Has he been caught in a drugs scandal? Has he been filtering money away from a charity?

No, he's offended the PM...

Gordon Brown has a glass eye and he is Scottish.

Surely people are allowed to say he is an idiot?

We are fast becoming a nation of over sensitve looking for offence wimps. There are some in this country that won't be happy until were all saying only what is decided is right for us by others who feel they are more superior then we comon folk. Personally anyone can say what they want to me and it can be as offensive as they like as long as they are prepared to get the same back and i certainly don't feel the need to go and get others involved or express my outrage at what one person may say to or about another. We really have got to grow up and start being adults because right now we have a culture growing in this country of bland conversation because say one thing wrong and your in for it because there are laws.

I don't fancy the idea of growing balls anywhere on my person!!!!!!

As far as Clarkson's comment goes, he used 2 accurate descriptions and 1 personal opinion. If the worse any Politician has been called is an idiot then I would think they would consider that they got off very lightly. :)

Re: This time it's Clarkson

In fairness, the one eyed scottish idiot himself doesn't seem to have commented.. Other people seem to be offended on his behalf.

Mind you, I would personally call GB something a lot worse. Particularly for his incompetant handling of the current financial crisis (he may not be directy responsibile, but the crisis can be at least partially attributed to the deregulation of banking which occured while he was chancellor of the exchequor).

Ah but he does have two-eyes so really he should have said he's a blind in one eye, Scottish idiot.

Just as well he didn't compare him to a cyclops or else Top Gear would be looking for a new host, although its the BBC and JC is a bit of a bigger name than Carole Thatcher so he'd have got away with it.

The one-eyed bit was in reference to the fact that GB can't see properly that there are big problems, whereas the Aussie PM could see that there are big problems and admitted it.

It's not what is said or done, but who says or does it. So Ken Livingstone can say to camera that he wishes the Saudi Royal Family to be dead and nothing happens.

If there is anything innapropriate about Clarkson's statement, it would be drawing attention to the disability. Its that which is probably the only ground that the politically correct civil rights mob might have some sort of tenous ground to whinge.

The point though is not necessarily what is said, it's how it's said and in what context. Judging by the article linked in the original post, Clarkson got it spot on.

Can I point out that the whinging has nothing to do with any so-called "politically correct civil rights mob", so that is, imho, a bit of a straw man.

Obviously you have never enjoyed his style of humour or wit tweetypie?

I think its refreshing that on his show he will have a dig at, take the urine or generally have a moan about anyone or anything that doesn't conform to planet Clarkson.

So what if he took the urine with his comments, he is only saying what the vast majority of the country is thinking and saying. Why should he apologise for his comments although his apology was only aimed at Browns personal appearance.

How many times has Brown stood there in the commons and said "We will be keeping one eye on the economy while doing blah, blah, blah".

Brown is big enough and certainly ugly enough to fight his own battles without having the jumped up PC brigade defending someone who has screwed over the British people.

Does anyone else think that our government has an ulterior motive for furthering this fuss? Like diverting our attention from their complete cock up of the economy and their apparent failure to reign in the banks?

I also (seriously) don't see why the various blind societies are getting involved. No one has suggested a link between blindness and stupidity. JC was stating a fact when he stated that GB is one eyed and Scottish. He was stating an opinion when he said GB is an idiot (which is an opinion I happen to agree witg).

As for the MPs getting involved, I'd be surprised if they hadn't called him a lot worse..

I think half the appeal of people like JC are that in a time where people seem to want vanilla personality he isn't and while most will not agree or even like his opinions the fact he won't toe a line laid down by others endears him to some. Sorry tweety i am not related to him though i have met him and chatted to him albeit briefly and can tell you that as fast as he can be to take the urine out of others he is just as quick to do it about himself and to a far greater degree. I actually like having people that talk their mind rather then the non offensive completely bland drivel most feel they have to speak these days to avoid getting into trouble.

This isn't Thailand or Spain. Aside from the usual slander/libel, we are free to have whatever opinions and are free to voice them about our elected government or monarchy. Just because they are PM or monarch, doesn't mean we should be censored whereas we could say the same thing about someone else. We shouldn't be made to feel guilty about exercising that right.
