Printer cannot communicate with computer
Yes you have guessed, it is a L*****k all-in-one printer model No.X1270.
My OS is Vista Home Premium. I have downloaded the necessary driver, and uninstalled and reinstalled (with and without CD) till I am blue in the face. I fear for the health of my computer. Strange thing is, it will scan and send emails etc, but just wont print. Can someone talk me through how to get it working properly? When I phoned L*****k they wanted £15 for technical support as the printer is out of warranty. |
Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
Did you install the drivers before or after you connected the device to the PC? Also is it a USB2 device and are you plugged into a USB2 port?

Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
try a different usb port? go into control panel and with the printer switched on go into device manager and see if there are any uninstalled devices showing there. If not goto add new hardware if this does not find it go into printers and see if it is installed just not set as default

Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
Why is the printer name showing as L*****k ?
---------- Post added at 11:45 ---------- Previous post was at 11:43 ---------- JFYI, it could simply be that the printers USB port has packed up - I had that happen to me on a Xerox printer a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately it also had a network port so I now use that. |
Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
Have you tried changing the cable? Could be the input is working but output isnt

Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
In printers right click and select properties and then have a look for a maintenance or similar and see what it says perhaps print a test page or nozzle check to see if the printer works that way. Was it set default or has office took over (xps doc)
I did notice Quote:

Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
have you tried everything I said? there isnt a com problem and the driver is installed so unless its busted it shoudl be working
|
Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
Yes Zing I have tried everything you said, I am pretty sure it is not busted. It looks as though it is going to print, (that little square momentarily pops up) and then disappears and leave the notice saying printer cannot communicate with the computer, it then proceeds with a list of things to check i e the cables etc. I have tried c:\drivers\printer\1200, then 'set up', but when it comes to the bit about the driver, it can't find the driver in the destination I downloaded it to, that is My Downloads or Desktop wherever ( I have tried downloading to different destinations). If all that makes sense?

Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
hmmmmmm Try an uninstall and search for lexmark and delete any folders (leave them in the bin for now) Then go into regedit and back up your registry ,start run regedit. Then file export to file and save your registry. Then click edit and find and search for lexmark entries and delete all keys that have lexmark in them (at your own risk but you have backed up reg so you can recover) Once all lexmark references are gone try to install your vista ready driver (off a cd? or try the download or web install or whatever they offer)

Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
Tried everything, still not printing, but I can scan and edit photos, so will just have to content myself with that.:(
