A teenage sex attacker who raped a five-year-old boy days after being spared a custodial sentence for another rape has been locked up for just under three years.

I don't know how tariffs are set in these circumstances, but let's not lose sight of the fact that three years is an absolute bare minimum, and given his record, as the judge says, he is most likely not going to convince anyone he's fit to be released for a very, very long time.

He did convince someone to release him. That is what enabled him to commit a further crime.

Yes, one idiot Judge. However, this person now has that on his record for all to see. Is it not less likely that he's going to be let out so quickly in future?

As the first sentence was revoked and replaced by a prison sentence of same length as for the second offence and runs concurrently with it, in effect he received no sentence for the first offence. Also that means the second offence was not given a harsher sentence than the newer sentence for the first offence.

Not correct, for several reasons.

First, he does have a sentence for the first offence, and it does have an effect. This is on his record and will be a factor in any future decisions made against him as well as being an indicator of the seriousness of his criminal past in the future should anyone be entitled to consider his record before, say, offering him a job.

Second, the two sentences are not the same length. The first sentence is three years and four months. The second sentence is indeterminate, with a minimum period of three years.

I know the 'three years' bit is hard to get past if you believe the whole 'liberal do-gooders are ruining our country' thing, but he has not been sentenced to three years in jail. The sentencing judge is of the opinion that he will spend "a considerable period of time" behind bars.

In fairness it wasn't the perpetrator who convinced idiot Judge Smith to be lenient but the then victim's family who forgave the youth because of their Christian beliefs - he bought into it.

Stuff like this annoys me so much.

I had a friend who committed suicide at the age of 20 partly because he was sexually abused between the age of 11-13 by a 17 year old boy who was supposed to have been caring for him while his mum worked and it was his mums best friends son.

Although the boy was caught and charged it left him sexually frustrated and mentally frustrated to a point when other family issues started also and the prospect of possibly "Coming out" to his family happened he couldnt take it and took a massive OD on Morphine.

People like this need a majorly long sentence and castration.

So, He only got a 3 year community order for Raping a seven year old boy?:erm: Dear God, What the hell was the judge thinking?:mad::td:
8 days later he commited the same offence, now is the time to stop all this madness of lenient sentencing.:rolleyes:

Sometimes you wonder whether some of these judges are in fear of giving proper sentences. thinking that an awful lot of people are going to want to find out where he lives.

they don't actually live in the real world, so probably don't want to give anyone an excuse to bring the real world to them at their home.
