Why stop at your arms - I'd say remove all body hair.

..and then coat yourself in vaseline.

..but enough about my passtimes

It's a great game, you get one guy to do that, and then everyone else has to catch him - it's like there's 15 of you in the bath together all trying to get the soap.

anyway, why would you want to shave your arms????

Chris W 13-11-2007 08:07

Re: Thinking about shaving arms?

If you shave your arms be prepared to sit there are pick out the ingrowing hairs afterwards- arms are (for some reason) very prone to ingrowing hairs.

Also, remember that when the hair grows back you'll have stubbly arms.

If you really want to get rid of your arm hair then epilating or waxing is probably the way forward.

Personally, I can't understand why you would want to do it though.... looks really strange if you ask me- particularly on a bloke.

I had to do that once. I had some sort of cyst in my armpit, & I needed to apply antibiotic cream to it [this was before I'd heard of Tea Tree oil]. trying to put cream on somewhere hairy is just not practical, so I had to shave it. It really itched when it grew back!

I shave my pits in summer, if you moisturise then it doesn't itch. Grow em for winter though... need the warmth ;)

As do many cyclists.

Halcyon 13-11-2007 16:35

Re: Thinking about shaving arms?

I wouldn't shave my arms as the hair is often quite fine and not that noticeable so I wouldn't bother.
If you are considering it though, don't use a razor. Veet cream is probably the easiest way. You apply the cream, leave it 4 minutes, and then wash it off and the hair just comes off.
Do remember to do a test patch first to make sure you don't get a reaction to it.

I think guys should have hair as it makes them masculine and different from girls.
It's just if you don't want it in a certain place or have too much that I think it is a good idea to control it.

Everyones different though and remember that what one person likes another person doesnt. Do whatever makes you happy, you don't have to follow the crowds.

What a strange thread, of all the parts that I shave, my pits aren't one ( or 2 ) the only thing with shaving / waxing etc etc is that the hair will grow back, normally, over time, a lot thicker, and that can be a right pain in the **** .................... believe me :D

has anyone used Veet For Men Gel Cream

Halcyon 15-04-2009 00:33

Re: Thinking about shaving arms?

Yes. And it worked.

Do not put it anywhere near your face or your arms. These areas are more sensitive. If you are going to do your under arms use a razor otherwise I think it will probably sting.

The Veet cream / gel you apply for 4 minutes. Make sure you don't have any cuts or open wounds.
After 4 minutes wash it off.

The gel/cream comes with an applicator. :D Waxing is about 6 weeks between treatments but that is because the hair needs to be long enough to remove with wax between tortures. The depilatory stuff can be used as and when required.

Hair on men is mascaline, unless its in horrible areas, then I would say get the wax out, and prepare to scream! :)

If you do wax, exfoliating the area daily between waxes should help to minimise ingrowing hairs.

It is fine to use on your hands. Just make sure you read the label and follow the instructions.
It is worth doing a small area first just to make sure you don't have any reactions to it.

It is the quickest way of getting rid of hair that's for sure.

Re: Thinking about shaving arms?

The red marks will go away. Just make sure you washed off all the cream off and maybe apply a soothing aloe vera balm. eg. the type you'd use for shaving your face to smooth the area down.
The first time you've done it will always be red but as you do it more your skin will get used to it.

Yes...seeing that men's bodily hair tends to be thicker and stronger than women's then I think that's a bit disproportionate.
