Samung V+HD Box Issues

Hiyya all, just wondering if anybody else has seen this issue before with the sammy box. My other half records quite a lot of stuff on it, but recently has started having issues saying the hard drive is "critical". So she deletes a couple of programmes then it says there is 75% free space. I will probaly have to call Virgin unless somebody has a resolution for me. Cheers.

Hi There,

I can't find the correct thread but I have read on here that someone was having the same problem as you and Virgin had to re-format the hard drive to fix it. It is possible however to do this yourself.

WARNING: All recorded content will be deleted and planned recordings removed. Make sure you have either watched recorded content or archived it, and also note down all planned recordings.

The guide is here: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/34221670-post1.html

Ben :)

Cheers for the quic reply Ben, cant seem to get that to work, the tv button seems to be the sticky point! So i called VM and was told that an engineer wont come out until they can see that i have rebooted my box - unplugging for 10 mins then pluggin back in. So will have to do that when i get in from work. Thanks for the help anyways. :D

Does your other half record HD stuff? as that takes up quite a bit more space on the disk than the SD stuff.

I have the same problem. I had a critical message, then I deleted a program that only recorded for 1second and it went back up to 22hours free. Will have to try the format option.

Fault desk can remotely reformat your hard drive if required. You shouldn't really need a service call for this, thats unless your V+ box is faulty in some way.

The reformatting guide on the forum includes the instruction

"Press the TV Drive Button"

As a Virginnie of only 6 months standing, can anyone tell me what the TV Drive equivalent is on my V+ remote control? I don't see a button marked with that label.

Where did you find this guide? If you look in the Articles section (link at the top of this page), the information should be up to date.

Hi everyone.

Is it possible to switch off the P.I.N. function on the Sky Movie channels?

Keep entering the PIN number everytime I change channel is really annoying to say the least.

Re: Samung V+HD Box Issues

Unfortunately, it is an Ofcom requirement that as the Sky Movies channels show films rated 12 and above during the day, that the channels have to be PIN Code protected. The PIN Code protection is automatically disabled after 10pm as far as I am aware. :)

Thanks Ben. I was aware of that as far as there are rated 12 and above films during the day but not that WE had no control over the entry of a PIN number.

I guess they are doing that for the safety of the majority and not for those who may not have children for example.... oh well, guess I'll have to be patient lol!:)

Yeah, it is a little silly, it would be better if it was on by default and then the user had the choice to disable it :)
