Re: Earthquake
Yep, and here in Notts.
Thought this new Call of Duty 4 had realistic effects! :D lol |
Re: Earthquake
Same in NG17, very unsettling
I was sitting at my computer upstairs and it felt like someone had yanked my chair back, then I felt the house tremble and I thought I heard the wind pick up really loud as though a Tornado had just passed (not the aeroplane type) then it was over in about 15 seconds, went outside but it was calm so it didn't look like a Tornado. I think we've had these quakes before where I live but it's the first time I've actually experienced one, makes you wonder what people who've gone through a proper quake must feel like if a small one like this causes alarm!!! |
Re: Earthquake
Oh my goodness !
Just been woken up by this now out of nowhere. I'm up in the loft and everything shook like it was about to fall. Loud rumbling sound for what seemed like ages. It's certainly gone and hit the East Midlands. |

Looks like Reepham took the hit! The residents of Cleethorpes should improve their aim, they missed Mingingham by a long shot! On a serious note, I do hope everyone is ok though. |

Re: Earthquake
Quote:
"People from across large parts of England have reported an earth tremor. The BBC has received calls from people in Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Manchester, Berkshire and the West Midlands about a "quake". The tremor could be felt in central Birmingham at about 0100 GMT but it is unclear if it has caused any damage. The West Midlands was hit by an earthquake in 2002 in the Dudley area that reached 5.0 on the Richter scale and caused damage to homes." Oh, for God's sake, is that all they can do? It took me 3 minutes to find detailed info, and I'm in bed at the moment... and they call themselves "news" agency.... pathetic |

Re: Earthquake
Any car alarms go off?
|
Re: Earthquake
A few alarms seem to have gone off.
It's more the feeling inside the house that got me worried. Felt and sounded like everything was going to crash to the ground. Right, I better get some sleep. See you all later in the day :) |
Re: Earthquake
I guess the show's over..........
untl tomorrow........ dun da dun dun......? 'night all, glad to hear no-one suffered any harm. :) |
Re: Earthquake
Coventry - WOW, not want to experience that again. Chair shook and moved, then the phone started to ring. I thought the foundations had given in.
OMG - Imagine a 7 or 8 on the richter scale, make you think. |
Re: Earthquake
I imagine the only shock bigger than this quake Was if Coventry Had Beat Burnley
Oh Well 1 Shock will have to do Until the Next One |
Re: Earthquake
Felt it here in Cambridge, around 1am.
Very odd :erm: I was sitting there playing COD4, & thought either that's a bloody realistic airstrike someone's launched at me, or there's a damn earthquake. Heard this crazy shaking & then saw my damn TV start wobbling like mad, while the room shook. No damage to anything AFAIK. |
Re: Earthquake
We felt the tremors way up here in the Middlesbrough area (Stockton-on-Tees) at the same time (just before 1am).
It shook beds and a few things creaked and groaned slightly but no damage known as yet. This happened twice, approx 3 seconds each and approx 5 few seconds apart. Not violent but enough to wake up a light to moderate sleeper. I was already awake in bed but it woke up others in the house (except the 5 year old who sleeps so deeply that the littke tike has now proved that she can in fact, as the saying goes, sleep though an earthquake! :) ) I've never felt one before and it was hard to describe but it sort of felt like a truck had crashed into a house very nearby, with all the vibrations but without any associated noise. |
Re: Earthquake
Felt it here in Hartlepool too, bed started shaking and wardrobes.
Was chattin on the laptop at the time and loads of people said they felt it, so I knew straight away what had happened and I wasnt going crazy haha Had a peek out of the window and it stirred a few houses and had some lights come on but that was about it. First time my beds moved like that in years! |
Re: Earthquake
OMG same here i thought it was my head!

Re: Earthquake
It's my second one :( Lot worse this time though - last time it was a gentle rumble, increasing in strength, then dying away. This time, really strong wobbling of the floor, pretty much instantly. Really strong shock waves - the vases in the hearth wobbled. No damage though - not that I can find.
|
Re: Earthquake
will we have a aftershock?
|
Re: Earthquake
Doubt it. Pretty unusual - we're not near any active plates. Makes you wonder what's going on :erm:
