Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
had me house front windows put out, all of them by a drunken bunch of *******s
me dad nearly died of fright. its lucky everyone is OK. whats the police do? nothing. me dads 63, has arthritis just about everywhere a heart condition, diabetes and back problems. but we live on the corner house of our street. easy target. whole gang of hoodies in tracksuits seen running off up to the alotments. police arrive with sirens blaring and say they cannet see anyone. oh really???? whaddya do? if i go out with a baseball bat I'm the one going to jail, not them. |
Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over

You don't happen to know any of em do you? If you do, well, i'm not gonna say what i think should happen on this forum.
Let's just say in Doncaster, there was a spate of burglaries, goind up my street, skipping each 2nd house... Next house in the line would have been home to a damn good marksmen. Funnily, this guy, after hearing about the first two burglaries (there were 3 total) started using a circle with "*******s" written in the centre as his target practice. (the "m" ceased to exist after a few rounds...) The burglaries stopped as soon as his house would have been the next "target". Bit of a coincidence if you ask me. Hope your dad is okay, and you have insurance that will cover the windows mate :S |
Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
No we don't know them personally, my dad keeps himself to himself but as we're on the corner of the entrance to the whole estate and directly behind the house is playing fields for a school thats being torn down and further down the road are alotments, we have tended to see a lot of antisocial behaviour from the teens/charvs/**** over the years. however its been pretty quiet as of late.
Until tonight, it was a random totally unprovoked attack at 9.30pm. Me dads ok just very on edge now. |

Anywho, he took it too far one day obviously, or rather the family did. Let's just say they did NOT have windows at all for the next 3 months, as someone kept putting them though as soon as they were replaced. Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
spike if you tackle a gang on your own you will loose, if you tackle a gang with a gang you just start a war ,the police in my experience will do nothing , i prefer to re educate them one by one ,and by the time you've re educated a couple the rest tend to steer well clear, don't get mad get even, my own dear dad went out to tackle a gang of chavs and was beaten up , a few weeks later he died of a heart attack[death by natural causes] but that's not my families opinion we know the beating did for him.

Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
I got home after a few drinks once and had a gang of lads (10ish) and couple of girls sitting on my neighbours (single woman new to area) wall, and one lay on her lawn. I went over told him to get out and them to clear off, I pointed out I would drag him up and down the street in front of all his friends and questioned how impressed would the girls be.
He was mortified and his mates amused which made them comply. He started giving me cheek as I went in my house so I came back out and asked him to repeat what he had said. At one point he said 'there is no need to be aggressive' which was classic considering thats how they tour the streets on a weekend. Thats being said It could have been a mistake if my car was scratched, stolen etc |

I live in a fairly quite neighbourhood but have still had cause to ask the Police to come to sort out a gang of around 10 youths throwing rocks at my elderly neighbour's house and, on a separate occasion, a group of drunken youngsters playing chicken on the blind bend next to my house.
Can anyone tell me why the Police had to come with sirens blaring? What use is letting the hooligans know they are on their way? I was pleased to see that the Police turned up but are they now so demoralised, by the way the court system seems to have no teeth and having their hands tied when dealing with very young offenders, that they no longer want the bother of trying to catching the little blighters. |

If my town is anything to go by there is now one officer per car and people expect him to go up against a whole gang on his own ???. Reality is we have a government that talks tough while delivering nothing and to make it worse they have taken away many of the things parents used to be able to do and have also hamstrung the police as well. Personally i always respected the coppers when i was a kid a clip round the ear solved most things without the need for criminal records and court time but thats way too simple a solution for these times. Something needs to be done with the disruptive element of todays youth that are getting out of control. But it must also be realised that the vast majority of teenagers are not hoodie **** out to cause trouble and many of them make positive contributions to the communities they live in.

there is a new police station about 300 meters from my house ,it was built after public out cry , it sits opposite some sheltered housing [old folk live there] the oldies where being targeted by **** ,windows smashed ,fires started ,robbed , mugged the list is endless, any how this police station was promised and was built right at the seat of the trouble ,it was to be open 24/7 with patroles and beat coppers day and night ,great we thought . WRONG! it opens at 8 am and closes at 5pm, it serves no purpose ,which imo sums up policing these days. a total wast of money, and the **** still there still terrorising people ,untouchable and ruling the streets.

