Re: What Virgin Phone package do you use?
I picked the XL Phone package but pretty sure it's called Talk Unlimited.
Means I only pay for 0870 and 0845 calls, premium and mobile calls, all 01,02 numbers are free unless you go over 60 minutes. I have a bar on mobiles and premium rate calls as the kids rattled up £120 in call charges in one month to friend's mobiles. Always had this phone package. |
Re: What Virgin Phone package do you use?
Those are actually the correct names. And Virgin Media probably the Telewest side are confusing people by using both old and new names and its causing confusion!
I find Talk Anywhere good value since it covers 0845 and 0870 as well as mobiles and international numbers! |
Re: What Virgin Phone package do you use?
The phone size is XL
The name of it is Talk Unlimited as stated on the VM pages http://allyours.virginmedia.com/webs...ct.do?id=15163 or here http://allyours.virginmedia.com/webs...ervice.do?id=3 |

I also have kids who given the chance would, and have, racked up over a £100 in a month calling friends on mobiles, in this case like you Mags I've found the call barring option a brilliant idea for mobiles and premium rate numbers, not that the young'uns like it though.:D |
Re: What Virgin Phone package do you use?
See, I'm a sucker for those stupid, impossible to win quiz shows on during the night.
Without the bar, I'd have been the one racking up the call charges and not the kids. But can't redial with the *80 then the code then the number, so too much hassle that now I don't bother. |
Re: What Virgin Phone package do you use?
Another good thing about Virgin phone lines is that you can choose which Call baring you want.
Level 1: Bar Premium rate calls and calls 100 and 155: Free Level 2: Bars mobile, premium rate and 100,155: £1.75 Level 3: Bars international, mobile, premium rate and 100,155: £1.75 Level 4: Bars National calls, international, mobile, premium rate and 100,155: £1.75 Level 5: Bars all chargeable calls as well as 100,155 costs £1.75 Levels 2 to 5 include incomming call baring at no extra cost, To activate it dial *81, when people call your number whilst the bar is in place, they will hear the busy tone. The above is for the ex-telewest (Not Eurobell) franchises. With BT,when you block mobile calls,it also blocks national calls even though its same price as local dialing! Thats so outdated! And you dont get free premium rate call baring on that! |

For someone who is just interested in starting numerous polls about Virgin, you sure do rant about BT quite a bit :D |

The only good thing about BT are: Cheap calls to landlines 118500 Directory Enquiries incl www.118500.com BT Payphones They manage around 75,000 public payphones and considering the large number of vandals ect.... they are managed quite well, hardly ever come across a faulty payphone these days although there kiosks could be cleaned out bit more often in Central London. And they are quite competitive to in comparison to pay as you go mobiles, a 20 minute call to a landline during the day costs 40p, with Vodafone simply price plan that would cost £4! (20p per minute) and same with Orange. BT Vision is something I would go for if I couldn't get Virgin Media. I would never choose Sky Talk over BT or Virgin phone, its pointless wasting the time just switching to it considering how uncompetitive Sky Talk actually is. And as for BT Mobile the virtual network which piggybacks off Vodafone, They are way too uncompetitive! There are so expensive in comparison to what other networks can offer, T-Mobile offer 1,400 minutes and unlimited texts for £30 per month as a sim only deal online only otherwise its 700 minutes. Virgin Mobile offer 1,000 minutes and 1,000 texts plus free voicemail for £30 per month for Virgin Media customers. And last but not least,BT Broadband, probably the slowest broadband I have ever experienced and its quite overpriced too for what you get. Considering the sale of MMo2 (BT Cellnet,Genie and its mobile networks in Ireland,Holland and Germany and BT paging) where has the money gone??? They could have used it to upgrade the network to fibre optic! However, when using Dial up back in 2001/2 I found BT Openworld the best, its a shame they let things slip! |
