BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
Is there anyone on this forum who is a BNP wife (or even hubby). Did they know that their other half's political leaning were BNP at the time, or was it a suprise? And how did they get on.
Just watching a documentary on Sky One about women married to BNP members so I thought I'd ask here. There's a woman on it who requested a white european midwife for her labour. Turns out she was given a black carribean one and requested a white one again, to deliver her baby. When asked why by the interviewer she said "I have nothing against her, but im white and i wanted a white woman delivering my baby" (or words very similar). I'd have thought that the last thing a mother would be worrying about when delivering her baby would be the colour of the midwife. does anyone else share her sentiments? |
Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
Well hopefully not anyone here! I don't know why your surprised though, some people are racists. They will deny it, even to themselves finding some sort of jusitification for it (in case, the fact she had "Nothing against her" but they are and it happens.

Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
Actually the impression I get from a few of our members would lead me to think them or their missus would say such things.
But I'd be surprised if anyone admits to it in public. |

If only racism was that simple but it isn't personally i am more racist now then i was 10 years ago due to personal experience and i think most people have grey areas.

What do you mean you're more racist than 10 years ago? Normally people get less stupid as they get older. |
Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
While not strictly on topic, i find myself discriminating much more often now then when i used to when i was only a few years younger, what's worse is i'm now the immigrant and the roles are reversed.. It's weird to say the least.
Not something i'm proud of, for example, i was discriminating against people of faith earlier in the week, until i realised how stupid i was being, bloody eye-opener when you look at things from a different perspective i'll tell ya... |

There are hard line nasty racist thugs that will beat up, even kill black or asian people (however young black kids seem to be adept at killing each other at the moment). Then you get people, myself included, who don't consider themselves racist but would then laugh at a perceived racist joke. Then you have to ask yourself is that in the same arena, For example take this joke: A black man walks into a pub with big red, yellow and green parrot on his shoulder. "Bloody hell" says the barman "he's a beauty, where did you get him from." The parrot replies "Africa, there's millions of the b****rds there. Now, I heard Bernard Manning tell that joke on a television show were he roundly accused of telling racist and abusive jokes. And just last month whilst I was India, our tour guide (who was Black not Indian) told it to us, he thought it was hilarious. So it falls into the arena that if a black person tells a racist joke, it's not racist because he is parodying himself?? but if a white person tells the same joke then he is being racist as he has no right to parody a black person, not being black himself. As has been discussed here racism is usually perceived on the basis that if the receiver of the act believes they have been the victim of an act of racism, then they have. Which is again very subjective but probably the best way to gauge it at the moment, but it relies on the such persons not playing the race card at every conceivable opportunity. There needs to be an amount of tolerance on all sides. |

To me there are 2 kinds of racism, the direct kind where people are verbally and physically abused & the indirect kind which comes in the form of jokes and banter. Which is worse, depends on the type of person who is on the receiving end. All this reminds me of a joke There was and Englishman, an Englishman and an Englishman ............ |
Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
There is a difference between telling a joke about yourself and telling a joke about someone else. You are always allowed to be more deprecating about yourself than someone else, from someone else it will seem quite hostile. This is pretty obvious so I am not sure how people always bring this up to highlight a hypocrisy, it's a understandable one that apples to all people irrespective of race and faith.
I.E I am relatively Short, I can make jokes about it, my friends can make some jokes about it and it's fine. I know it's a joke. If some random person started making jokes about it I would perceive it as a insult. So as with anything these types of joke depend on a situation and trying to make it a simple case of "he's allowed to say it, why can't I?" is flawed. |

There's only two things I look at the Sun for it must be said ;)

Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
Calling people stupid is hardly a way to carry on a rational debate is it. Thats the biggest problem with the race issue in the UK it cant be debated in a rational manner as the various groups are too busy attacking each other to attack the problem.

Hmm, maybe that should be on the citizenship test? :D Re the stupidity thing, well it is stupid to discriminate against someone you've never met based on their nationality (except the french). If someone started ranting about bald people getting a fairer deal because they don't have to spend money on shampoo or haircuts, looking younger for longer because no grey hair shows (someone check Russ' ear and nose hair), how they should be forced to wear wigs to integrate with the rest of us who have hair etc because "you never see a bald person going to a barber's do you? What's with that? It's just not normal!" You'd think they were a bit stupid wouldn't you? |
Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
I don't think you can compare racism to baldness tbh and as far as racism goes it is reduced or increased for the vast majority based on their experiences with other races. I think i should clarify my position on this as my previous statements have been more sweeping then i intended i am more racist towards one group then i was 10 years ago not all groups. As for the media i don't read any of the press as i think they are all a load of toilet paper.

