Re: Alan Bennet

Surely with that reply oh here we go i wont bother but i have now so what your saying is because you have never listened or read anything by alan bennet it shouldnt be discussed on a forum ?

chuzzlemonkey 15-03-2009 14:15

Re: Alan Bennet

No what we're saying is...

We can't understand you :wtf:

Raistlin 15-03-2009 14:16

Re: Alan Bennet

Seriously, read your first post out loud to yourself (or, better still, someone else) and tell me you honestly think it makes sense?

I'm not saying you can't post about Alan Bennet, I'm just suggesting that if you're going to you need to slow down a little and actually construct a post that's readable...

moaningmags 15-03-2009 14:16

Re: Alan Bennet

bjorkiii it's not that it shouldn't be discussed.
It's like you thought of multiple things in your head and typed it, sentences ending in mid sentence, changing to something else again and again, making it very difficult to understand.

Calm down! You can have as much say as you like. But if you'd like us to understand your view and respond to it take a bit of time with your post ;)

Re: Alan Bennet

Alan Bennet is a playright and I think you are reffering to Last of the summer wine with Thora Hird? I used to like her in that show where she and her son were funneral directors "in Loving Memory"

Everyone is entitled to a say, bjorkii - but you will get more discussion if your posts are easy to read and understand; why should people have to work at deciphering what you meant?

if you want your posts to be read at all it is up to you to construct them in such a way they do not need to be 'deciphered'.

Thank goodness for the ignore list ...

The will be plenty of people on here who love the works of Alan Bennett, and if unsure of who he is can always click HERE

Remember if you want discussion on your subject then as others have said please lay it out in a way we can understand.

You will enjoy your time on here once you learn to post your comments.

Re: Alan Bennet

I believe the OP is referring to Alan Bennet's series of monologues called Talking Heads..The story with the cracker starred Thora Hird I believe and referred to the poor unfortunate elderly woman who fell in her own home. She was left looking at the cracker that had fallen under her sofa in the time she was on the floor..It's being repeated on either BBC3 or 4

Quote:

1987 Talking Heads (A Chip in the Sugar, Bed Among the Lentils, A Lady of Letters, Her Big Chance, Soldiering On, A Cream Cracker Under the Settee)
From the link provided...and it was an excellent series in the true Bennet attention to character and everyday minutea.

I don't think that anyone was actually criticising Alan Bennet. I think people were just having trouble understanding the first post.