You have a gang wandering around kneecapping people they feel are causing a problem and your different from any other group of thugs how exactly???. What we need is for the police officers we have in this country to be freed from the desks they have to sit behind too much and get them out and about ON FOOT. Sorry but a car driving past is no good we need the police out on foot with a couple of cars to respond very quickly to emergency incidents.

talked to a fellow muso who is also by day a local copper but not in our district has previously worked it.
he says the police are just as frustrated with the power being drained, the over the top PC society, the rise of the charva ******* and the lack of parental control. however they're overworked and understaffed cos the most recent school leavers do not wanna be in the police force cos its hard work, they'd rather be dealers. |
Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
During the day we have a couple of police officers on bikes round here and it's mostly quiet. In fact it's usually moribund in my section of town anyway.
Lately during the evenings however it's got a lot noisier than usual. In fact last week there was a shouting match with a gang of teenagers fuelled by booze/drugs and in the end it took me and my two next door neighbours and the one across the road to get them to go home...Mind I suspect it was the two by four one of my neighbours was carrying that did the trick. My other immediate neighbour had called the police but long before they may have turned up it was over..So I don't know IF they turned up.I must ask her the next time I see her. Been no trouble since. |

Should we really have to give up our free time on top of the £200 in order to get a good police force? I phoned the police because a wanted criminal was outside hacking at a tree with a machette. An hour later they arrived, with siren and lights going (in a traffic free cul-de-sac) so of course he bolted and they were unwilling to go hunt for him. I had a kid throw a rock through my car windscreen, witnessed by neighbours who were willing to give a statement to the police. Two turned up, I directed them to my neighbours who were waiting up for the police, and they just didn't bother knocking on their door, despite having to pass their house on the way back to their car. 27 incidents I had reported involving attacks on my house, and not one was being investigated. |
Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
My Mum was a Special Constable some odd 40 years ago. She was only 4ft 11ins but wouldn't take any lip off anyone. I was mortified when I heard that she had frog marched one of the local 'hard boys' into the public toilets and washed his mouth out with soap after he had been swearing at her.
He sort my Father and I out at her funeral to tell us that her actions that day had helped turn his life around and that he could well have ended up in prison. If she had tried to do that to-day she would have lost her job and been facing charges and that would only be if she survived the confrontation. |

Derek. Both times when I asked for Police assistance I had no complaint about the time it took for the Police to attend. It was the use of the sirens that I queried. On the second call out I was told that it was Police policy, which I admit did shut me up.

If its done correctly then it'll work out better in the long run.
Unfortunately most of these jobs are being done by Police officers for a reason and I would suggest all that'll happen is the desk bound PC's will get some civvy assistants and the actual number of front line officers stays static. |
Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
Basically the government made moves to force an increase in the size of the police force without actually looking into how best to do it, so consiquently there are loads of coppers doing paperwork etc that should be done by admin staff simply so the government can claim the number of PCs is at an all time high.
What's happening now is the media has woken up to a lack of correlation between numbers of PCs and crime reduction, and moved onto the waste of money simply getting PCs to do every police job causes. |
Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
This issue is the same as most with this overnment it looks good at first then as time goes on you see the nasty truth. I am all for getting civvy's in to do what does not require an officer and getting max numbers of pc's out and about.

This one officer per car is a farce, I got in a car with one officer to go after 2 guys who had given another guy a serious beating late at night in my front garden. I honestly beleive that had I not gone out with my baseball bat the guy could of been killed, or at least spent more than the one night in hospital he got away with. I got in the car with the officer and we saw the 2 guys, I pointed them out and the officer stopped the car. The officer would not get out of the car and said to me 'There are 2 of them' I said 'There are 2 of us' but instead he called for backup allowing them to run away. My parents had a spate of trouble with some drug dealers, the police were a waste of time. My parents had the bay window smashed in, the car vandalised on more than one occasion. There was CCTV evidence and eye witnesses but the police did nothing, in the end I had to point out to my mother that it would of been better to sort the probem out myself. (which she stopped me from doing) One evening I got called again because there had been trouble, I was so annoyed at being disturbed yet aain that I went and dealt with the 2 drugged up pieces of ****. The problem was solved, no more trouble and they shortly moved. I believe the problem of getting them to court, difficulty in getting a conviction and then the court not dishing out suitable punishment is the reason for apathy amongst many officers in my area. |
Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
I have always supported the police and believe they are damned if they do and damned if they don't but even i hear more and more about lacklustre policing. I can understand that putting in a lot of work and getting nowhere is demoralising but tbh thats life and surely anyone that joins a police force knows what they are getting into if not initially then at some point in the training.
Get two officers back in cars in fact always have pairs of officers and get more of them out of the cars and back on the beat. A police car driving past any given area is effective for maybe 20-30 secs an officer on the beat is effective a lot longer. As for the argument that cars can cover greater distance and more often is rubbish and police officers become non personal and the people they serve relate to the car not the officer. Get the police back out into community's get them building relationships with people and watch crime go down. Right now i only see a police officer when i report something and them coming to my door makes it clear i have reported which in turn does not encourage me to do it and make myself and my family a target. If police officers routinely visited homes for chats and to introduce themselves and build relationships they would get greater local intelligence and also would mean less chance of people being targeted for giving information. |

