roomsnet.com warning
Please warn anyone that you know who books hotels and apartments via the internet.
After reading on tripadvisor about the problems people are having with roomsnet.com i decided to check that my hotel booking was ok, having used them many times in the past thought all should be fine. The hotel has just replied to my email and told me that the booking was cancelled yesterday 28th august so now i have no hotel booked. I have contacted my credit card company and have been told that i can claim the money back (and i flamin well am) if i hadn't checked with my hotel we would have turned up with nowhere to stop. (all i can say is i wish i had looked at trip advisor earlier) So be warned if you have anything booked with roomsnet contact your hotel or apartment and check with them if your booking is confirmed and paid for with them (rather than just assuming they will accept the voucher you have from roomsnet) before you try and check with roomsnet.com as they are not answering phones and you get no reply from emails or online adviser on the website |

Re: roomsnet.com warning
I have tried to contact the 7 days a week 24 hour a day cutomer help line no answer. have emailed them no answer, have tried the online im help it says you are the first person in the queue then tell you to email instead as operaters are busy. There is noone answering any form of enquiry even the hotels (not just mine but at least 30 others that i have managed to find out about today alone) cannot get hold of them, the agents for apartments can't get hold of them to find out about payments. I paid in full for this hotel back in July and have heard nothing since. I am not slating them as i state in my post i have used them many times and have been extremely happy wih the service. I am just telling people to check with the hotel or apartment they have booked to make sure. If i had just assumed that all was ok I would have turned up at the hotel in the middle of the night and had no booking.

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Yeah I agree, Locutus1974 wasn't 'Slating' he was simply warning others of the poor level of service he recieved.
Thanks for the heads-up! |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
Hi, I booked my hotel in Spain through roomsnet in March, and when I arrived at my hotel in July with my 2 young grandchildren and sick husband at 10pm we were informed that roomsnet hadnt paid for our hotel room, and there was no vacances. We were quite lucky as we hve stayed at the same hotel several times and the reception remembered us, they told us we could stay in one of there emergency rooms and we could sort rooms net out the following morning, at which time we rang roomsnet, and we were told to pay the hotel and they would refund the money after our holiday of which was for two weeks. We told them that we could not afford to pay this out, so we were told that we would have to find somewhere else.
After several phonecalls back home to family we got the money together to pay for our stay. Our hotel told us that it was the policy of roomsnet and other letting agencies to get the holiday money of the clients, but not pay for the hotel till the week you are due to arrive. When we got home we must have been one of the lucky ones because within the 1st week back roomsnet had repaid our money, but that didn't compansate for all the stress and worry that their company caused for our much needed holiday. Have you tried ringing this no. 207 402 8192 good luck anyway |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
Do not use roomsnet. lots of people are currently having to pay again for rooms they thought they had booked when they arrive at their hotel.roomsnet do not reply to emails or phone calls yet their website is still active.
Anyone having trouble getting their money refunded ? Ring EDIT and ask to speak with their EDIT( roomsnet company secretary until end of July) she can somehow manage to get through to roomsnet, apparently on the same number that we have all had difficulty getting through to!!!! if she is in a meeting the EDIT might help as he was a director of roomsnet until the end of july. whatever happens be persistent and dont be fobbed off, we got money refunded into bank account within 4 days but it took lots of persistence !!!!! |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
thanks mandypandy will try amanda walsh this week ( have just got back from holiday after booking another hotel) I am also inviting anyone who has had dealings with roomsnet and have not recieved a refund to contact the bbc watchdog programme. I have contacted them myself today but the more people we have the better chance we have of getting through.

