E-mail From VM
I am still trying to work out just what in the name of all that is holy the point of this email is, I have after some consideration decided that it's an e-peen waving exercise after earlier BT announcements.

Stop with the fibre optic nonsense. I regard broadband as being fibre optic when the glass is coming through my wall. I strongly suggest Virgin google hybrid fibre coaxial. Quote:

Re: Spam From VM
I loved reading that, I take it you replied with the same responses then?

Re: Spam From VM
I'm just surprised that Virgin actually have a reasonably up to date e-mail contact list ;)
If they had tried to send something like that when was ntl the servers probably would have crashed with amount of 'undeliverable' returns |
Re: Spam From VM
You mean Richard has sent it to other people and not just me?

The snidey comment about fibre optics and the government was entertaining too, not entirely accurate and totally pointless for advertising the new extras pack. Then there's that the most asymmetrical ISP in the country is wittering on about uploading of content both for backup and sharing. Kinda hard not to reply ironically. |
Re: Spam From VM
I'd replace the G in "wanger" with something 4 letters further along the alphabet Broadbandings. ;)

Nope, because I signed up with a Yahoo address. And nothing's dropped in there yet. ;)

Re: Spam From VM
That's the problem though - I would say more people don't know/don't use the default e-mail than do.
Probably more on the ntl side though |
Re: Spam From VM

Re: Spam From VM
Don't take this the wrong way. I too am fully aware that the fibre doesn't come to my house. However, as I've mentioned to you before, I believe the point is that they use enough fibre and far enough out to the customer to mean that physical cabling is not a speed limiting issued for Virgin at any of their current product levels.
This in my opinion is a huge advantage over ADSL and I think it is fair that Virgin should use this fact in their marketing. I think that since it is mainly due to the fact that they have fibre going further to the customer that they have this advantage justifies their focus on fibre in their adverts. |

Re: Spam From VM
I read that email and was thoroughly disappointed.
I thought we were all going to get bumped up a speed for free, but no. It's going to offer external backup. Big woop. |
Re: Spam From VM
Hey Broadbandings, guess what just dropped into my Yahoo inbox? :)

There was me thinking I was the only person who got it. I must be well down his Crimbo list as I only got it at 4.30 p.m.

Re: E-mail From VM
OK, I just got the email and it managed to get my back up too. I don't mind the use of fibre being bandied around, but not without any mention of STM or the huge problems a lot of us are having with speed (I hope they didn't email anyone in Sheffield!).
The real reason for this post is that as far as I was aware, NTL bought Virgin Mobile and part of the deal was to be able to use Virgin branding. Is that not correct? So that means we are fundamentally still dealing with NTL right? So what the heck has Richard Branson got to do with anything? NTL bought Virgin Mobile, Virgin didn't buy NTL. Also, has this thread changed title since yesterday??? I spent ages looking for a thread with "Spam" in the title. Maybe I'm just going mad... |
Re: E-mail From VM
It has indeed changed.
RB acts as a 'figurehead' to Virgin Media, they pay him for the Virgin name and personal appearances. They sent it to everyone, a guy in an area that is probably the worst in the country where residents are banding together with a view to possible legal action due to their service being so poor was well pleased when he received it ;) |
Re: E-mail From VM
I have not received this email yet, but with a bit of luck my Spam filter will kill it.
|
Re: E-mail From VM
I received it yesterday and was amused to see that WOT had put red warning icons all over it. Even the link back to Virgin Media was marked with a warning sticker. :D

Re: E-mail From VM
Just imagine Richard's smug grin when you read that email, though obviously he didn't write it himself :p
