Play.com Pre Orders
 

Hey guys,

I have Pre Ordered The Sims 3 from Play.com (queue the raised eyebrows and Oh my god are you sad). This was ordered on 26/04/2009. The game isnt released over here until the 05/06/2009. My question is, with pre orders from Play do you get them on release day? I have looked on the site, but cant find anything about Pre Ordering.

Whenever I've pre-ordered something in the past i either get it on day of release or on occasion a day before.

Same here, normally the day of release or the day before - Play have never let me down in that respect :tu:

I've only ever been let down by Amazon (well their Chocolate sorry Indigo Starfish Jersey operation)

Whenever I've pre ordered from Play it's always arrived a day or so before or on the day at the latest.

I ordered a batch of Ipod socks from play the once, paid around £18 for them...

Guess what they sent me?

Lol when i called them some irish guy called Stewart hung up on me before finally getting it resolved with some other bloke! lol

Always used to use Play for my games before shopto. I found that most pre-orders came on release day with the odd one a day before. did get one after release though to.

I will be playing Sims 3 at some point must say Sims 2 has been a laugh at times . I dont care what anyone thinks ;)

Same here Zing, I dont know if I will be getting Sim's 3 but I dont really care what anyone think's of the games I play or the Show/Movies I choose to watch. As long as I enjoy them thats all that counts in my mind :)

I have had in general a release due for Monday arrive on Saturday :)

One arrive on the Friday.

I haven't tried ordering from play.com. but basing from these, i think i should definitely try them! any other thoughts guys?

I like the free roaming you have to visit other sims and they dont just visit you.

I have used Play for all my DVD/CD/Game purchases, and have never had a problem, but as I have never tried pre ordering anything, I thought I would ask what the process was like, and hence these guys that have already posted in this thread offer sound advice anyway. :tu:

There pre-order system is simple. Its basically the same as making a normal order with them. It all goes through the same way but you wont be charged until the day of dispatch I think possibly 1-2 days before dispatch.

Never pre-ordered games but I have books and they've always arrived either the day before or on the day of the release

Just spoken to play, and they say it will be sent out on the 4th or 5th, which means I wont get it on release day. Im gonna cancel and order with Amazon I think.

You might still have got it on release date or maybe the saturday.

Remember its not down to play.com but the Royal Mail postal service when you get the game delivered.

Also they have free postage. You will only get it in time from amazon if you pay for the next day delivery!

It really bugs me when people complain about deliveries from companies when its actually Royal Mail causing the delays.

That's not always true. Amazon and ebuyer often use the same delivery method to send your parcel whether you use free delivery or pay for it, but if you select free delivery, they just don't process your order for a few days.

When I've pre-ordered games from play.com or game they've arrived the day of release, or 1 day either side. i can't remember about Amazon.

I got a "Your order has been posted" email from play.com today for The Sims 3 which I pre-ordered for the missus.

I can't recommend www.shopto.net enough. They're cheap and offer free 1st class recorded postage. Every game i've pre-ordered (at least 5 or 6 so far), i've received the day before release or even earlier. A couple of weeks ago i ordered UFC 2009 at 1:30pm on a Friday and received it Saturday morning. They also send free text messages to let you know when the item has been dispatched.

always ordered my dvd's through play and normally they are there on the saturday for monday releases.... games I havent ordered for a while from play so cant comment on that.

I just checked my order history on Play.com, Sunday I made my 153 to 160th :shocked: order (Red Dwars series 1 to 8)

total £2,429.04 :shocked::shocked: spent since Nov 2003

602 DVDs :shocked::shocked::shocked:.

Wow lol.

I used to use play for all my games and dvds and cds etc etc before I found shopto. Still buy most my dvds/cds/books from them.

My 40 orders from shopto are from 10/07 so just under 2 years. Comes to £1195.14 :shocked:

I had no idea I'd spent that much on gaming. Kinda makes me feel ashamed lol. Damn why they have to make so many good games !. That does include a console to though And a Wii fitness board so it add's a couple hundred on.

EDIT* Actually I just remembered I used to complete games and sell them straight on so made most of my money back until the last 6 months or so. I still sell the odd one but I keep hold of alot more nowdays.