Re: roomsnet.com warning
I booked two hotels in Spain in March this year. Money was taken from my account and vouchers supplied for accommodation. I arrived at the first hotel in June and was informed the booking had been cancelled that day because of non-payment. Like everyone else, I was unable to get through to their help-line numbers.Eventually, the following day, I was able to make contact with someone in a foreign call centre, who stated that they had had a problem with their American Express payment system. I eventually received a refund, but was still out of pocket with phone charges etc., and the cost difference in paying for the hotel myself.
Before I travelled to the second hotel on 10 September, I called roomsnet booking line and was assured there would be no problem. Silly me! On arriving at the hotel exactly the same problem! Room cancelled - no payment made. Phone calls to the help line again went unanswered, and an e-mail to help@roomsnet.com returned as undeliverable. I eventually left a very terse message and this morning received a phone call from Sri Lanka telling me to be patient as they had to refund hundreds of customers in the same position as me! Does anyone know where this company is actually based, who are the directors etc., and whether they can be trusted with our money? |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
Hi all. I arrived in Spain on the 3rd of September and experienced the exact same problem. We arrived at the hotel and our booking had been cancelled. I emailed roomsnet straight away and they said they would process a refund but as yet I am still waiting. I have chased everyday so far. Friday the emailed me back saying they had problems with their accounts department which had delayed the refund but I would definately receive it soon. As yet I am still waiting and now they have stopped replying to my emails.
I have also reported them on watchdog and after seeing all the other complaints on various sites feel this company should be stopped from trading. I have no idea whether I will or won't get my money back. I keep hoping but an not feeling overly optimistic. Does anyone else have any other update? |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
had a phone call this morning from roomsnet(7.45 am) telling me that it was due to a problem with barcleys bank processing payment(i paid in full in july, thats some delay)
and on returning hom i recieved this email. "Dear Mr Christopher Garvey, Thank you for your email. Upon further investigations we have now identified the payments which was sent to our City office of N.Ch Hotel could not be charged due to systems issue by our local agents (Amex cards). As agreed by our agents we are refunding the full amount of the booking immediately, please allow 7-9 working days for the refunds to appear on your statement. If you had to pay a higher rate for the booking, please send us the receipts scanned and attached to an email highlighting the extra amount to claim the refund for the difference. Please accept our apology for any inconvenience caused. Thank You Regards Andrew RoomsNet Customer Support www.roomsnet.com" if you booked with a credit card get in touch with them to get the money back you will have better luck that way |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
amanda walsh was sec and dr silva was director of roomsnet until end of july they are still connected to roomsnet and can be contacted at bayswater medical centre. its a nhs practice, they must be using it as roomsnet office dont bother trying any other numbers you will get nowhere!as i said earlier our money was refunded in 4 days! but be quick they might get sacked soon
|
Re: roomsnet.com warning
Thanks for the responses. I tried calling EDIT but was conveniently 'in a meeting'. They said she would call me back but never did. Half an hour later though I got a call from roomsnet calling from Sri Lanka saying they no longer had my bank details and could I give it to them again. They also asked for my bank address which I thought was odd?
Anyway 'dirk' said he was taking my details to the accounts department and I would get a full refund so we will see. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
keep ringing EDIT petree, leave a message with the reception tell them exactly what it is about, dont be fobbed off, pester the living daylights out of her,

have spoken to mandy and she asked for my details and booking number and i was told she would pass it on to the relevant people. Told me She is annoyed (how does she think the hundreds of people who have booked with them feel?) that people are contacting her at work as she no longer has anything to do with roomsnet(yeah i believe that one) and hasn't since july. When i said if she couldn't help hen i would speak to Dr Silva I was told he was out of the country at the moment (proberbly spending our money) but rest assured he would be hearing all about the many calls she has recieved in regards to rooms net.