The kids 'round here scare the life out of everyone. The police don't come anymore - no exaggeration. They just don't arrive. Last time I rang to speak to someone they gave me the usual log number and said let them know if things don't calm down. I rang back 20 mins later to say things were actually getting worse and gave them the log number. It didn't exist. When I asked why it didn't exist and why nobody had been to move on the fighting kids, they said "oh, it'll have been merged with another local incident and written off as 'attended to'. It happens all the time, we couldn't cope otherwise!". I don't blame them - they're stretched to the max. I'm not sure I blame anyone really, but I do know people think I'm exaggerating when I say it's a horrible, horrible place to live here now. My Wife doesn't leave the house once it gets dark. Once I'd go out to challenge kids. Now I just hope they'll pass by quickly and not kick my wing mirrors off. P.S. Never heard the term 'charva'. Sounds like some kind of coffee to me? |

What about the parents of these little thugs, I have read this entire thread and like in the newspapers as well it doesn't seem uncommon for kids of 10 to be out in large groups causing a nuisance. I say the police should take the little brats home and charge the parent with neglect, hit them in the pocket, because no child of ten should be out roaming the streets at night.

Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
If a child these days decides they want to do something no matter what a pareant says exactly what powers are there that parents are ALLOWED to use anymore. It's all well and good shouting for parents to be hauled over for unruly kids and while there may be circumstances where a very small minority of parents have totally abandoned their responsibility it is by no means a general state of affairs.
What is a general state of affairs is parents feeling powerless to actually enforce rules in this day and age when kids are so suseptible to outside influence and that outside influence has changed a hell of a lot since i was a kid. Problems with anti social kids have more then one cause and therefore need more then one solution. |

Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
"Lock the doors and prevent them leaving." = Unlawful imprisonment.
"If they get out, go hunt for them and bring them home." Means physically dragging them back ie. assault. Those above two terms were told to my now problem son by a teacher at his school who also provided him with a childline card and encouragement to use it. Yes discipline from an early helps doesn't solve the problem shouting at them doesn't work, restricting privileges also not very effective from past experience as for spanking when they get to be teenagers Xaccer's see above as it is assault. But thank you for pointing those options out but sadly they have been tried and have failed. You obviously havn't had some of the less then helpful intervention by some adults fighting the good fight for childrens right's. While we got an apology from the school and an assurance such a thing would not happen again it was too late and i wonder how many other people have had similar. I can only relate through my personal experience and although that may not be indicative of all problems with kids i doubt i am anything special and thet factors frustrating me are frustrating other parents in the UK who try to do the best they can and bring their children up in a positive and community minded way. |

That was a serving police officer in my house less then a month ago i am still awaiting the outcome. Once upon a time things like this wouold never have gotten this far as a kid i would have never dreamed of calling the police on my parents but times have changed and sadly so have attitudes.
|
Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
I can't speak from experience because our son never went off the rails but I don't believe that children are born bad.
IMO Children learn by example. Parents have got to accept that it is no good letting their very young children get away with bad behaviour. A very young child who is brought up with no appreciation of what it means to have respect for other people will soon develop into the 5, 6, 10 year old who will not respect anyone whether it be their parents, teachers, or the Police. The small child who is given every toy in the shop will soon begin to believe that it's his right to get everything that he wants when he wants it. Unless monetary values are taught, they will never be understood. If a child has never experienced the anticipation and satisfaction of owning an item, for which he has had to save at least a portion of its cost, then that child will never have any idea of the true worth of money. A parent of an out of control child must at some point have seeded control to that child. I don't know the solution to the problem of the out of control children who are plaguing our society to-day but I do believe that parents have got to get their acts together. |
Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
Peer pressure amongst many teens is significantly greater now then i can remember it being when i was a kid another factor is that some kids that have awful upbringings brag to other kids how good it was in certain aspects and encourage others to do it. I accept there are some completely bad lousy parents i have one living 3 doors up but it is not the case in all cases and simply putting it down to lousy parents in a general sense is going to miss some of the other problems and having been missed no one will bother looking or thinking how to tackle those.
Being honest ten years ago i would probably have been one of the people shouting for parents to be hammered but as your kids grow so does your understanding and perspective and i have come to realise through the troubles we now have with our son (but not our straight A daughter) that sometimes it is not as black and white as we would all sometimes like to think. |

