Re: 0800reverse

From a mobile it costs £3.99 connection and then £1.20 a minute.

Those kind hearted people at BT provide this service to save us all having to carry change in our pockets. :D

Re: 0800reverse

Depends on if you are able to make calls to 0800 numbers for free on your mobile.

But I wouldn't recommend it.

If you looked for information yourself, you'd see it is very expensive, & is also not recommended by e.g. Martin Lewis of MoneySavingExpert.com.

Re: 0800reverse

Mind you though reverse charge calls have always been expensive, I remember ringing my house when I was young and getting my sister to accept the charges, at the time I thought this was great... until the bill came in. Avoid this service if you can.:td:

Sheer exploitation...

Aimed at kids so they'll call their parents when they don't want to use their mobile credit.

Parents won't refuse to accept the call in case their kids really are in trouble...

Good point, bloody cynical of BT, if it was a £1 then maybe, but £3.50:nono:

AFAIK, it isn't, but I believe that if you ask the operator to reverse the charges, they will tell you to use this service.

Still, it's all part of our government's plans provide more choice in our phone services. First we had Directory Enquiries, which was originally free, later charged for, but provided phone numbers relatively quickly. You also had Yellow Pages for business numbers

Now, in our "simplified" (I have actually heard the government call it this) phone system, we have at least 10 directory enquiries providers, all on 118 numbers, all providing different services in addition to Directory Enquiries and all costing a hell of a lot more. Oddly, most of the services they provide can be found elsewhere for a lot less or free.

Odd how in someways our new improved phone system costs an awful lot more.

Actually it was a European Directive that resulted in deregulation. The same is happening all over Europe.

No, not part of BT, but an Australian company.

No, BT won't tell you to use this service if you dial 100 and ask to reverse the charge, in fact on some phone boxes they have large adverts for using their own 100 reverse charge service.

The BT 100 Reverse charge service will work to cable lines as well as BT lines or services over BT lines.

0800 Reverse only works on BT lines or some lines over BT. It won't work to cable or VoIP lines.

You can send 0800 reverse an email telling them not to allow the service to be able to call your number.