Re: roomsnet.com warning
she was secretary until end of july and happy to take money off people then,if anyone paid at this time then in my book it has something to do with her whether she likes it or not.keep on at her every day, (tough if she is being hounded at work!!! )until your money is refunded.my posts on other forums have been removed (reported by her I suspect ) have also noted that suspicious (positive )new posts are being posted by folk in sri lanka.Roomsnet are taking the p.. Fingers crossed everyone I really do hope you get all your money refunded
---------- Post added at 23:35 ---------- Previous post was at 22:03 ---------- LOL this is reply i got when asking if it was SAFE TO BOOK Thank you for the email. We had few contract issues with few of our suppliers. We were in a process of renewing the contracts and we could not agree with terms and conditions they have introduced recently. During the period of negotiation these new regulations some bookings got canceled by our suppliers. Unfortunately we could not reinstate all the bookings though we were able to find alternative accommodation for some of the bookings as were also not aware of the cancellation of these bookings. To avoid any further cancellation of bookings we have decided to terminate the contracts with the suppliers who canceled our bookings. The future bookings will go through with new suppliers so your booking will be a confirmed booking and we guarantee that you will have a reservation in the hotel. If you have further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at all the times. Thank You Regards Sean Manager-Customer Support www.roomsnet.com |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
I too spoke to Mandy on Tuesday and she was rather aggrivated at the 'stupid websites' as she put it that had her name as a contact and that she no olonger worked for them,. Yet she still agreed to chase up my case. I've had quite a few calls now from roomsnet saying that the refund will 'definately' get processed but there is a huge backlog of refunds that need processing and they can only process so many a day. That tells me they are having enormous issues ass a company and there must be hundreds of people out there being scammed by roomsnet. So far I have been told 5 days for a refuund, then 7, then it's in process, then 7 to 9 and now they are saying 2 weeks. I plead anyone that has had problems also to contact wacthdog, I fear for the poor people that are still booking through roomsnet and not aware of what they are letting themselves in for!
Does anyone know who actually owns the company and where the head office is based?? |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
RoomsNet International Ltd
2nd Floor, 45 Craven Road, London W2 3BX, United Kingdom. Phone (UK) +44 207 402 8192 Registered in England - No : 05362140 It's on their website. Doesn't strike me as a scam as people are getting refunds. I would imagine that roomsnet don't make the bookings directly, but act as an agent for other companies that actually do make the bookings (their suppliers as mentioned in the above email), which often happens with smaller travel agencies for instance. Some of the "suppliers" and roomsnet disagreed on new terms and conditions (who knows? perhaps with the exchange rates recently either roomsnet or the suppliers wanted a better deal) and so cancelled the bookings just before, possibly in a two finger salute to roomsnet. Same thing could happen with Thomas Cook or First Choice, although less likely simply because they're a bigger company and bulk book, but potentially you could have a holiday booked at one hotel only to arrive and be told by the rep that the hotel has cancelled all bookings. The difference is they're more likely to have other stock in the area, and you've got a rep you're paying for to sort the issue out. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
I am from Ireland and booked 2 rooms in Paris in July. Same story as everyone else. Arrived at the hotel to be told that we had no accommodation, it had been cancelled a few weeks before. No notification from Roomsnet. Tried to contact them to no avail. Eventually got an email back with a variety of excuses saying I would be refunded in 5 to 7 days and to scan in receipts from hotel if I had to pay more to stay there. This has not yet happened. Roomsnet has been featured on an Irish phone-in radio show, hundreds of Irish people have been scammed and some have lost huge amounts of money. I contacted Visa and they have refunded me the original booking amount already. I do not expect to receive the extra 210 Euro I had to pay from Roomsnet.

I booked a hotel in England, contacted the hotel and they dont have my booking. I am livid!!! I have used roomsnet so many times without a problem. I have emailed, no reply as of yet, cant live chat, cant get through on the phone. Suppossed to be heading off this friday, booked by credit card, my mam's, have to wait until she's home from work to see if I can get a full refund from them..Whats' so annoying is the website should not be taking anymore bookings, or even have the decency to post a notice on it saying there is problems at the moment that are being rectified. Its this fumbling around in the dark that drives me mad, you made a mistake, stand up and say so, people would be a whole lot understanding if they did so. I feel soo frustrated because I cant get a response from them. I will be contacting the BBC but what about in Ireland, who do I contact in Ireland about it?? Whats even more frustrating that in these times I have a budget and that budget will not stretch to booking another hotel while I am waiting on a refund! I am going to loose my money on the flights as well by the looks of it.. because I can simply not afford to book another hotel.

