I once lost a dog back up in Scotland some 20 years ago now.I say "lost" but he actually tunneled his way out under the back garden fence.
Needless to say,i was extremely upset that Roy had gone and although i reported him missing to everybody & anybody it was all to no avail.Roy was gone. About 3 months later i was just getting ready for bed when i heard a strange scratching noise at the door.I listened a bit more and sure enough some fool was trying to get in my flat,as far as i was concerned anyway. A minute or so later, armed to the teeth,i approached the door with a bit of stealth,so as not to be seen through the letterbox if this joker had a peek...the last thing my enraged mind wanted was to frighten him/them?? off ... I crept up from the side and got my beady eye over the spyhole, with my body twisted at a strange angle around the letterbox.Just at that moment the scratching began again and what a fright i got...i just about fell on my head with the weird angle i was standing.I knew the bugger must have heard me by now so i flew up and yanked that door open, ready to give chase..Low & behold the only attacker out there was my long lost Roy.He was all over me,piddling all over me as he also tried licking me to death.Little did he know that i`d almost piddled myself too.:erm: He`d apparently been picked up by some kind stranger a couple of weeks after we`d lost him,10 miles from where i actually lived:confused:. The stranger had taken him to a local cat & dog home and from there a family had adopted him. They lived about 2 minutes from where he had actually vanished. They could never figure out why he always tried pulling them in the wrong direction. He had escaped from the new owners while tied outside our corner shop. Both of us wanted the other to keep Roy but it was blatantly obvious where Roy himself wanted to be.The blokes little girl remained friends with Roy till the day he died some 6 years later. The bloke himself is still one of my best friends some 20 years later. And for my own "awwww" moment.. We have a family of foxes that live at the backs of our houses(our`s & neighbors)..One of the neighbors started a fire yesterday and it caused this. Attachment 18541 Whether they were burning garden rubbish or trying to smoke the foxes out remains to be seen. There was 4 that we know of although only one has been seen since the fire.It was out howling for it`s mate/cub? most of the night. |

Amazing that dog story, that wolf cub!!! omg I just want to take him/her home! What a sweetheart.
The fox story is heart breaking if they did do it on purpose I hope they get the book thrown at them! |

We think the foxes den may be in next doors garden because the bottom third of his is full of junk and completely inaccessible. The foxes sunbathe atop the bar he`s built down there most mornings. Then again, the gardens are all really big and a few people seem to have the back end blocked off so the actual den could be anywhere. The missus did call the RSPCA this morning though but they told her she would just have to black bag the dead animal and dispose of it herself,or call the local authorities pest control. The RSPCA didn`t seem too interested in the fact that it had been a family of 4 but we only knew of one live one at the moment. |

Even knowing exactly where they were though would be no walk in the park for anyone trying to catch them. |
