Fix my damn BB VM, I am sick to death of your lies.

So what is it with Virgin? Are they unable? Unwilling? Incapable? Incompetent or just plain old bloody useless? Month after month after damn month goes by and still I have this incredibly poor BB service. When It's good it's absolutely great, when it's poor I can't do a thing with it.

I'm way past the point of TS ever being able to offer any kind of useful information. The TS is really for people at the begging of their problems. I've lost count of the amount of people from VM who have promised me and given me dates for a fix and it just goes but and sod all happens.

It's just plain old utilisation and they have admitted it, so why don't they fix it? If it wasn't for the fact I hate SKY and really don't want to go back to BT I'd be long long gone. I wish VM would either sort it out or close down completely. That way I get a fix or I have to motivate myself to go elsewhere.

You could try this.

Download this TCP Optimizer and set to 4000

How abou trying to simple diagnostics first, before you moan? I for one am sick to death of people such as yourself, not doing anything to "help". Othr than moan liek a spoilt child. Do the things below.

At the times you are having issues, do the following

start >> run >> CMD >> ping www.virginmedia.com

Post the results

2nd >> Whilst in cmd >> tracert www.virginmedia.com

Post the results

3rd Visit, in your bowser, http://192.168.100.1. Go to Signal then post both up and down stream.

4th Speed test > www.speedtest.net post the results.

5th: http://gamefiles.virginmedia.com/blueyondergames/ chose two files, download them together, post the results.

6th, are you running any kind of router or are you direct to modem via ethernet.
Run all the above results, with both direct and none direct.

Clearly, these steps will be amost the same as TS ask you. This should give you some amunition to fire at them, when they try and blame it on Syware programs.

Also, if you have a router, repeat webcrawler2050's diagnostics with your computer plugged directly into the modem.

Also, make sure you are not confusing KB/s and Kb/s, as 448KB/s is what you should get from a 4Mb/s line.

(I only say this as you keep quoting KBS)

Re: Fix my damn BB VM, I am sick to death of your lies.

have vm given you any remedy number for the fault?

F000 + another 6 digits, if you have that i can check to see what the updates are on it, i know that not exactly what your wanting, but might help.

also, i have seen occasions, when these problems run for months, and also another one that was still on the status page after over a YEAR.

i think some of the replies to you in this thread have perhaps been a bit harsh considering it has been admitted to being a vm fault, altho i understand what they mean by peope who have a moan, but im guessing when you called up those tests suggested were already done with you. On the other hand though, no harm doing them again next time it goes down to make sure it is still the same issue that is affecting you.

could either be your equip or something else on the vm network.

It is harsh, but its the truth. Most people just moan, without no self diagnostics. This thread is the prefect one.

Also, if are not gettting the speed you are payin for, you can request a credit. 150 >> Option 3 > HOLD

when you have done all the testing and posting........and find out your UBR needs an Upgrade.........then the bloody date keeps moving "Subject to Change"......and you have another 7 months to wait.......It's time to move.......save yourself the stress.

I have cancelled every thing...and now advise friends and family to leave too...Virgin has gone crap........I have not rushed doing this, i have given Virgin chances after chances, only to see them fail, time and time again.........They have been for me simply rubbish....

I do hope you can get a result and not go through the ISP hell i have been through, with this company..........If you do find all your troubles are because your UBR needs and upgrade, good luck.....

Not true! If every time an ISP / Provider has a problem, you move, you will be moving around ISP's fo the rest of your life. To suggest a move is just stupid.

I have been dealing with this for over a year. I have not read passed the first line of your response in order to not get too wound up.

i know, i dont like people who are just on for a moan, but in this case the diags seem to have been done already and be a confirmed vm issue.

and i fully agree with you on changing the isp everytime you ahve a problem, and i wouldn't be recommending to family and friends to move just because of problems iv been having. they may have a perfect service be more than happy where they are, let them form there own opinions.

I am already on retention package 5. People here don't know the history of my BB with VM. Also they don't realise that I have to have cable and not SKY for a few reasons. I can't even use a regular rooftop aerial. Also I do not have a BT line. If I had one I would not be here moaning. I'd be gone, mainly because with a BT line there are many options.

