You could ask her what she uses when she is on the internet, for example, maybe she is downloading files? Or sharing webcams with people?

Which connection speed do you have?

Does she have a virus or worm that might be using the bandwidth unknown to her?

How far away from the router are you roughly? Maybe you're getting a lower signal when she is online too?

Re: slow );

Have you tried turning it off, and then waiting about 15 seconds before turning it back on? This will help clear it's temporary memory, as it might be a little clogged.

Just unplug it from the wall. Then back in, and wait a minute for it to reconnect fully.

The wireless router, switch it off at the plug for around 15 - 20 seconds.

Sorry for not being so clear.

Ah, strange.

Hmmm, what happens if your sister connects first? Do you get the same slow speeds, or does she then get them instead?

Something is definitely wrong then.

Are you sure you are nto connecting to her PC when it is on, instead of the router?

Just connect to the router with a cable, not the wireless adapter.

Uhhh?? How do you mean - you can't get access to the router becuase it's offline??

Or do you mean the PC is upstairs and router is downstairs?

If so - take the PC downstairs to the router to test it then! :rolleyes:

Well if you are unwilling to test possible solutions when I don't see the point in continuing this thread. Good luck!

Re: slow );

A couple of possible things although they are a bit of a stretch!

Which USB port do you have the adaptor plugged into? Is it a USB1.1 port or USB2? The easiest way to tell is to remove the adaptor and put a memory stick in - if a message comes up beside the clock in the bottom right-hand corner telling you "this device can perform faster" then it's USB1.1 - if your PC has any USB2 sockets (where you won't get that message with a memory stick) is the performance any better with the adaptor in there.

Also, are you using a rear USB socket? Does the PC have a USB socket on the front and if so, is performance any better in there?
