It looked like there was going to be but its apparently just the same game released in 5 episodes. Strange move this far into a games life I think.

It's a rip. Its like (or is!) Games On Demand for £19.99 - games that you can buy at retail or tinternet for £5 to £10

Game dispatched my copy yesterday for some reason. Either a mistake or instructions for Royal Mail to hold it up.

Just ordered. Hope its good as there so much choice at the moment am finding it difficult to decide what to get and what to leave for a while.

Re: Fable III

I had yesterday off work, & have put well over 10 hours into it already. I love it. Played in the afternoon. Went out for dinner. Played again Friday night... through to 7am Saturday :erm:

The "Sanctuary" (the room which you have instead of a normal pause-menu) takes some getting used to, but does work fairly well once it's all unlocked.

The story is great, & the voice cast are excellent. Finally met Stephen Fry & Jonathan Ross' characters last night.

Graphically it isn't amazing, but it does look good.

Combat works well. Like Fable 2, you simply have one button for melee, one for magic, & one for your gun.

Instead of having the power of "Will" like the previous games, your character wears special gauntlets which channel your innate magical power. You can eventually unlock the ability to wear two at once, & "weave" two spells together. My Hero is currently using Fireball & Shock, which is quite cool. My Hero has got a nice glow now 'cos of so much magic use.

Your ranged & melee weapons mutate over time depending on how you play.

The "Road to Rule" where you spend Guild Seals (XP) to unlock new abilities works fairly well.

Don't have much of a property empire yet, just a growing selection of Stalls.

EDIT:

Only real annoyance so far is the glowing trail. It messes up sometimes...

Well he does talk a bit of crap here and there but when him and his team get it right they really do get it right. If he just stopped making false promises he'd have a little more credibility.

Re: Fable III

Good stuff :tu:

I finished the main story on Sunday night. Loved it. Not my fave game of the year (that's Mass Effect 2, followed by Red Dead Redemption), but definitely one of them.

Buggy, yes. Slowdown at times, yes. But it's still great...

The title update is due in a few weeks, by the way, so will hopefully iron out the main bugs.

Oh, & make sure you make lots of money :)

Finished the main story to, Great game. Really started to annoy me the slowdown at certain points but luckily it didn't last to long when it did happen. Really didn't like the new setup when interacting with people much prefaired how it was setup in Fable 2.

Really liked the sanctuary idea and how it was implemented. I didnt think I would when I read about it but they did a real good job with it and it felt very easy and natural to use while playing the game.

Am with Matt. Make sure you build up plenty of Gold ;)

Yeah, I was very sceptical about the Sanctuary at first, but it actually worked well. As a way for your character to be able to select from a vast choice of weapons & clothes, it also makes more (in-game realism) sense than simply hitting Pause & using a menu.

LOL. Be sure to invest in Shops & Houses as soon as you can...

Re: Fable III

Spoiler:

The part where you are king and/or queen is very clever. I think it would spoil it to know in advance that you need a lot of money, although to be honest I think it's almost impossible unless you buy a lot of property and let the game wait to generate a good chuck of change. Also selling the property but doing so before the last day, it sneaks up on you from day 121 to day zero.

Still it's makes it very difficult. Do you keep your promises, appear good but ultimately do something bad. Sure you stop child labour but that's another 500,000 dead! Do you break all the promises, become your brother, but save everyone and be good. The Dark Night as Batman would call it.

Although to be honest I wanted the third option. Defer all decisions for a year. :dozey:

Re: Fable III

^^^^^ Post-Revolution spoilers there btw in case anyone wonders ;) :)

And here:

Spoiler:
Yup. I've read loads of comments from people moaning about it hitting you out of the blue, & saying "Oh, well, if I'd known I needed that much money I wouldn't have rushed through..." etc.

No sympathy for the moaners. It tells you as soon as you become King/Queen that you need 6.5million just to pay for the defence... And as soon as you start making Treasury decisions with Hobson, & Royal Rulings in the Throne Room, it's fairly obvious that "Good" decisions cost money and "Bad" decisions bring in money. Every load/save points out the current state of the Treasury and what the projected casualty rate is. Anyone who rushes through without building their money pile up, despite the obvious need for tonnes of money, & despite the ever increasing pace of the final "Royal Days" (each time a "Royal Day" ends, it jumps forward by an even higher number), deserves an empty Kingdom. Bit skint? Don't bloody go to the Throne Room then! Go off Questing, & make some money with property.

As you say, unless you invest heavily & make loads from shops & rent, you have to either be "Nice"... but let everyone die. Or be "Nasty" & end up a tyrant like Logan... but everyone lives.

Re: Fable III

Did anyone else get the addon section?

I thought it was a bit weak myself as it was all too easy to complete it in less than an hour.Plus as in Reevers old house did we really need another arena type addition?Or yet another shooting range courtesy of the Mercenary village.Far too like the last addition to Fable 2..I'm very disappointed. :(

Re: Fable III

I didn't bother with the DLC, as I'd finished the story & moved on to another game by the time it was released.

If they had released it earlier*, I probably would have bought it. I may well get it whenever I decide to re-play the whole game (I want to re-play the trilogy at some point).

*[Which they actually did, accidentally...IIRC, the Understone DLC was mistakenly released around the time of the game's release, & some people did actually buy it from the Marketplace before MS realised & pulled it.]