If you're ripped off by one bald person, it doesn't mean all bald people will rip you off, likewise if you live next to a bad asian family, it doesn't mean all asians are like that, so to prejudice against a group because of the actions of some members of that group is stupid. Look at the inability of the anti-Muslim lot to read even the thread title let alone the articles linked to, and so believed that a woman called the Bible unclean. Or the megamosque e-petition where it clearly states that there is going to be no such mosque. Intelligence and prejudice generally don't go together. Oh and lets not forget the evil Muslim plan of raping women to turn the UK into a Muslim state by producing more muslims. When the person who regurgitated that BNP propaganda was actually asked how it would acheive the supposed goal, they hadn't actually thought that far into it. It was something to try and bash Muslims with, and so that was enough for them. |
Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
I am not disputing there are some morons out there and i despise the BNP as much as you but it simply is not that simple a thing. Well to me it isn't to you it is highlighting really the problem and why it has no simple black and white answer.

You would properly find something else (age, dress sense) that differs from you and apply that logic. When you have a bad experence of someone you find out that is the most obvious difference between you and them and use that to apply some sort of logic and rational to the event. Which is what happens if someone of a different race is negative towards you. You just need to remember that it was not the difference that caused the event, rather it was something else (i.e they were a jerk, stupid, ill-educated etc etc ) |

If I went around and said that all black young men are knife weilding drug dealers (based on my personal experiences in south London) then I would rightly be branded some sort of racist and my views wouldn't be acceptable. However I do find more and more people judging the whole Muslim community based on the actions of a relative minority within the community itself. People think they can get away with it because they are not being racist (as a religion is not a race so you can't be being racist - views echoed in this forum aswell). I personal think its the same thing, because most people I know that voice anti Muslim views are directing it towards the asian/brown skinned people whom they believe to be Muslim. |
Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)

"If they don't like it they shouldnt come here" from people who think all muslims are immigrants or the classic: "But if we went to their country, we wouldnt be given any rights" which presumes all muslims are immigrants, presumes all immigrants come from a country run by an oppresive muslim government, but also that all muslims are responsible and accountible for what these governments do. People are simply stupid sometimes and given the culture at the moment people will not protect the rights of muslims/asians as much as they would black people. I know there are people on this forum who air the view constantly that muslims are all violent and wish to convert the entire globe to islam via jihad. The best thing Muslims could do to fight this is make it clear that the majority deplore terrorism. The media do not cover it as much as they cover any western protests (they cover muslims protests a lot no matter how small the number) but eventually more and more people will get the message. Islamic terrorism was given a massive boost after 9/11 especially with Bush given them excellent recuriting power by making them seem a bigger and more dangerous entity than they were at that time. It is however a bigger danger to your religion than our countries and is a war within Islam, and other Muslims are the best way to fight it. It's a shame that the press and some parts of the population do not seem to spot this and are content to increase the sepration with the west that would cause impressionible and angry young muslims to join terrorist groups |
Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
these muslim chaps do seem to cause a lot of trouble.

Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
Noone is innocent here SLM, Not even Muslims with a victim-complex.
Because of the bans across many Muslim countries, our home office issues dual passports to people wishing to travel to Israel and many Muslim countries. While many BNP fathers won't allow their daughters to marry Muslims, considerable numbers of Muslim fathers won't allow their daughters to marry westernised Muslims, let alone non-Muslims. Yes, Muslims are discriminated against, but they also are discriminators themselves. Just like everyone else. Discrimination is a human trait, not a racial or cultural one. |
Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)

I think part of the problem is that people meet people from other races, and assume they are all like that. Clearly, they aren't. You could meet me, and, depending on the mood I am in, I can be fairly outgoing and am usually friendly, sometimes loud. If you didn't know any English people, you could assume we are all friendly, outgoing and loud. We aren't (I'm not, always). If you met Nugget or Mr Love Monkey, you could end up assuming all the English are perverts :D . People see the actions of a few extremists, and assume that all muslims are violent bigots. Which isn't true. Most muslims, while they do have problems with muslims marrying non-muslims (let's not forget, Islam is not the only religion that has problems with it's followers marrying outside the religion), are perfectly happy to get on with things peacefully, and get one with people. |
Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)

