Great News - Rab is coming back
 

It has just been announced, that the best show on Scottish Tv, and to me the rest of the country, is that my old mate Rab C Nesbitt, is coming back.

Following the success of the Xmas Edition, they are going to make six new episodes of this great tv show. With Gregor Fisher eager to return to the part - great news.:)

I am a fan of Rab C but I thought the Xmas show was utter p*sh. I'll veiw the new lot with interest though.

Excellent. BBC Scotland has been repeating one of the later series recently, and it's whetted my appetite for more. I enjoyed the Christmas special, however it was interesting to compare Rab C with more recent BBC Scotland comedies like Chewin the Fat and Still Game (both of these have been networked around the UK as well, although not normally in the peaktime slot they get when screened on BBC1 Scotland, normally on a Friday night). There are some excellent writers and comedy performers in Scotland at the moment, and for me it is the existence of that talent, rather than anything lacking about Rab himself, that made Rab's Christmas special look just a little less fresh than it might have.

I thought they made some great gags out of the fact that BBC Scotland has now moved more or less onto Rab's doorstep though. :D

I think that RCN, is the best of Scottish comedy, l must confess however, the Xmas one, was bit tame, to his normal wit, But l think this was just a taster of more to come, to see if people still took to him.

They say that the Scottish have a way of bringing out the best of comedy, and Rab does that, it would be great if a new family came into it, so that Rab, can have a go at - too me he is 'Gold' or as Rab would say ' See me' giss it' and the thing is, he gets away with it.

Still Game is definitely better. Incidentally Rab C Nesbitt isn't on STV, (ITV in Scotland), he's made by BBC Scotland.

I used to like my weekly dose of Rab C but he`s just no as funny seeming noo a-days.....mmmmm....Mabey i`ve lived down here too long:erm:

Unfortunately, it wasn't that civilised (never was a word more inappropriate) - sabres, machetes, hatchets, cleavers, and very large kitchen knives were the "weapons of choice" in the late 60's/early 70's.

They did leave a mark.:shocked:

I'm afraid Glasgow is still the knife crime capital of the UK, despite the hard PR work that has been done trying to dispel the image of the 1950s razor gangs. It does tend to be confined to inter-gang conflict nowadays though, rather than being a big problem for innocent passers-by.
