[update] Firefox 3.5 now available

Just a heads up for anyone using Firefox, you can now download Firefox 3.5 (release candidate 1).

Source and download link: Neowin.net

Re: Firefox 3.5 RC1 now available

It's not on the Beta Page http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

Nor does the b99 update to it

It's a little bit early then as it's installed and running great here. Mass release and auto update from Beta 4 on Friday then, for those who want to wait. :)

:( I'm a total coward when it comes to new programs. I can't stand the idea of everything going pear shaped so I have been keeping a close eye on when to RC is coming out. If thousands download it over the week end I may risk it next week. :D

I installed Beta 4 last week and it's running perfectly and super fast. The only real issue might be a theme or addon that might not work that you use.

My intellect believes you but the little worry wort sitting on my shoulder insists that you are just one of the lucky ones whose successful use of the beta 4 version is a fluke. :D

Re: Firefox 3.5 RC1 now available

Sorry if this is a silly question but I am considering downloading Firefox RC2 and I can't find the answer on the net. :dunce:

http://www.pcworld.com/article/16706...irst_look.html

I have 2 extra Firefox profiles which I use concurrently with my main profile and use them for running click programs. One with my VM IP and another with a VM proxy IP.

Now for the probably silly question.....If I download a Firefox 3.5 RC using my main profile will the other 2 profiles automatically use 3.5 or will they still use 3.11?

Re: Firefox 3.5 RC1 now available

Yes it will Jo.

Oh, and RC2 en-GB is available here:

Thanks Cobby, that's what I was afraid of.

I will have to check that the click exchange supermode add-on is geared up to handle it :( and there's me all psyched up to be brave and kick my worry wort in to touch. :D

Just installed the development build of Tab Mix Plus as the latest stable doesn't work with 3.5.

Doesn't seem to be working well at all, pity as it handles multiple tabs well in 3.0 :(

I'm back, and running FF3.5 RC2,....which may disappoint some ...but thrills me no end. https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2013/01/8.gif

Shame I have lost my lovely Whitehart. Puzzled why the automatic checks after installation said neither Supermode nor Reload add-ons had workable versions when they were available , anyhow I have downloaded later versions of both and all my profiles seem to be working OK up to now. <worry wort mode on again>

Thanks for the moral support guys. https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2009/07/22.gif

OH and sorry SnoopZ, only brewed enough for one cup, you will have to speak up quicker next time.

I've had no problems with it, i installed the latest dev build when i had firefox 3.5 beta4 and it's been working with RC1 and 2 just fine, unless i can't see what's not working.

Im using this theme at the moment, i do wish more themes worked with it though! https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5394

SnoopZ, would you mind trying this theme & seeing if TMP works with it? I get no protected tabs, no session restore, no close buttons on tabs, in fact hardly anything works!

Kempelton. Much too colourful for me. Whitehart with an overlay of Brushed metal from the Personas range suited me fine, reflecting my restrained and retiring personality. :D

I would think there will be a flurry of updates to add-ons and themes once FF3.5 is properly released at the end of the month.

I can't get the protected tabs working with your choice of theme either, not sure how to try session restore.

Updated to the new RC today, also disabled the location aware browsing, shame they didn't have an option to turn it off in the options, instead of having to go into about:config.

I don't use that site but i remember it looking exactly the same years ago when i installed Opera.

I actually thought that site was dead and wasn't being updated anymore.

[edit]

It looks the same in IE8, Chrome and Safari too.

Been away from the PC since my last post. 3.5 was ready to be installed when I came back.

Exif viewer 1.45 has been disabled, not a major problem, but also could turn out not to a minor one either.

The official 3.5 british download is still showing the build number (Build 20090624025744) in the top bar of Firefox, i'm guessing it's a cockup and shouldn't be there? Does everyone else have this?

Very strange. I was running the Rc3 before and i even uninstalled it but still wrong. I'll try a different download link soon.

[edit]

I tried the US version of the install and it still does the same! Looks like i'm stuck with it or i edit the registry.

[edit2]

Problem solved, the tag is put there as part of the nightly tester tools addon.

Re: [update] Firefox 3.5 now available

Excuse the double post.

For those wishing to upgrade to the latest firefox using the distro *buntu

Download the latest Ubuntuzilla.deb and install.

Open terminal and:

ubuntuzilla.py -a install -p firefox

For the latest Thunderbird:

ubuntuzilla.py -a install -p thunderbird

For the latest Seamonkey

ubuntuzilla.py -a install -p seamonkey

Follow the prompts in terminal.
You will be notified of new releases in the future, just like when using windows.

Upgraded fine with Yast on OpenSUSE. And it really does feel faster.

Re: [update] Firefox 3.5 now available

Cheers xocemp thought it was a bit annoying having to manually download Seamonkey et al unzip etc for each new release. Using Mint here so I'll try that later, thanks to Aragaorn also, openSUSE is on another partition so I'll make sure that updates properly.

saying that, i haven't noticed any speed change using firefox 3.5 in XP at work, good excuse to surf more :)

Cheers

Al
