Spotify invites are rare as hen's teeth. So far as I can see, the only way to get one is from someone who is paying for the premium service, and they only get one invite per full year of subscription to pass on.

Acathla, if you had an invite and you sent it to Budweiser, you are a very generous person indeed!

I'm really, really glad I downloaded and signed up for the free version of Spotify when they opened it as a public beta earlier in the year. It is superb, and for most people the free version does more than enough, rendering the pay version pointless. The adverts aren't a problem at all, as there are far fewer than you'd get on any commercial radio station.

my spotify invites keep resetting back to 10 everytime I use them all, I've dished out 23 (so far). Never paid a penny for a premium account ever :confused:

I think you get (or at least you used to get) 2 invites per month as a premium subscriber.
I was a premium subscriber for all of one month when the android app came out and never used the invites. Still one going spare if someone really really wants one.

So I guess if you pay yearly you get two a year, pay monthly you get two per month.

They've only re-opened that in the last couple of weeks ... last time I looked it was still by invite only.

I would recommend everyone who thinks they might ever want to use it, get it now before they lock it down again!

Oh I'm soooo impressed.
I just found Tobacco Road By the Nashville Teens their only hit.But even more amazing I've found the original comedy Christmas hit by the Goons...I'm Walking Backwards for Christmas...in fact I've found a whole raft of stuff by the Goons.Wonderful..

Its not open invites, however all the invite does is get you to the sign up page. So if you manage to get the direct link to the sign up page then you do not need one. I found this out last week after googling for spotify invites, lol.

So really the invites are a total waste of time.

You used to have to input the invite code into the form (much like some reg. only torrent sites)

That's what happened when I tried to sign up a few months back, and I ended up getting Spotify Premium.

Have to say though, I love it, and it's well worth it. :D

Grr, they had Now Christmas 2009 on there until a couple of hours ago - now it's been completely removed from the listings ... unless I'm having problems with Spotify that no-one else is having. Would someone mind having a quick search and seeing if it comes up? It's been really handy, we've had it playing in the background during one party already. Would have been nice to use it again. :D

Alternatively I'm just going to have to search for all the usual standards from different albums and compile a new playlist ...

Hi
I've been using Spotify with Ubuntu Linux and Wine. It's been OK.
But now I've updated to Karmic Koala and got lots of trouble.
Distorted sound and 100% cpu use etc.
:mad: :confused: :rolleyes:

The solution is to upgrade Wine to a later version from the winehq.org website.
The one in Ubuntu's repo is still v1.0.1 and the deb that I got from winehq is v1.1.31.
I've also installed oss-compat and changed wine's audio driver to OSS Driver.

Slight hint - people who register for an invite are usually ignored.. Try joining a few more threads, chat a little and have fun.......

Then someone will actually tell you that you don't need it to sign up as it's now an open registration :doh: :rolleyes: But then again if you;d bothered to read the whole thread you'd already know that ;)

I have a question, i have spotify free (with adverts) im thinking of going for the £9.99 pm package, will i be able to download the songs onto my computer?

It does allow you to create playlists and make them available offline so your computer doesn't have to have a live internet connection in order to play them back, so the songs are physically downloaded somewhere or other, just not in any way that allows you to move the files onto different players, no.
