Star Trek
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Virgin Media for getting to the end of season 5 of Voyager, mid-way through a cliffhanger 2-parter, and re-starting without warning at season 1.
I'm also deeply appreciative of their missing about half of season 5 of Deep Space Nine, and skipping on to season 6. Nice one Virgin. An excellent way to screen programmes. Just miss the ones you don't have, and hope nobody notices. And all in the space of a week. |
Re: Star Trek
Looks like they've employed a former controller of BBC2 to handle their programme scheduling. It used to drive me up the wall when the BBC did that to Star Trek and other similar stuff.

Re: Star Trek
lol im lucky ive been watching them on dvd. Was it the equinox episode?
I can tell you how it ends if you want. |
Re: Star Trek
It is deeply irritating but both Sky1 and BBC2 used to do a very similar thing through bits of the late 1990s. Is voyager s5 not available on tv choice on demand? Although that said there's probably an episode missing there, that's how that's run too.

Re: Star Trek
Seems like every channel is guilty of this..It's soooo annoying.
Unless of course you get two series that run concurrently on separate channels. It's happened with series 4 and 5 of Numbers.. :banghead: |
Re: Star Trek
Thread moved to entertainment since it's about the TV channel scheduling, not Virgin Media Cable issues ;)

Re: Star Trek
I've watched them all, but when you start watching them again you get addicted. So annoying, I turned on today and was confronted by Janeway's stupid season 1 haircut.
|
Re: Star Trek
Seriously, that haircut is *not* the worst thing about Voyager Season 1... :disturbd:
|
Re: Star Trek
I quite liked Voyager season 1. Like all the Star treks, Voyager took a season or two to get in it's stride though.
|
Re: Star Trek
Well I know how you feel, be like me and buy all the Star Treks on DVD (all 129 episodes) including The Animated Series.

Add to this the Kazon, a warp capable civilisation who seemed to prize simple water as the rarest of commodities. But as mentioned above Voyager did bed down to become a truly excellent series. |
Re: Star Trek
I think you are forgetting what happened later to Kes. They are quite a capable race
Also the Kazon stole their ships off the Trabe ;) |

1) A solar event caused there sun to go through an event which relusted in their planet heating up thus evaporating a load of their water. 2) A "man made" event that caused the same result as 1. |
Re: Star Trek
There are some excellent moments in Voyager. One of my favourite bits is where they're fighting the Krenem, and Janeway is saying goodbye to Tuvok before she flies Voyager into the timeship. Its a pretty powerful scene, although people who don't like Trek would just call me an idiot :)
I'm just ****ed off that I'll probably have to download them to watch the rest. I'm 'into' it now, and can't stop :( |

Or for that matter why not build another "space folding" drive when the original one packed up? I'm sure B'lanna could've knocked up one.:D I know you have to suspend a little judgement with any Sci-fi programmes to enjoy the fantasy, but the one that always sticks in my mind was on The Next Generation, the episode where Geordie and enson Ro Laren were out of phase on the Enterprise. IIRC the Enterprise was helping a Romulan Warbird who's engine core had become inert, anyhoo whilst out of phase Geordie and Ro were chasing a couple of aliens who had taken Romulan form and whilst out of phase they were shown to be able to move through walls and solid objects, which they both frequently did. Now I've always wondered why they never fell through the floor!! it must have been something to do with reversing the polarity of the replicators, then shunting the resulting power through the deflector dish which obviously caused horizontal surfaces to become solid...amazing what you can do by reversing the polarity of things.:D |
Re: Star Trek
Frog you put to much thought into this LOL :D
I've always wondered about things like this, same as why don't ghost just sink into the ground. My pet Star Trek hate is in TNG, whenever they call the call the Enterprise the federations flagship. Being that they use naval terminology, and that the lowest rank that would fly a flag is a Rear-Admiral, and Picard, is only a Captain, thats wrong. Actually now I mention it, Jean-Luc Picard, the worlds only French Yorkshireman. |

---------- Post added at 16:05 ---------- Previous post was at 16:03 ---------- As for the OP, apparently it has to do with Virgin 1 being on Freeview in the evenings only and them not wanting to deprive them of the different series as it has been many many years since almost all of Star Trek was on Terrestrial If they showed Voyager all the way through, it would take roughly 9 months <?> to get through it all, so two different series (VOY/DS9/TNG) would take over 1 1/2 years to get through. |
