

They opt for answer 2. I would opt for answer 3 unless it was from someone I had asked for something. Still though, who the hell sends links to .exe files? Surely it's better to send the link to the hosting website, failing which rar and send the file, not just a bare .exe

answer file is http://dl2.agnitum.com/Agnitum_Security_Quiz.pdf

Surprising even myself with a 27/30.

EDIT: And upon checking which 3 were wrong he reminds himself to take more time in reading/answering questionnaires.

The best security question to ask is why the URL has the words VOTE in the title.. In that case you've all failed

We have something at work re-Data Protection. It's humourous to a point with some of the answers, but highly subjective and open to all kinds of intepretations.
Written by market researchers with little idea of what a computer is.

22/30 BTW and having seen the answers would dispute those wrong.

TheDon 08-07-2010 10:37

Re: Are you a security wizard?

28/30, only wrong one being the exe question, because relying on a virus scanner to tell you something is fine is still dumb, although it does say "probably ok", which is true.

I'd love to see which you'd dispute as the only one I would think of disputing would be the one about running the EXE, there definitely aren't another 3 which can be argued any other way.

I`d certainly dispute the terminology for spyware, surely a keylogger is spyware!

From Wiki so it must be right  :D

Quote:

Spyware is a type of malware that is installed on computers and collects little bits of information at a time about users without their knowledge. The presence of spyware is typically hidden from the user, and can be difficult to detect. Typically, spyware is secretly installed on the user's personal computer. Sometimes, however, spywares such as keyloggers are installed by the owner of a shared, corporate, or public computer on purpose in order to secretly monitor other users.

You mean in the question which asks which is NOT an activity of spyware, with the answer being one of the other options rather than a keylogger?

So you're disputing the fact they've said a keylogger is spyware because a keylogger is spyware?

Should read more careful :dunce: Still imo no2 would be classed as Adware :p:

At the end of the day it`s all Malware and their right that AV`s are behind the curve, i mean most don`t even share samples which is just wrong!!!

Maybe this will all change soon ;)

Man I'd sure hope they'd update an information security questionnaire at least once in five years...

Lol! Indeed, downloading images is insecure but accepting PDFs from unknown sources that just happen to rely on one of the buggiest, insecure, and exploit-ridden pieces of software out there...

... I don't see the problem with that.

I'd also dispute the answer to question 9, especially given their explanation contradicts itself. There's never a good reason for ordinary end users to be emailing each other .exe files. That's why every sane email provider has banned it.

Funny enough that's the only question I got "wrong" but apparently saying you should never open .exe files from emails results in getting ten points deducted.

Your final score is 18 out of 30.
You’re headed in the right direction, but your knowledge needs straightening out a bit.
Thought I would get a lower score as I'm not very clued up on this as I leave all this to my eldest son.
