Hi all, For the last couple of days all i get when i try to connect to my ntl webspace is

i havn`t changed anything in my ftp program as i`m using saved settings but now i can`t update my website,
anyone got any ideas or is it just virgin being rubbish

I've had the same problem since July 13th. No sense from Virgin - but I'm speaking to their broadband expert on Friday. Do you by any chance live in East Anglia? I'm wondering if it could be a regional problem.

actually just figured it`s not a permissions error on my part as i can`t even see the files,if it was permissions,i would still be able to log in just not do anything once in,permissions error is 550,i`m not getting this.
Must be Virgin as i have just tried to log in on my works pc and the same thing happens

Unless your works IP Address is that of VirginMedia ex-NTL then you won't be able to connect.

If you haven't already done so then you'll need to contact the support team.

I can`t get on the news groups,wont let me log on,

If it is an issue it will need to be raised to IT and that takes up to 5 working days. So he'll come and tell you his is fixed and then you'll call and have to wait that extra length of time.
Why not just call and be done with it?

If i knew what time i could call when i would actually get an english speaking person that isn`t reading straight out of a book and actually knows what they`re talking about then please tell me, and i`m not being racist,just i can never understand what they`re saying. plus it`s a pain in the ass when they say they`re gonna send an engineer out between the hours of 8am and 8pm,oh well thats a help and some people have to work and can`t be at home till 6pm so it`s awkward.
Sorry i just fancied a bit of a rant,feel much better now,very theraputic.
I will call them at some point this week definately

you have to be at your 'home' location to login to the virgin newsgroups, can you get the general usenet groups at all?

Yeah i know i have to be at my home location,don`t know about other newsgroups as i don`t use them,i don`t normally use newsgroups,they`re kind of sooooo 1990`s lol

Virgin corrected a permissions issue - but I still could not get ftp access! They then replaced my modem - and all is well! HURRAH! And particular thanks to Steve at Virgin who turned out to be the only person of the many I spoke to who could help me.

:mad: I can't let the wind on this thread go. I have the problem that I cannot upload to my homepage.ntlworld.com/username website. I cannot delete files either.
Log Sample:

< 200 PORT command successful.

BTW, I use LeechFTP and this program works fine for three other websites I maintain.

well i`ve now called them,as usual i got through to someone i could hardly understand and who wouldn`t listen to me when i tried to tell them possible causes,they then said they would speak to an engineer and call me back shortly and they didn`t so now i`ve got to call them again tomorrow evening as i will be at work during the day,god i love virgin support

A lot of people are having the same issue on the newsgroups and they have been sorting them out. So, first you need to set up newsgroups, for the set up guide click here. Once you have set them up you need to go on the virginmedia.support.webspace newsgroup and report the problem.

http://www.virginmediapeople.com/nps/call.html puts a face on the support team, but I did have a v long conversation with someone last night who did not resolve the situation.

Added myself to the list of annoyed people. WOW what a long list of irrate people. This is the most inefficient way of fixing a problem. I'd like to charge my time to VM for the hours I have wasted in the last 2 weeks trying everything I could think of to correct the problem at my end, but there isn't even an awareness of the problem when you ring 150 in in the UK evening time for assistance. The attitude from the helpdesk I got was "it must be your fault". Furthermore VM's website is a disaster to find anything on.

Well done for taking fast action, 2nd line will see your post in the morning and raise it to IT and in up to 5 working days your webspace should be up and running.