About Watchdog though - this sort of thing is right up their street. Contact them here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/gotastory/ |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
I have been using roomsnet for 12 months after reading the forum i rang the hotel and was told my booking was cancelled on the 3rd of september i have had no warning so when i go this evening i have got to pay another 413 euros i could not get throgh to any one at roomsnet.com so i emailed and got a reply to say i would get my money back within 15 days so lets see what happens
|
Re: roomsnet.com warning
I don't think they are processing the refunds at all. I emailed agian yesterday and today as after all the calls I had saying it would be done, and they's email me to confirm, I've still not heard. They emailed me back today with the same message they sent me last Friday, dispite me having having spoken to someone on the phone who said the problem would be resolved. Goodness knows what is going on behind the scenes with this company. Unfortunately as I don't have a credit card I paid by debit so I have no choice but to keep fighting my case with roomsnet. I'd love it for Watchdog to look into this as I think there are a lot of people wanting answers.

Re: roomsnet.com warning
well i have just had a call from roomsnet accounts department and the phone number is a 0094 prefix (just looking now what country this is). Re: roomsnet.com warning
I received a mail from rooms:
"The situation arose as a result of an error occurred on our supplier payment gateway, which resulted in the payment we made to the hotel through our supplier not getting through on time." They are refunding my card BUT the question I ask is HAS ANYONE RECEIVED A REFUND YET? |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
I am still waiting. And yesterday they called me to say it would take at least another 3 weeks as they are having a problem with the gateway on their accounts department and they are unable to release any money to any third party. They say it is taking at least 3 weeks for the payments to go through their system.
I asked him specifically what the technical problem was that was causing this and he couldn't tell me. I also asked, if that was the case and the problem was still there, why was I getting emails saying the problem had been resolved and I should expect the money in 5 to 7 days. He didn't answer me. It all just sounds so wrong if you ask me. Even though this 'gateway' issue is still a problem and they can't release any money to anyone, including suppliers, they are still taking bookings. Surely this is fraud??? |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
I think they are still trading well from this line of the email they sent me:
We have corrected the error on the payments gateway so that this situation will not arise again. Once again please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience that this may have caused you. This is only a isolate incident and we hope that situation will not deter you from using roomsent in the future. Like I'll ever book with them again, and its such a pity because I have never had a problem with them before and have got fantastic prices on rooms. But I couldnt take the chance again, not with knowing if I hadnt have heard the radio station I would have arrived in London with no accomodation and no spare cash to book another hotel! Our trip would have been absolutely ruined. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning

Roomsnet are feeding people the same line about refunds and when you get technical with them or ask them about other emails you have had they get all confused. |

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Yep, going through the credit card company is probably simpler than trying to persuade your insurance company to handle it. The credit card company, having given you a refund (which they have to, by law, because the Consumer Credit Act 1974 makes them jointly liable with the supplier for delivery of whatever services you've paid for) will then go to the supplier to get their money back. The more people who do this, the more pressure Roomsnet is going to come under.

