Game of Thrones : Season 1
http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=20253
Never heard of the books myself, but they sound quite interesting, & HBO has a good track record for quality TV. |

I started to read book one but lost interest early on due to the way the story was written but I may just dig the book out and try again.
A later update to your link shows that HBO still seem to be interested Quote:

ROFL, I didn't realise the article was so old - I copied the link from a thread at DS which I now realise is from 2007 & simply got bumped this week!
Ooops... However, according to the post at DS which bumped the thread... http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...3#post32317253 Quote:

The books are very hard to read but I suspect that they may well work better as a visual drama..:erm:

|
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
I've read all the books so far in the series (ongoing), which I really enjoyed.
Can't get Sky (Too many Trees), so I'm interested to hear any views on the programme, Might have to wait for the DVD !! |
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
No surprise with HBO but it's been renewed already...

Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
I really liked the first episode. Definitely going to keep watching.
If there's anyone else like me who felt they could do with more info on the characters & the backstory, but don't want to risk Wikipedia etc. due to spoilers, then have a read of the official Viewer's Guide on the HBO website...Loads of info, without (presumably) giving too much away. http://viewers-guide.hbo.com/game-of.../guide/houses/ |
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
I have just watched this and thoroughly enjoyed it especially as it was without a single ad break.;):D

LOL. My kids are all old enough.
Its certainly .... um ... full on. Interesting first ep, naughty brother eh. I'll be keeping with it for now. |
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
Reminder:
Episode 2 is now available, for those watching in pace with the US. For those at CF who have Sky Atlantic, episode 2 will be shown tonight. |
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
Watched about 25 minutes of the first ep so far.
Looks good. Seems like a more adult version of Merlin in some ways, but enjoyable none the less. Good to see a largely British cast. Also, the sets are amazing. The music lends it a nicely "Epic film" type feel, and the acting is good. Nice to see Lena Headey acting as well.. |
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
Second episode very good indeed. There really are some nasty slimely charectors.
Difficult to choose a side so far |

Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
Very good second episode. My only issue with the series so far is that it isn't always very clear how much time has progressed. Great cast & sets, though, and an extremely interesting story.
---------- Post added at 20:28 ---------- Previous post was at 20:28 ---------- Oh, & the opening titles are brilliant. Really well done. |

I'm really enjoying this so far. As much as i enjoy high fantasy games, books etc, few TV shows have done anything for me but this has outdone my expectations.

Does no one like to use spoilers any more on here just in case other readers do not want these details about the episode they have yet to view.
|
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
Gonna have to give this a go as I'm all out of my current stuff.

Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
Great episode. Halfway there, now.
I've started reading the books. I finished "A Game of Thrones" last week, & I'm now halfway though book 2, "A Clash of Kings". Brilliant. Can't put them down. |

Farewell, Lord Eddard :(
Only one episode left... Having read the book (well, all the books actually), I know what's coming and can only say this: it should be awesome... |
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
I'm saving the books for when I am on holiday (in six weeks time).
|
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
Almost finished the second book, can't wait to see some of the new characters on screen.
The finale to season 1 was brilliant and I loved every second. I particularly liked the last scenes at Castle Black. |
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
Finally managed to catch up with watching GoT after a few busy weeks.
Brilliant series, I can't wait for season 2, and I'll probably pick up the first few books next week. Seems the theme is popular too, with a number of different takes on the original http://blastr.com/2011/07/11-stunning-and-often-odd.php |
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
5th book in the series (A Dance With Dragons) is now available on Amazon (other booksellers are available).
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dance-Dragon...0570929&sr=1-1 1040 pages..... |
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
Some casting news for season 2:
(may be some minor spoilers in the EW links) Margaery Tyrell - Natalie Dormer Brienne - Gwendoline Christie Davos Seaworth - Liam Cunningham Melisandre - Carice van Houten Stannis Baratheon - Stephen Dillane |
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
I kind of imagined Davos to look like Stephen Dillane and Stannis to look like Liam Cunningham!
|
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
Game of Thrones is effing fantastic! Best show on telly :D
|
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
Good to see Peter Dinklage get an Emmy last night.
http://www.sfx.co.uk/2011/09/19/game...mmy-this-year/ Shame GoT didn't win more though, was an excellent series. |
Re: Game of Thrones : Season 1
A well deserved win for Peter Dinklage :)