Also I do not think you have to have a victim complex to see that the majority of muslims are tarnished with the same brush everytime there is a "muslim" issue. The press and members of the public introduce arguments including immigration; adapting to "british" culture, as well as statements such as, "why should we tolerate it in our country". Take this forum for one. If there weren't a handful of posters on here who see beyond the attitude that "all muslims are trouble making fanatics and should either adapt to our culture or leave", then every single muslim related thread on here would end up with the sentiments that we should all get out of this country or give up practising our religion here. On the point of marrying non muslims, this is not an issue that is exclusive to Islam. Its discouraged/frowned on by followers of other religions too. |
Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
Change the record, son.
You seem to be very concerned about discrimination against Muslims, but seem rather blaise about anything going in the other direction: "I am not saying muslims do not discriminate" So, I think you're missing the point i'm making as well. |

Like it or not, the vast majority of people perceive Islam to be an Intollerant, violent, oppressive religion. The Governments of Iran and Saudi Arabia only help fuel this perception with the amount of executions and chopping off of hands and feet. British Muslims and indeed muslims world wide also do nothing to dispel this perception. Even during a recent episode of Wife Swap which involved what you would call a typical British Muslim family showed the Muslim Wife to be intolerant of the other families way of life. Like it or not, be it the truth or not - that is the perception and unless something is done to change that perception then that is the way it will be. And don't think this is just reserved for Muslims, I'm pretty sure if took a straw poll on peoples views on Scientology, Mormons and Jehova's Witnesses it'd come back with people thinking they're all weirdo's. |

Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
Well in my defence my views on the group i favour less now came from not one or two minor incidents but from many incidents involving dozens from the same group. Maybe i am stupid maybe i am a full fledged racist in the eyes of some but how many people from a single group need to do things before anyone starts to view them as a whole. Part of me agrees with what some of you are saying but i am not able to just forget what i have seen and heard with my own eyes and ears so if that makes me a bigot so be it.

Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
On the muslim issue: I believe a big part of the issue is one of perception - the fact that the 'pockets' of muslim communities that exist throughout the UK seem to exclude non-muslims tends to breed fear in their neighbours. And who's fault is that? The muslims, for following their faith and traditions, or their neighbours for wanting to live in an integrated society?
I don't have any Muslim friends. I only have one black friend (and he *is* black - when it's dark he has to smile or we'll lose him ;)). His nickname is 'Token' and he revels in it. The problem is when people start to take things too seriously. I'm quite loud, and I'm constantly mocked with 'Foghorn' etc comments. People need to lighten up and ditch their preconceptions. And not be so eager to shout 'racist'. Or 'sexist' or 'fattist' or any other kind of ist. |
Re: BNP Wives.... (or even hubbies)
i think part of it is racism is usually seen as white against other races and that no other aspect should be considered so as long as your prepared to be white and take the blame for the problem the problem is solved. Racism is not exclusive to any one group it is unforunately universal and for it to be beaten we all need to make change and we all need to accept the common ground we have rather then the differences amongst us. I don't see it happening anytime soon.

They have been a disaster when ever they have been elected to a council seat, often being kicked out for incompetence at best (one voted against his own bill after misunderstanding how to vote because he didn't understand a couple of words) and racist/violent crimes (one smashed a bottle over a asians head, another put **** though the letterbox of a Asian family). Of course, some of their councilors resigned after becoming aware of the racism in the BNP. So credit to them. Others resigned recently after their homes were broken into, as they were suspected of challenging Nick Griffins position as head of party. Then you have the gems of the party such as their leader who:
So I honestly want to know why? I honestly do not think your racist because you vote for them, I can see why people who are angry at the political process and the three main parties are angry, but what on earth makes you ignore all the evil the BNP does? |

I vote for the BNP in the East Ward of Grimsby as a little voice just nagging at the backs of the 'sit back and do nowt' politicians we have in this ward, no I am not looking at the wider picture so sorry if I offend anyone, I am just a dude tring to look after my little bit of ground.. |