Re: roomsnet.com warning
... in which case the Consumer Credit Act 1974 won't apply to you, unless for some reason you have a credit card with a UK issuer offered on UK terms and regulated in its terms and conditions under English law.
As this is unlikely, I assume Irish law has some broadly similar consumer credit protection legislation on the statute books, seeing as you got swift redress from your card issuer. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
We have just returned today from Spain, and have had similar experience to everyone else, turned up at hotel only to find Roomsnet had not paid the intermediary firm (in this case Jumbo tours). Very frustrating as we could not get hold of anyone to speak to. We did get an e-mail promising a refund in 15 days althogh another person in our party who complained a day later was told 4 to 6 weeks. The optimist in me would like to believe Roomsnet as we have booked with them 3 times before and not had a problem, and some people have said they have got a refund.
However as a further safe guard I would like some more detail of the company. A quick search on 192.com says a director and secretary resigned in July, then replacements found, but the last entry suggest a director and secretary resigned again. Trouble is 192 want £18 for each report. So before throwing good money after bad, does anyone know who the current directors are as this to me seems the most expedient way of getting a refund as once you have a name, you can get a personal address and then a phone number. 192.com have their address as 2nd floor, 45 Craven Road, Paddington, London, W2 3BX, tel 020 74028192. If anyone can provide further detail it would be much appreciated as it is rather frustrating that all the contact details on their website that would allow you to actaully speak to someone to find out what is going on do not work. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
Thomas, as some of us said earlier in this thread, the simplest way of getting your money back is to take it up with the issuer of the credit card you used to pay Roomsnet (assuming you used a credit card). The card issuer is jointly liable with Roomsnet under the Consumer Credit Act 1974. Get your money back via them, and then let them chase Roomsnet.
|
Re: roomsnet.com warning
What about people like me who did not pay by credit card. We have no choice but to keep chasing roomsnet and I think Thomas raises some good points, I'd be interested to see if anyone has any answers. I was told 3 Weeks was the maximum length so to hear you have been told 4 to 6 is making me think they are in serious trouble as a company and the money won't be refunded to those that are not protected by their credit card.

Hi all, the same thing has just happened to us, I booked and prepaid for a hotel in Rome for a family break, only to find when we arrived that the booking had been cancelled. We had to pay a much higher rate in order to stay at the hotel other wise we would have been left high and dry with no accomadation. We are going to claim via our credit card, Im in the process of making a complaint, against the Doctor with the GMC (see web site for contact details), and a complaint with the Westminster PCT that the Bayswater Medical centre is a part of, against Amanda Walsh. I have emailed Watchdog and intend to get in touch with Trading Standards. We must at least get the web site shutdown.
By the way Im informed that Dr Da Silva has left the medical centre but Amanda is still there. |

Re: roomsnet.com warning
GMC - General Medical Council
PCT - Primary Care Trust Complaining to these organisations is a huge waste of time IMO. Go after Roomsnet directly, via your local council's Trading Standards department (they may refer you to whichever Trading Standards department is local to Roomsnet itself, but always start with your own local one). Get your money back via your credit card, if you used it, and if you want to do anything else you could contact the BBC. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
mick,
The GMC are the General Medical Council, google this and you will get several phone numbers. Westminster Primary Care Trust which Bayswater Medical Centre comes under Tel 080058708818 and 08445769250 Also it appears Amanda Walsh is now working a similar type company in Ireland!! ---------- Post added at 10:59 ---------- Previous post was at 10:53 ---------- Quote:
It certainly makes you feel better if you can upset these people at there places of work, or anywhere else. The BBC only help if there is enough complaints. The trading Standards have also helped, all I can say is let as many people know as possible as this is obviously a scam. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
Even though Ms Walsh is working for a medical centre she's very capable and allowed to work for another company.. The other company will not come under the realms of the PCT/GMC so I really don't see the point in getting them involved..

