There are a few different places and in the true tradition of hidden treasure X marks the spot. here X here X and here X. :D Im sure youl enjoy the new box and have fun trying the various features and seeing how they change your viewing habits. |
Re: v+ install
I've had mine for about 6 weeks now and it's excellent. It has changed the way we use the TV and is simple to use. Picture quality through HDMI is really good, even for non-HD content.

Re: v+ install
:DTHE BIG DAY At about 5pm yesterday the virgin media engineer turned up with my shinny new v+ box, the installation was straight forward. The guy ran through the basic functions of the box with me which took no longer than 10 minutes,he also left a booklet with some of the more advanced functions of the box. During the install he fitted the hdmi cable and checked the hd was ok on the bbc test channel. My only gripe with the install was the fact that before i had the old samsung v box which when it was intalled a few months ago the engineer wired it up to my home theatre system, when i asked the guy yesterday he said the only way this could be done with the v+ box was to wire it up on the scart lead, which he did but this turned off the hdmi output therfore loosing the ability to watch the high def stuff availible also loosing the upscalling ability of the hdmi output on sdtv.
So my question is, can this be done or was he right? my tv is a LG 37LC2DB and my home theatre system is also made by LG it is a LH-T550TB (it doesnt have an optical input so cant be wired directly from the v+ optical out) Any advise would be helpfull as i am missing my sourrond sound already:( Sorry one more question when i try to watch some of the hd material availible via the more on demand then free hdtv sometimes my box will act as though it starts to play but when the counter apears in the bottom left of the screen it freezes on 00:00 for a few seconds the the screen goes blank, the only way to remedy this is by pressing the reset button. Has anybody else got this problem if so what is the fix? |

Just happens i was looking at this earlier. You can buy the cable at same place. Cant help with the second problem apart from saying if it persists call 151 or use the virginmedia.tv.support newsgroups who will solve problems. or at least try! Ive had that problem in the past but it was cured on its own. You might also simpky retry playing your selection as ive found that works sometimes. |

if i was to use the gadget you recomended and i use an optical cable from my v+ box to the converter then from the converter use an coaxial cable to my Lg home theatre system(LH-T550TB) how would i connect the coaxial cable to it as there isnt a dedicated coaxial connector on it there are only the left and right audio and video in sockets? |

What im going to do it get my system, see what connection issues i have or dont understand then call that company and see what i need. I know i can connect both the cinema system and the V+ via seperate hdmi leads. Ive been told that all i need do then is connect the tv to the cinema system using audio leads. However as the v+ box has an optical audio connection i want to find out if this should be used to connect audio. I suggest you call the company and see what they advise for your particular set up as thier prices seem good. Nothing to lose. |
Re: v+ install
Ok thanks i will proberbly give them a bell:)

Re: v+ install
Have you tried using the phono audio outputs on the V+?
I've not heard of the second problem before. Suggest you call Faults or report it on the support newsgroup. |

Hi all cant seem to program my v+ remote to adjust the tv volume, i followed the instructions in the help menu, i couldnt find my type of tv. I rang 150 from my virgin phone and they gave me 11 codes for philips tvs they said they are the same as my LG tv (LG37LC2DB) these codes didnt work. They said if these didnt work it wasnt possible i would have to use my tv remote to alter the volume. Can anyone help me? or is this true?

Re: v+ install
It apparently was a design decision not to make the box volume control change the HDMI output, it is not a technical limitation of the V+ box
The SkyHD box allows the base volume over HDMI to be altered, same as the normal boxes allow it over RF/Scart |
Re: v+ install
;) Thanks my friend just tried your code and it worked a treat. I only wish i had just asked on this forum earlier, the adviser for virgin media gave me 11 codes for philips tvs and 11 codes for lucky Goldstar tvs 0008 wasnt on either of the lists suprise suprise. :)

Re: v+ install
When you had your V+ box fitted was it connected juts by a HDMI lead or a scart lead or both. My engineer did own up to never connecting a HD TV to a V+ box before and on leaving stated that both leads had to remain connected. My brand new 1080 Toshiba now informs me via the V box that I cannot watch Lost repeats in HD as my TV is not HD ready.

Re: v+ install
I installed a new DVD recorder yesterday as I had to remove the old one to fit the V+. When connecting it up I noticed both HDMI and scart leads connected. In this state I was able to show the HD channels but in any case I removed the scart lead yesterday and have no problems whatsoever. Watched HD Wild hogs yesterday.
The HD channels have to be initialised by VM. |

What happens when you try to set the V+ to HDMI mode? What model TV do you have? |
Re: v+ install
I go through the set up as per the book and on screen video and then press ok to test.
The settings go back to the original ones ie composite, RGB etc and when we try to watch a HD programme it informs us that our TV is not HD ready. The TV is a Toshiba 37X3030. |

The only reason I know this is I've been looking into upgrading my DVD cinema system to allow me to connect V+ and DVD....the only way to do it is to buy an AV Receiver with coaxial/optical inputs...then you have to get an active sub..the list goes on and can cost thousands ... |
Re: v+ install
