Cinema rant - grrrr
 

Afternoon,

Went to the cinema yesterday - saw Harry Potter - Order of The Phoenix...

Sat in front of me and Ms Lee where a family of what was possibly chavs in training....

When they arrived we could smell the wife - a real bad case of BO...and she had real greasy hair.

The wife sat though the film making comments to herself like "Now you're in trouble Harry"...I can only assume she was talking to herself as the kids were trying to watch the film...

I looked at Ms Lee....Ms Lee look at me...oh dear - she's getting narked....

Then the wife gave a 4 second belch - at least I hope it was it was a belch.

Near the end the husband started to join in with a rousing shout of "I think the penny's dropped Harry!" - or something along those lines...

Why oh why can't people behave in cinemas...I went to there to watch a film - my memory of the film is the smelly woman in front of us.

Instead of those Orange ads telling you to turn off your mobile, perhaps they should have an ad telling people not to talk during the film!

Anybody else had a bad cinema experience?

every time which is why I dont bother anymore as the film reaches dvd in 3 months usually.

Good call - you can sit in your own living room with a tub of very reasonably priced popcorn and nice cool non-watered down coke, and you can pause the film if you need the bathroom.

It might just catch on... :)

I hate it when people tell you to shut up talking and all they do is talk during the film..... So flipping annoying.

We went to see Transformers yesterday and the kids with their dad behind us talked constantly throughout the film, I could just hear mumblings but poor Dilli got the full brunt of it. They had obviously seen it before as they were saying what was going to happen a couple of minutes beforehand. Why do the inconsiderate little gits do it, I wished I'd said something now but didn't really want to cause a scene :(

Call me Victor Meldrew, but next time it happens to me they are gonna get the full works - I'm not paying overpriced ticket prices (plus a booking fee*) to hear some chav talking...

* Booking fees: oh yeah - we booked online so we didn't have to line up with the chavs - but we have to pay £1.50 - errr - why? I'm not paying anybody's wages in order to produce the tickets for me - it's an automated system for **** sake!!!

its difficult to know what to do.normally a good stare or a stfu will do.my mate and i went recently to see die hard 4.0 and some one was talking like they do and he politely asked them to be quite when they didnt 5 mins later he just got up and sat next to the culprit.hes 6ft 7 and built like a ox.they didnt say another word.classic.i bought him a 12" weener the next time we went......

I have had cause to tell people to quiet down on several occasions in the cinema. One memorable time I actually had to get up and put my face in front of the idiot in question before I could get an acknowledgement from him that he would change his behaviour :dozey:

The problem that I find with the situation if I don't confront the inconsiderate idiot is that I'm seething with annoyance and not enjoying the film but if I do confront them then I'm hyped up and don't enjoy the film and I have to keep half an eye on the idiot in case he decides to try something....either way, the film is ruined....:(

problem nowadays if you tell the wrong person you might end up shot. Best way is to tell someone who works at the cinema and let them face em. The odeon I go to now has warning about inconsiderate behaviour. Problem though on Tuesday I went to see HP5 for a second time and some stupid woman took a crying baby now is it socially correct to confront such a person or would that look bad upon those confronting? although im sure such a small child would care care what was on

Now it's rather ironic that you should say that. I've read an article in a magazine recently (can't remember which) when I was waiting to be seen by my dentist. The article actually touched upon cinema behaviour (peanut IQ was used to describe offenders) and general attendances. The article also touched upon the fact that many distributors are moving towards producing DVD's and digital media only, as the cost of producing 35mm and Panavision (celluloid) media was becoming less cost effective. We may well see the demise of the cinema (as we know it) in the future - bad news for courting couples :luv: :hugs:

Personally (for me) going to the cinema is nothing more than an expensive waste of time as this particular post has already indicated by: behavioural issues, overpriced refreshments and to conclude - there's nothing worse than sitting cross-legged, bursting to go to the khazi near the end of the movie - not knowing when the end actually is! :disturbd:

To top it all, by the time you've (sort of) seen the movie, you'll only end up hiring the DVD so that you can watch it again (in peace) within the comfort of your own home.:) Strangely enough, when you weigh up the cost of taking the family to the cinema in relation to buying and owning a DVD it works out cheaper to buy the DVD.

It's swings and roundabouts. Yes, at home, you don't have to put up with little scrotes ruining the film, but, you do have to put up with a relatively small screen. Yes, you may have a 60 inch plasma, or a 5 foot projector screen, but even those aren't nearly as big as your average cinema screen. On the plus side, at home you can stop/start the film when you want. The refreshment thing isn't really an issue, as, in my experience, most cinemas don't stop you taking in your own. They can't, unless they do bag searches (OK, so the larger cinemas do this, but most don't.).

I don't think Cinema is going to die anytime soon. Yes, celluloid is relatively expensive, but a lot of cinemas are being upgraded with digital projectors that just use standard digital video files (usually WMV), which can be stored on disk (although current optical discs don't usually have enough storage).

mines 73 inch across the diagonal of a anamorphic 2.35 : 1 :) and if you sit at the right distance it perceives to be as big kinda lol ;) also my sounds better hehehehehehehe

x264 or HD WMV and CCCP codecs and a good old pc ;)

I reckon size v distance mine (screen) is as big as the cinema screen in Kendal I watched Shrek 3 on the other day. Plus since mine is digital it has no scratches on the print like the cinema version.
My popcorn is better plus I can get fresh chilled beers and also stop the film to pee :-)

Off to watch Simpson's the movie on it now.

I really do prefer seeing films in the cinema, The experance of going in, sitting down in front of the big screen and sound system and waiting for the film to start while watching trailers of other films you might want to see. You go with friends and the room is packed with other people who are sharing in the same experance. There is something special about seeing films in the cinema. Some of the uniqueness and fun is taken out of it when you download a film. Thats, if, you get a good quality version. I would prefere to have the film on DVD at the same time as cinema so I could watch the Simpsons Movie again.

Also, as far as i know, you cannnot get good quality versions of films to download anyway. There are always camera jobs expect in the rarest of files (correct me if i am wrong ;) )

The best cinema I've ever been in was in Leicester Square in London.It was a late afternoon/early evening session and the cinema was empty.It was bliss.We were sat at the back in the luxury seats.Cost me a small fortune but it was worth it.After an afternoon on my feet the seats were wonderfully comfortable.:tu:

We saw Sin City..Very good.

I think the problem is most people are used to seeing films from the comfort of their own armchairs at home, so they treat the cinema as an extension of their house.