It all depends what you want to achieve really, doesn't it. If you just want to get a refund for services not delivered, then if at all possible take it up with your credit card issuer; failing that go direct to Roomsnet. If you have any hassle with either of those, get advice from your local council's Trading Standards department. On the other hand, if you want revenge on the good doctor and his receptionist, by all means pursue their employer, their regulator and the BBC. Whatever gives you closure, as the Yanks might say. |

Hi to all the roomsnet sufferers, could anyone inform me that now they have rectfied the technical error and refunds are now being attended to, has anyone actually received any money recently. I have received 2 emails that are identical except the name of the sender is different, I'm afraid it's looking extremly bleak
|
Re: roomsnet.com warning
I received an email this morning saying the refund had now been carried out and below had a table which they say is the confirmation. When I queried it (they have been telling me for over 4 weeks now that the refund was being processed) they said my bank should be able to confirm a pending payment. I don't want to get my hopes up but it does seem unlike all the other emails they have been sending me.
They said allow 3 working days so I'll let you know if I actually get the money back or not. They've only given me back what was debitted to them initially though, not the extra I spent out their on accomodation they promised me! They say secondary refunds are taking place after they've made all the initial refunds they owe. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
After 4 weeks and non stop chasing I have finally been refunded the amount that was originally debited to them. I've had to give them my card details yet again to try get a refund for the extra I spent out there but I'm not hopefull that will come back to me. I am however so relieved to have the majority of it back. They said that this was an isolated incident and they hoped it had not deterred me from booking with them again in the future. Like that's going to happen!!!!
|
Re: roomsnet.com warning
I am glad to see that someone has at last got a refund, i am still waiting. I have noticed though that no new complaints have been posted so perhaps as they say it was an isolated incident. I have an outstanding booking for Nov and when i queried this with them they replied almost immediately saying, quote"future bookings are confirmed bookings and we quarentee that you will have a reservation in the Hotel". We will wait and see !!

Re: roomsnet.com warning
hi all,
i have been refunded but i need to check that it is what i had to pay out after finding out i had no room the difference being £200. i sent them a copy of the bill and they were quite happy to refund it all. i am now waiting for my phone bill as they said i maybe able to get that refunded as well, i'll keep you all updated, mick |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
Masterstd - Call the hotel and the middle supplier to check your booking, don't just trust what roomsnet say, be safe! Once bitten twice shy and all that. I won't ever be using them again!
They've asked me again for receipts to pay back my additional costs which I already sent them at the start of September and they confirmed they had received. Their administration is just a shambles. It's only an extra £30 for me though so I'm not as bothered about that, I'm merely still chasing on principle! |

Re: roomsnet.com warning
I personally, don't care - intact, it annoys me when users say "I'll keep you updated" get on with getting your money back and wasting typing energy and electricity on a forum, whee alot of us, probably don't. Mods can this be closed as it's only going to attract more unhappy users and cause more ranting.

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Cable Forum is first and foremost a HELP site. Please remember this and allow us to help those in need even if the only help we can provide is a place to vent and rant and tell their tale.
From broadband issues to lost emails,to crappy Customer service whether VM,PC World,Southern Electricity to roomsnet.com we can help by being supportive of those receiving less than stellar help. Thank you for your patience and understanding. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
They don't need help, either obtain a refund from this firm, speak to trading standards and or the regulatory body and issue a charge back, with their card issuer and or bank account. It's simple to be honest. I don't see the need for over complications, 5 pages of boring ranting. Yes CF is a help forum, however I was under the impression the main "aim" of the forum, is for VM clients and possible clients and ADSL and tech. Withs general chat? Pretty much? This is only going to attract more people, who would rather cry about it on a forum, rather than get off their butts and do anything about it.
So, if you are having trouble with this company, advice is: * speak to them, calmy. Swearing, being rude etc. Will get you no where. * issue a chargeback with your card supplier and or bank * speak to your local trading standards office. * if you believe and can proove, they owe you money, issue court papers, with the likes of money claim, remember, don't add costs etc into the claim, a judge will slap you for that. * don't rant and or bad mouth in a public forum, it will go against you * keep in contact with this company and your card issuer That sums, most of my advice up |

Yes Cable Forum is aimed at supporting users of Virgin Media services. But that is not to the exclusion of everything else otherwise we would not have bothered with the other forum sections. Our members have a choice: If you don't like a thread that is within this forum's rules - ignore it, otherwise live and let live. We are here to enable everyone to view an opinion and given the comments in this thread so far I'm glad to know that I am well advised to give a certain internet company a wide berth. |

