When did you sign up? I did so months ago. Still not received a invite as of yet. If I get in I will give a invite to a CF member if they promise to invite 1 other CF member? I think this would give an invite to anyone who wants one, and only to members who have been involved on the forum and signed up before this week?

I signed up this morning - apparently there's something you can add to the 'comments' box which will increase your chances of being accepted - I tried it but I'm going to keep quiet about it for now but it's being posted on one or two other forums :D

The whole idea seems a little bit old though. IM where you can see the comments typed in real time and read them after they have finished. Im sure live messenger can be updated to have these "features".

I have 97.

AFAIK, they're completely pointless now though, given that Google Mail is no longer in Beta, and has been opened up to anyone - no invite required.

Probably, although it took almost three years before Google Mail was opened up to the public & no longer required an invite ;)

I don't think anyone who applied recently has much chance of getting an invite from Google any time soon though :(

Wave was announce back in May, so there's going to be a rather large backlog of invite requests for Google to get through...

You just need a email address for the invite to be sent to.

I would assume, though, that if you do get an invite & do not already have a Google Account, the act of signing up for Wave would also at the same time create a Google Account.

Would appear that someone has been kind enough to offer me an invite, once that's sorted out I'll see how many invites I'm allowed then I'll start dishing them out on the understanding that anyone who gets one from me offers some of theirs to other CF users.

Obviously I have no way of checking but on your own conscience be it...

OK this is a list of the users who have specifically asked for an invite in this thread, if anyone wants to be added to it let me know. Assuming we get 8 invites I'm suggesting we offer 3 to those in the list from the top. As each member gets their invite I'll take them off the list.

We have a long list of people who have either signed up for an invitation to Google Wave, or who have been nominated by a friend to get a Google Wave account. Unfortunately, we aren't able to pass out invites as fast as the nomination list has grown, so we're not currently adding more people to our waiting list.

As soon as we're confident that the system can accept more users, we will add a wave to your account that allows you to nominate friends and colleagues for an account. Once you have the capability to invite people, the wave appear in your inbox.

If you've already received an invite wave (you have seen it before in your inbox), you can search for "invite others to google wave" to find it. If you're out of invites, please bear with us as we work to add more people to the system. Once you've been given the capability to nominate more people, your invite wave will again appear in your inbox as an unread message.

You can always add to your Contacts list people who already have Google Wave accounts. Learn more about adding contacts.

Looks like invites are gonna be hot property again, if it runs in Chrome well it should run ok in FF I expect but not suprised about IE8 issues as a lot of things don't seem to play nicely with it. Will have to wait and see if I get an invite lol