Hence why you get situations such as where a shipment of realistic imitation firearms are held in Holland, and the retailer they are due for gets a phone call from some jumped up desk PC in the Met claiming that they're on their way to arrest the retailer for breaking the law. And why when someone defends themselves when attacked by their partner, they end up with a police caution that makes out they were the attacker. Given a month has passed, I would imagine he's been informed of the legallities and quietly dropped the matter as it serves no purpose, ie a magistrate or jury would not likely convict someone for grounding their child or dragging them home after dark unless there is actual child abuse taking place. |
Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
RizzyKing. I agree that peer pressure is a force to be reckoned with and that teens are particularly at risk. Good children have been affected by bad peer pressure and I believe these children with luck, and help, and can realise that it's not a road in life that they wish to stay on.
A friend of my son became evolved with a pretty bad set of lads when he was 14. He ended up in social care at 15, and it took a six moth sentence at 18 before he realised what his life would be like if he didn't sort himself out. Your son has had the benefit of a good set of parents, what is happening to him now is not so much a reflection on you as parents but on society to-day. The values he has grown up with, and to an extent disregarded, are still there and with time may reassert themselves. |

RizzyKing. When I was young....gosh did I really type that. :) My Primary School was mainly OK when it came to the behaviour of the pupils. Parents in my neck of the woods were pretty strict, it was a working class council estate, and there was not to much money about to materialistically spoil a child. At senior school there was peer pressure and as to-day it had it's bad side.
What we have now is the addition of a lower age group of children out of control and that's the scary part of what is happening. TheNorm. Yes I agree, to call the parents, of most of these out of control children, bad is too easy. It's not the parents that are bad so much as their parenting skills that are bad. We all want our children to have good memories of their childhood, we want them to have the best possible childhoods we can give them: but, I fear for the legacy we are handing them. |
Re: Chav/Charva Scumbags are taking over
I have done a bit of soul searching recently on this and one thing that did strike me was i have always said i wanted my kids to have it better and easier then i had it as a kid and i believe many parents feel that way. What i certainly and i would guess many other parents forget with that sentiment is that by and large we have grown up to become good decent people who have forgotten that we are who we are because of our upbringing. Maybe the problem is in trying to make things better for our kids we have taken away the things that were the main parts in determining who we grew up to be. In short with the best of parental intentions we have created a bad parental situation with the kids we are now brining up. Not the whole problem but perhaps another little piece of it.

It seems these days that the waters are muddy, and it is not easy to categorise. It is obvious from the way that some teenage troublemakers act that they were never disciplined. They appear to think they can do exactly what they want and if someone educates them they will then go crying to the police. I have had a few incidents recently where teenagers have been just looking for trouble, when I was younger I would of risen to the challenge. I had one incident about 2 weeks ago and I could of probably sorted them out efficiently on the spot, but of course the law is on their side no matter what they do. I would never of dreamt of cheeking or trying to pick a fight with an adult when I was young, and then go crying to the police if I got what I deserved. |

For example, when younger my children would often ask for sweets. I remember that desire from childhood, as my parents never let us have sweets (apart from birthdays and holidays). My instinct was to give in (especially as it buys a few minutes of peace), but my head told me (and my wife) to work through this and offer "proper" food instead. We are facing harder dilemmas now that the children are older. My son gets invited to parties where alcohol is available (unofficially, of course). He knows we don't approve of drinking at this age, but I can't help thinking that a stinking hangover will do more than parental frowns. Raising children is the hardest job in the world. I have the greatest respect for parents, even those of "chav/charva *******s". |

Hi Rockabilliespike, l really feel sorry for you, if this is happened every couple of day, make a note of the time, and date, and if nessersary fit a camera (you can getone for £50.00 at Argos and fit it yourself), and capture it on camera, and if the council don't help you, get the video tape and got up to the council and slapped in on the table, and say now sort it, what ever you don't confront them, as you might get hurt, and if you have a go, and injure them, you will get done, for it, and you can make a citizen's arrest, but make sure you have it on camera, for proof, hope it helps.