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Well for those who are interested i have got the money back from my card issuer but have also recieved a call from roomsnet accounts 2 days after the money was back on my card.
Roomsnet accounts tell me that the refund will take upto 3 more weeks to go onto my card (total of 7 weeks to return the monry?) still sounds like they are trying to give me the run around. Not mentioned to them that the card issuer has issued a refund yet as the accounts people should be aware of this. Will tell them IF another refund appears on my account but in the meantime i am intrigeud as to where this will lead with them. As to all those complaining about this thread and i mean this in the nicest way, just don't read it. Forums are there to help people and if the cf team didn't want this on here they would have told me when i started the thread. That being said everyone has a right to an opinion and i was merely trying to save other from what had hapened to me but was obviosly to late. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
Well - again, ill say, why should we not read a topic just because somebody is whining?
Well, if your card issuer has issued a refund, it should take no more than 7 working days. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
Given that you are apparently the only person that has a problem with this thread I strongly suggest you wind your kneck in and walk away from it Webcrawler. If you persist in arguing it's merits, and in doing so seeming to try and tell the Team how to do it's job, I'll take the matter out of your hands for you.

Re: roomsnet.com warning
I've found this forum really helpful. To start with I has no idea what was going on, who to speak to etc and to see other people have had the same problem as me has helped me deal with the situation and feel less upset about the whole thing by knowing others are going through the same thing. It's not whining, merely expressing frustration.
I agree, bad companies should get bad publicity and I thank the CF team because this thread has honestly helped me and others I suspect. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
well we should have been going on wednesday and my friend just rang me from salou and told me about roomsnet we have booked with them many times over the years and we have recived no email or any thing from them so i clicked on "speak with a agent " and some one named michael came on the line i asked him if it was true they had gone bust and he said NO so i asked him to send me a email ?nothing yet but thinking about it what help would that be ?my friend is calling in to the hotel for me tomorrow but if its all true we carnt afford to pay out again and i paid with my debit card ? so can i get my money back ?
|
Re: roomsnet.com warning
If you paid on credit card, and it was over £100 then your credit card company must refund you if you don't get the item you paid for. Less than that amount and you can fall under the radar of that bit of protection.
You might want to phone the hotel direct and find out if they can confirm the booking was valid? |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
myfriend is calling in to the hotel this afternoon to find out if its been paid for but i dont give to much hope ?? but will let you no

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Yes please Katie, do post back when you have news. This thread is rapidly becoming one of the top Google search results for roomsnet.com problems. It's useful to document as many cases as possible for people who come looking for help.

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Katie, I had the same problem as you, I paid by debit not credit so I wasn't covered like other people and couldn't just go through the claiming my money back through the bank route. I have got my money back now though thankfully and trying now to get a refund for the additional costs I incurred. I'll be interested to see if they are still taking bookings but rooms still not getting booked as they say all their accounting difficulties are now fixed. I'll look out for your reply.

Re: roomsnet.com warning
how did you get your money back ?? i give up any hope my friend as been in the hotel this morning and the hotel has NOT been paid for so that agent LIED to me last night when he said all was paid for

