Cannot access email
 
I know on the status page it says some people are experiencing delays in getting email but my problem seems a little different.
I have 7 email accounts and as of this morning I cannot access any of them.
For information I am ntlworld if this makes a difference.
Have even tried web mail and after putting in user name and password it just cycles back to the same page asking for details.
Is anybody else experiencing similar problmes?

I can't access ntlworld email via outlook either - keeps asking for my password which it has and hasn't changed for 10 years so maybe an authentication server problem?

Yes, it's driving me up the walls!!

So much so that I have phoned the Fingster and left one of my "Al Qaeda special" messages on her voicemail.

No doubt the security services will have picked it up and will be along sh

It's happening here too - a pop up appears asking for username and password, but won't accept them when I enter them. I assume it's a problem with the server.... :-/

I have half a dozen email accounts and use Thunderbird.
Only one of them is having a password problem. Luckily it's a spare one.

This is a national fault and the reference for this fault is 1212163.
Due to the amount of customers affected by the fault it has been given a very high priority.

Seems a shame then that there is no mention of this on the status page then.
Cannot even find that fault number listed.:confused:

I did go to the VM site to double check the password but the manage your emails part is getting a 'makeover' !?

I understand the problem to be that their server has gone down but it's heading for 4 hours now and beginning to be annoying ..

Just got off the phone with Virgin Media and the lady from CSC sed that all email accounts are off line, it was only ntlworld.com accounts be for but my account is ntlworld.com so I am annoyed to say the least. I can not get ADSL on my line withe it having a permanent fault on the line or I would be off to a new ISP. http://community.plus.net/forum/Smileys/plusnet/sad.gif

Anyone who relies solely on their internet service providers mail service needs their bumps feeling.

Anyone willing to change to another ISP because of a mail service fault, only to sign to another ISP to rely solely on their mail service; see above.

I'm glad it has, the voicemails and 'abuse' I was getting from Mr A because he couldn't get that particular mail through... well, quite frankly... it was hilarious. ;)

I don't rely on NTL/Virgin Media for my emails I have a number of my own Domains with email, but I do rely on NTL/Virgin Media to get on line tho, as I have sed I can not get ADSL on my line withe it having a permanent fault on the line or I would be off to a new ISP. :dunce:

But your connection wasn't affected by this mail fault, though you still feel the need to make mention you'd like to leave VM.
My answer to this is, your not trying hard enough!
If you can find time to complain about a service fault in a thread that is not about a service fault that is hindering you, then you have time to chase up the necessary people/company to have the fault on your line removed.

1) It is a Permanent fault on my line, it can not be fixed unless I forked out roundabout £3000 to get the line replaced from the main cabinet to my flat on the 5th floor, but BT has inferred that the line may need replacing all the way to the exchange watt will cost a lot more, so ADSL is out for me.

2) I was affected by the email outage, but not as much as most with me having my own Domains with email.

Time to put up and shut up then really isn't it. There is little point in trolling every thread because you can't escape VM without incurring a large cost.
Glad your service is restored now, enjoy your many mails!

Not seeing the point in the dunce smilie, we already make that allowance for you ;)

Email seems to have gone for a ball of chalk again on Merseyside (ntl.com) keeps asking for password, can't access it from Virgin site either.

Apparently they know of the problem and it should be back up later today...

I wonder if were getting the extra storage promised!

An unrecognised error was returned from the mail system. Please try again later.

Thought i`d just put that line in for anyone who may be searching :-)

A different spare one is having problems today.
Just hope my ebay ones don't start playing up.

Just logged into self care, and I see that you can't view the passwords for other accounts anymore. How long has that been then?

Just gone back again, I thought you had to type in the old password to get a new one, but you just type in a new one now.
(Thought I'd mention it)

Service has been fully restored to the ex-NTL mail platform, if you continue to encounter problems it would be wise to contact support.

Im having trouble to work out whether or not I recieved a letter about getting an E-mail address with Virgin Media. Is there any ways i could find out about it?

My e-mails are still down. Have been up & down for weeks. I managed to get one working by creating a new address@virginmedia.com. It seems to work via firefox but not windows live mail using virgins settings. All my other a/c's fail no matter I use a browser or WLM.

Get a Gmail or windows email account and forward your VM emails to the new address

Thanks Gavin.It was tricky and not easy. My partner has 2 Virgin TV, net & phone a/c's one hers and one her daughters who has mental health issues so mum has to control it. My partner is not PC savvy at all.
The system will not let you have the same e-mail address for 2 a/c's. I am on one with her e-mail on her daughters. It didn't help that Windows Live Mail ( WLM )is now out of support.
My 2 old e-mail a/c's are now working also with a new virginmedia one. My partner has a new virginmedia addy that works. I now use thunderbird.
Trying to export Windows live mail addresses will work, exporting the messages wont.
I still have WLM on my PC and I can save any messages I need to keep bnefore I delete it.
