Re: Tesco remove christmas card from shelves
It was a pretty stupid thing to do, it was bound to upset someone.

Re: Tesco remove christmas card from shelves
It was a humourous card have we really got that bad in this country we can no longer look at something with a sense of humour it is really sad. Having spoken to three people i know with ginger hair they all laughed at it so i wonder if this is yet another case of some bitter twisted miserable git being offended on behalf of people they claim to represent. Tesco should have stood their ground and just said what it was and if you don't like it go and get a sense of humour preferably while looking for a life.

What a complete pratt that woman is, she really needs to get a life, and a sense of humour. Shame on Tesco as well.
Oh FYI, I married a ginger, and have two ginger daughters - they would laugh their heads off at that card. |
Re: Tesco remove christmas card from shelves
It's funny but it's also pointless, why are people ridiculed for having Ginger hair? Because they're in a minority?
May aswell make a card saying Santa loves kids, even black ones. |
Re: Tesco remove christmas card from shelves
I hope this women doesn't watch Little Britain, Justice For Gingers.

Re: Tesco remove christmas card from shelves
my nephew has ginger hair ,i blame all the cheesy wotsits he rams down his throat;)
as for the card its only funny if your not ginger and on that basis its probably right to remove it. |
Re: Tesco remove christmas card from shelves
FFS. Are we all such pussies now that we take offence at a card?!
I`m a slaphead and if a card was brought out ridiculing `Baldies` i`d probably just laugh.! At least Ginger people have hair.:D Why are people getting uptight about a card about santa and ginger kids? If it was about santa and slapheads nobody would have complained.:erm: Come on people, we`re all the same, whether our hair colour or lack of it or whatever.;) |

Re: Tesco remove christmas card from shelves
Its like all the other ones eg
BALD PEOPLE / TURN THE LIGHTS OFF YOUR BLINDING ME FAT PEOPLE / KEEP YOU WARM IN THE WINTER AND SHADED IN THE SUMMER ETC HOPE THAT THESE TWO DO NOT OFFEND ANYBODY AND IF IT DOES JUST THINK THAT I HAVE GOT GINGER HAIR ? |
Re: Tesco remove christmas card from shelves
I'm sorry but I see at regular intervals the effects of gingerism..When a child would rather dye their hair black rather than revel in a luxurious mane of rich red hair because of the gibes of not only other children but adults too. It's just one more layer of bullying.
If we takes the pee out someone because they are too short we would be ferociously attacked by the media. If we make remarks/jokes about skin colour, slanty eyes, cerebral palsy and Downs Syndrome and other physical atrributes that are never under the control of the individual we would be rightly vilified. So why should we accept that people with ginger hair are fair game? :( |

I didn't find it particularly funny, Ginger reference or not. Tesco are out of order with this one. Sack the Pratt who couldn't find something better to put on the card.

Re: Tesco remove christmas card from shelves
People can be touchy about their ginger hair tho.
I was in the pub the other day and one of my friends who is in his late 40s started teasing me as im starting to go bald and grey. What i meant to say was "Id rather go grey than bald" but it came out as "id rather go grey than ginger" and it didnt go down well lol. |
Re: Tesco remove christmas card from shelves

There are a lot of stupid rules in our country nowadays, and I agree that it doesn't do any harm at all to be able to laugh at yourself....but do we really need to use children as the butt of a joke.? |

Re: Tesco remove christmas card from shelves
My stepson has a lovely mop of ginger hair and has all his life and yet he laughed at this and thought it was funny and i also see the humour in it, is it good taste no but then please no one on here try telling me you have never laughed at a bad taste joke we have all done it. We really are getting up our own backsides in this country taking everything so seriously and being oh so careful not to offend anyone pretty soon it will be easier to keep your mouth shut in public.
Oh just in case someone wants to launch the whole "you wouldn't feel like that if you were ever ridiculed" thing i have lost count of how many times people have made hunchback jokes around me due to my disability (that is one of the polite examples of the ridicule i get) and you know what i laugh along with them because life is too damn short to keep getting wound up about every little comment and people that do obviously have nothing better to do. Life is a lot easier with a smile then a frown shame were forgetting that more and more in the serious UK. |

---------- Post added at 20:40 ---------- Previous post was at 20:32 ---------- I can only attest to what I've seen in the class room and playground. Yes we all need to develop a thick skin in life..but some of us apparently have to develop it twice as fast when we are seen as fair game.Having a little bit of a poke at people is one thing..when it becomes an on going hate campaign that's another especially when it's about physical attributes which are things we are born with and cannot alter easily. I guess we should ask Randy Newman to write another tongue in cheek song about ginger headed people to match his Short People masterpiece. |