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Persistence! I went through a phase of emailing and calling Amanda Walsh but did feel a bit bad as she has technically left the company. I emailed roomsnet everyday and was just lucky I think. It took me 4 Weeks though to get the refund and they have said to me there is still a back log of refunds they have to process.
I cannot believe that they are still doing this though. I think someone called Michael is now in charge so try emailing help@roomsnet.com and ask for him explaining what you had been told and what's happened. They seem to respond it just takes them a long time to sort things out. I'd book somewhere else before you go so you don't get shafted when you're out there as paying at reception is so much more expensive than booking online, just use an ABTA or ATOL protected site. Travel Republic are brilliant and helped us when we got stranded in Salou. Good Luck! |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
the agent i spoke to last night was michael ??? and he said it had been paid for ?so i have just sent them a nasty email saying i dont like being lied to we will see what happens now .when they refunded you did they ask for all your bank details ? were you not worrid that they could have taken all your money out of your bank ? just booked with travel republic but we go tomorrow morning so its fingers crossed our confirmation gets here in time as all there computers have gone down and she said if i dont get my vouchers on time they will have to refund my money ??
---------- Post added at 16:27 ---------- Previous post was at 16:16 ---------- just recieved a email from them and they said they were sorry and they had only had a few cases of things going wrong and they will refund my money in around 2 weeks ?? we will see |
Re: roomsnet.com warning

Funny how you can still book and yet they can't pay your hotel bill....

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Hi everyone,
I was conned by Roomsnet also. I have also received an email (just a few days ago) from roomsnet telling me I will be refunded in 2 weeks, I'll hold them to it though!! However could I advise people who booked through Visa Debit Card to try their bank again. After speaking to the financial ombudsman and Trading Standards, who both advised me of the same thing, apparently debit card holders should also be entitled to a refund from their card issuer. Just ring up the bank and tell them you would like to make a claim through "the charge back scheme" saying that you paid for a service which you never received - (they quoted section 75 of the regulations whatever that means!!) - but they were adamant that by law we are still entitled to a refund. Now I haven't tried this yet as I booked off someone else's card and need to chat to them first to get them to ring their bank but if anyone else it stuck and would like to have a go, it's worth a try!! |

Re: roomsnet.com warning
You are fantastic Cathyf I will try this tomorrow and let you know. Why should it be different if you use your credit or debit card. The bank should still have a loyalty of care to its customers to stop people like this scaming so many hard working people out there. I hope that everyone keeps going till something is done about this it really helps speaking to others in the same boat.
Just wish it hadn't happened to anyone of us x:shocked: |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
having seen your website i have just received a telephone call for help(i am travel agent with co-op travel group) from 16 persons stranded in benidorm who arrived today 7th OCT with no rooms available.
They are booked with roomsnet.com and i hyave tried speaking to them but they are giving clients money back(so they say). I have investigated further and have spoken to the hotel and also servigroup customer services(owners of hotel)and they have confirmed that rooms.net have gone into liquidation and all contracts with the hotel are null and void. I have also spoken to the wholesaler in spain who i have dealt with for years (hotelbeds.com)and they have confirmed the same thing along with another agency. Roomsnet.com are now answering from sri lanka so beware as they have no ABTA cover or ATOL cover in the uk. I would contact your banks asap and put them on warning as they may be able to claw funds back. Any assistance you need please call and i will help you in any way i can. regards colin gattours uk 01283 535610 |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
Colin,
Are you absolutely sure that you really want to publish your telephone number on a site that is open to the entire world to read, and offer assistance in this manner? Are you sure that your employers (I'm assuming you're not self employed) will be quite happy for you to do this? If you're positive then fair enough, and fair play to you, but I would urge you to consider very carefully what you're doing. If you want it removed please let me know and I'll edit the post and take it out. |
Re: roomsnet.com warning
I'm sorry to see more people are still being ripped off by roomsnet since i started this thread on cable forum and on other forum sites. All I can say to people is ( at the risk of sounding repetative) is contact your hotel/aprtments direct before you go on holiday, the quicker you do this the quicker you can get booking elsewhere if you need to and get the ball rolling for refunds. Please contact your bank/card issuer ASAP. Keep at roomsnet via any way possible.
Contact your local trading standards office and the bbc watchdog programme and anyone else you can think off that can help. I've been lucky and got my money back through visa but i am not letting this drop. We all need a cause and this is mine. People work hard for that 1 or 2 weeks away and to have it snatched away at the last minute is not on. Keep at it and we should ALL get our money back. |