NORMALLY - if you speak to retentions, something gets done!

Also while I am on thinking about things. I can download at full speed quite a lot of the time. I am not subject to STM, and when I am I know the difference.

I can download a large file and watch the speed drop and peek from one extreme to the other every few seconds. It can go from max to almost zero when it's really playing up ever and over again.

When it's being good, it just locks on and does what it's meant to do.

I have been dealing with retentions since December when it became obvious tech support were lost in their own paper work. As a last resort tech support always send out an engineer who always says. " Why have they sent me here? There's nothing I can do."

So you see, I have been through the system for a long time now.

No worries Webcrawler i thought you were a bit mad too at Virgin

ref post "What the hell is going on"???

Quotes.....So I was browsing around the net and noticed my connection was painfully slow and I mean like 1MB slow

and Still on the blower to them. God they dont half get on my nerves

also Nope No STM - confirmed by Tech Support. Engineer coming out tomorrow. TS advised my UBR was overloded.

Anywho - seems slightly better today. But not much

I could make a list just like this. But you'll have to take my word for it, I just simply left.

So you think an opening line of " How abou trying to simple diagnostics first, before you moan? I for one am sick to death of people such as yourself, not doing anything to "help". Othr than moan liek a spoilt child. Do the things below.
" is the way to go do you?

---------- Post added at 19:20 ---------- Previous post was at 19:17 ----------

I'm accused of "moaning like a spoilt child" and not doing anything to help" what do you want me to say to that? It's not like the best opening I ever read. If you're going to start off being offensive then why bother trying to help?

Hugh 18-05-2008 20:26

Re: Fix my damn BB VM, I am sick to death of your lies.

To be fair, you didn't state in any of your early posts about what diagnostics you had/hadn't done, so people (perhaps mistakenly) assumed you hadn't done any, and were trying to help.

imho, giving people grief isn't always a positive move.

I have made several posts about this for quite a few months. This was my latest post from a a few weeks back. I just revived it to see if I could get a bit of help. I was under the impression VM staff visit here, and that it may help me in some way.

I'm just glad I don't rely on my BB for anything other than, gaming, banking and viewing the net. Gaming is just out of the question most times.

Sorry, but I honestly think if you wanted to try & get help from any VM employees who post on here, that choosing the thread title to be less inflammatory might have been a good idea.?

From reading many other posts regarding the problems with Baguley you obviously do share an issue, however, imo, you shouldn't let your frustration be a barrier to anyone who might be able to help?? :)

Indeed it is. But your problems (hopefully) are almost over!
(Read Joglynne's post here and the replies.)

There's apparently been engineering work on your UBR this weekend with, if I understand it right, a resegmenting which ought to improve the congestion.
Try rebooting your modem and if the connection is no better, turn it off and try again tomorrow.

I would just like to say that I have been very impressed with my VM BB, the tech support I have recieved and the speed of which I had my old modem replaced to a 20mb supporting modem.

Connections always speedy and stable.

I turn it off every night, so if anything ever does happen and they don't let me know, I'll soon see it. For example, right now I'm running at full blast, and it's excellent, just like it should be. How long it will last I don't know.

I used to get about 45 min's of top speed every night, but by the time all the kids get home from school, and a few thousand computers are turned on, mine goes down the pan. I have noticed a massive improvement in that respect. For example It last a lot longer before it slows right down to less than 56k.

I can't agree more. Virgin on the whole including mobile phones and TV have been very good. It's just the broadband that's taking month after month with every promise under the sun passing by.

(I only say this as you keep quoting KBS)

I get confused because when I use Mozilla and it's down loader in quotes differently to the on line speed tests, but I know what I should be getting in either case.

When I see the 4096 and I'm getting like 211, or 69, or 101 I know it's going badly.

Also when I down load and I usually get 450 but it's coming down at 16 then 200 then 300 then 5 then 21 then 400. within a few seconds I can see with my own eyes.

I just quote the figures from what even I was using at the time I was pulling my hair out.

After all, it's been Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday this week, all very very poor service. Today is like new and nothing ever went wrong.
