Any predictions for the opening match? I'd like South Africa to win but with the way Mexico attacked against England in our penultimate friendly I wouldn;t bet on that result!!

Well South Africa have never lost & Mexico have never won an opening World Cup match

Are you going to add a poll?

well it's finally started and got in HD too ;-)

I hope the Man U player comes on and gets 10 goals although there is always the chance our other find from last season "Own Goals" has a good WC and gets a few :D

I agree. They just create a constant buzz and drown out the audience noises. It makes the spectacle quite boring...

South Africa never had to qualify either ;)

As for a poll the pre-tournament thread had one for a month before the start no point in adding another now the tournament has started

Need to put this to rest. Ireland were not winning when France scored. In fact, France had got back into the game. There is nothing to say Ireland would have gone though had France not scored that goal.

As long as Henry doesn't win the fair play away this tournament, I don't think anyone will care that much. Maybe why he's starting on the bench :D

I was enjoying watching the RSA V Mexico game in this afternoon in the office but had to phone pest control because I had detected the unmistakable noise of an angry wasps hive somewhere behind the speakers. The pest contol experts didn't find anything.

I then come home to find the same hive has moved to my own lounge but the clever little brtrds only make the angry buzzing noise when I'm watching the fitba.

Is this a conspiracy? Has my wife employed a wasp trainer?

Well what a completely boring game France v Uruguay was. It was a complete non-event as far as a spectator sport goes. Maybe it`s to do with it being the first game of a tournament or the fact the other game in the group had been a draw but neither side even looked like they wanted to win!

I`m sure there`s an expression for the game but i can`t think of it right know. :D

I also had to turn the sound down, stupid air/plastic, whatever they where horns should be banned!

COME ON ENGLAND...

Kymmy 12-06-2010 12:47

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa

I adjusted the sound (bass, middle and hitone) and found a good compromise setting that dulls the horns but still lets me hear the commentary. Probably a different setting for every TV but worse of all was trying to listen to it via my 5.1 system

South African stores run out of Vuvu-stopper earplugs

Quote:

"We can't keep up," said the owner, who has ordered 1,000 more.

The earplugs, marketed as the "Vuvu-Stop", have a label on the back of the packet which reads: Highly effective noise reduction. Uses include soccer, rugby, or for couch potatoes to block out your wife's moaning."
:D

But president Sepp Blatter accused the vuvuzela's detractors of failing to understand African culture and insisted they would be a welcome addition to the atmosphere in World Cup stadiums.

Yes, I wondered how long it would be before we were labelled racist.

And its really come to the point where people are going to World Cup football matches with earplugs?

Oiii thats wayyy below the belt.... I didnt vote (need to register myself again with the dutch embassy in london (they have my details but never been able to vote here dont know why and never bothered to look into it) but if I did I would've done anything and everything to stop the racist w*ore mongering barsteward of ever getting into politics.. perhaps it needs 1 of those moments like JFK or something similar.

It's quite painless. You rneed to register for a postal vote in The Hague. But you need to take action when you know there's an election. Once you are registered in The Hagua, they *should* send you the ballot papers automatically.

Just had my mate who works for VM call me and ask the same thing - he has said that both SD and HD feeds come direct from South Africa i.e. FIFA control all media outputs with TV companies buying into SD/HD and 3D rights.

This is not a ITV issue and has happened to TV companies who have bought into HD rights.

He'll get another game, it was just a error that can happen to any keeper.

Some people said it went off for them on normal ITV! Probably a regional thing then.

I missed the goal on ITVHD! What on earth made somebody decide to press the 'advert' button? :p:

This is a world wide issue, HD output is controled by FIFA's media centre i.e. ITV buy into the SD/HD media rights from FIFA.

Spain and France blogs have also reported same issue.

What a joke. ITV-HD went to adverts just as England scored. Hope we have a good second half now.

I can't stand football at the best of times, I'm only making an effort tonight because it's England in a World Cup match.

That bloody droning is seriously getting on my teets though :-/
