Absolutely I love having to watch the people in front excavating each others faces with their tongues. Perhaps banning is harsh though, not really a fan of banning stuff, to bad people cant be shamed into doing stuff these days.

From the article -
"If lovers want to smooch, they have to do so in the designated kissing area situated nearby"

So, not actually "banned" then?

Nope..

I have to admit, it seems a little extreme to me, but if they *are* causing an obstruction while kissing then, tbh, I think they (the kissers) should be a little more considerate of other people.

Remember people are often selfish. It may be very romantic having a last kiss before you leave, but you also may be blocking someone else from getting the train they need to.

I have to admit, there is something I sometimes wish they would ban at one of my local stations. Umbrellas. Because they are installing lifts in one of the two tunnels linking the platforms and the exit, they are down to one tunnel. As such, it gets busy in the morning, and can take 5 minutes to get into the tunnel.

When it rains, it takes an extra ten minutes because people insist on farting around putting their umbrellas down ane leaving it to the last possible second before they go under cover (can't risk the supposed bad luck by having an umbrella that is "up" when they go under the platform roof, but can't risk getting even slightly wet by putting their umbrella down while walking up to the covered part of the platform).

As I use Warrington Bank Quay on a regular basis I think I can add some appropriate comment! As usual I think its been blown out of all proportion and misses the original point, the signs are at best misguided, at worst a blatant waste of money that singularly fails to address the problem at Warrington station.

Even at busy times the station concourse is never that busy that kissing causes a problem for passengers on foot, its the people who get out of their car to kiss the departee leaving their car blocking the road! The fact that they now stop and gawp at the stupid signs makes it WORSE....

The redesign of the station has provided a single NARROW drop off lane outside the station. The approach road is veryshort and can lead to traffic backing up on to the main road. Its not the kissing thats the problem for pedestrains its traffic backing onto the road. I think the objective was to get people to drop off and go keeping the drop off zone free and unobstructed. If you park in a designated space then I think you be able to kiss to your hearts content...:)

By the way the signs have been up for at least two weeks so its good to see the media on the case............

In fact we should forget the real problem and have a laugh at the badly designed signs.:D

Dear O Dear. Whatever next. I presume these areas are for the use of all ethnic races, & religions, or will we see several "Designated Areas" emerge, for use by different groups.

I have to admit, I don't really understand why they need to ban kissing specifically. Assuming the band is to stop blockages in the area, surely banning loitering unless you are waiting for a taxi would be more effective..

Sign on Penrith Railway Station.....

Do not stand near the edge of the platform, or you are in danger of being sucked off!

:)

(Mods, please delete if deemed not acceptable but it is a real sign!)

I have a friend who tried banning kissing in his pub and the police got involved...

What happened was there were a man and a woman kissing and he asked them to stop as he didnt want that in his pub as it upsets some of his customers who are older.... they left and a few mins later 2 gay blokes came in and started getting touchy and feely and started kissing, and he said exactly the same to them, he wasnt being homophobic or singling them out and thankfully there were witnesses to it. They then reported him to the police and to the brewery for being homophobic.

In a superb bit of marketing opportunism, Chiltern Trains have announced that kissing is welcome in High Wycombe. I've no idea what the women in High Wycombe look like, but if you want to find out, try going by Chiltern Trains.

Something similar happened in one my local pubs. The two ladies were getting quite a bit of attention snogging. I don't think anyone was bothered by what they were doing and then they 5 mins later they were kicked out the pub for getting down to it in the loo

Funnily enough, none of the blokes seemed that bothered :p:

My take is that there is a time and a place for this type of behaviour and I don't see the ened for personal displays of affection.

I think that's exactly right. people ARE selfish. sadly it's a human trait and a abd one too. And consideration seems to be something many humans don't see as important.

I think even the mention of it, is pathetic. What will they ban next, going to the Station toilet, in case if offends anyone, The only thing l would ban, and this is on a serious note, when you are queueing up for something or on a train, and the couple directly in front of you, are having a good old snog, you wonder what, is going is going to happen, the slurping, they smell of bad breath, yuk.

The mention of toilet clearly offends the train companies. Most stations except the big main line termini seem to have long since locked such essential ameneites.

Sadly, I think that may be right. However a person no matter what their sexual preference,

Apparently they auctioned the sign for Comic Relief. Last I ehard was that there had been a bid of £190.
