just signed up

Hey. I just signed up to virgin 50mb \o/ arrives on the 7th. Just a few questions, My pc doesnt have any wireless built in, so will that be a problem? How do virgin set it all up? Where do they run cables from etc? Im guessing, i could just use a ethernet wire plugged into the router they give me to my pc.
What do they bring when they come? what do they do excatly:s

Also would playing my xbox/ps3 online still work fine? At the moment, i have to change a few things to play them online, like settings work with xbox, but have to change them again to work for ps3.

Is there anything i should need to know before they come?

thanks!

Doesn't mean he would say that because of who he works for :)

They shouldn't touch the BT phone line/box. they'll install their own alongside it.

No as Virgin give you a USB adapter for the PC - along with the Wireless N router

Cables will run from the pavement to box on the front of the house. From there they will cable to where you want services. If possible they will run the cables around the outside of the house

All that you should need to do is put the WPA key into the PS3 and/or Xbox (if you have the Xbox wireless adapter). If not you can plug the Xbox into the back of the router and have the PC, PS3 and Xbox all online at the same time. Even if you split the connection equally each computer/console would have around 15Mbit

yes you can test it out and try it for 28 days - if no good, then you can cancel it and won't lock you into 12 months contract but you have to send the modem and router back to virgin yourself.

No it is all via cable without the need for a BT phone line and you will get one of these modems https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2009/05/4.jpg

They connect a cable from the cabinet at the end of your road to your property underground and then drill a hole through your wall and fit a box in your house and connect the modem up to it via a cable into whichever room you choose and you can connect a wireless cable router up to the modem to go wireless if required.

My neighbour had one of these installed by a woman tech. I don't know if he was joking or not but he said when she took it out the box and showed him, she looked down to see if he showed any reaction to it
