bbc HD Grand Prix 14th March

hi,

the mail says it on bbc HD ,not showing on VM bbc HD ???.

bbc web site confirms NO HD for grand prix this season.

It's not filmed in HD so it'd be a bit pointless putting it on BBC HD.

Bernie Ecclestone has already said F1 will not be showing in HD this year.

This is because the TV coverage is always provided by the local broadcaster to the track, and a lot of these don't have HD equipment.

No, it's not, i will join the argument, they stated this on yesterdays coverage that they don't have HD equipment at all the sites, they may use hd camera's at some of them but this doesn't mean they are able to broadcast in full HD

So they do have HD equipment at some sites, so they do film it in HD. It's really quite simple.

No.

It might be shown in HD next season, but this one is all SD.

They have HD cameras at a couple of the tracks, but the in car cameras are all SD, and the onsite editing and broadcast units are all SD, hence there is only an SD stream available for broadcasters.

according to Bernie Ecclestone in january there is no chance of getting F1 in HD anytime soon as there is just not enough demand for it. he said that 1 channel does not make it viable commercially.

one good thing is once Eurosport HD arrives we will get WTCC in HD along with Moto GP and Superbikes. sure its not F1 but at least its some motorsport in HD.
