Opera 10 released
Opera 10 has now been officially released for anyone who wishes to use it.
http://www.opera.com/ I'm seriously giving this a try because i've been disillusioned with Firefox lately, because of it's ugly skin and clunky feel compared to other browsers. |
Re: Opera 10 released
problem I have is Opera is a closed architecture and 3rd party browser extensions do not work on it
|
Re: Opera 10 released
Thanks for the heads up Snoopz, I used to like Opera, will try this I think :tu:
EDIT: posting from it now, fast, very fast, will play some more but I think I've just switched browsers.......again :tu: |
Re: Opera 10 released
I love the look of it so far but having trouble with the scrolling, it's not smooth and jumps a mile, probably a mouse setting somewhere to reduce the steps. Also the add blocker leaves a white box on the sites i've tested it on.
Only time will tell whether i end up back on Firefox. |
Re: Opera 10 released
Cheers for the heads up, went to website and download correctly linked to 64 bit Ubuntu version for me :)
I use http://www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/opera/ for adblocking |
Re: Opera 10 released
Smooth scrolling here, very smooth, thanks for the link admars, will check it out if the inbuilt one isn't up to scratch.
|
Re: Opera 10 released
I'll check the link out later too admars. :)

Re: Opera 10 released
is that an official add on? I use roboform to generate and save my passwords and then encrypt them safe so I never actually key in my passwords at all . Roboform says Opera does not support 3rd party extensions but isnt that adblock one?

Re: Opera 10 released
Unfortunately it still has a problem loading gmail, have to press F5 after logging on....
Still problems on some other web pages I use. Otherwise, it is fast. ---------- Post added at 19:59 ---------- Previous post was at 19:42 ---------- Quote:

Re: Opera 10 released
Whats annoying me now is i want the Personal Bar under the address bar and also hide the very top menu bar, but i can't see a way of achieving this! At the moment it's taking up far to much space at the top of the screen and doesn't look right.
[edit] Maybe i can use this speed dial as a replacement to the personal bar. |
Re: Opera 10 released
I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly then right click any of the bars, go to customize and then go to Appearance. You can remove/move bars there. I'll show you my setup for it now. Just gotta upload a screenshot.

[edit] How did you manage to move the address bar above the tabs? |

the .css file there fixes the formatting issue. it's not quite as good as adblockplus, but it's better than nothing or IE ;) |
Re: Opera 10 released
arrrrr I see
I like IE7 dont like 8 I use IE7pro so I get my adblock there in IE8 you have inprivatefiltering which which works well as an adblock |

Re: Opera 10 released
I had to give up on Opera due to a few little annoying problems.
I'm now back on Firefox and have installed the following add ons to make it look and feel far more responsive. SmoothWheel for super smooth scrolling. Fasterfox for improved speed. Download Statusbar for improved download window. Socool which is a theme i like. I had tried to change to Google Chrome but only lasted a few days as i hate the tabs on top. Opera is looking to be a very nice browser but it's a shame pages aren't displayed correctly like in other browsers. |
Re: Opera 10 released
^ Considering it passes the acid tests and has one of the higher standards support (along with webkit based browsers) I find it hard to believe it's Opera at fault. Of the few occasions I've seen a page render "wrong" it's down to the page being coded for IE.

Re: Opera 10 released
I'm back on 9.27 as it allows me to search the cache for files downloaded by suffix...

It's a shame really as i really like the look of Opera. |
Re: Opera 10 released
Drag the tab to the window title bar (or off the window) and it'll create a new window for that tab.
As for YouTube, never had a problem with it. |

Re: Opera 10 released
Is anyone else having problems using Digitalspy with this? The site loads but it won't let me click any links. It's only doing it on that site.

Re: Opera 10 released
Ah, well I've using 10.00. So that might explain why it's working fine for you.
|
Re: Opera 10 released
10.0.0 works fine here on the site

Re: Opera 10 released
Hmm, it was doing it last week but my laptop broke and I had to send it off. They replaced the HDD, so I had to re-install. God knows what the problem is then...
