Problems getting on a certan site!!!
 

Hey

i have been trying to get a www.microdirect.co.uk for the last 3 days,everyone on Virgin media cannot get on this website but every other person i have asked have got on no problem at all.

Have you got any idea's what this could Be??

working fine here. Are you sure you dont have a program that is blocking the site???

Yeah i have checked all my program and i have even closed all firewall program and tryed it,sill no enjoy

What firewall? Some need to be stopped from loading and then the PC rebooted to get them out of the way. Just closing the process can actually cause more trouble.

I would'nt normally help a mag but here goes.

Goto Start then click Run, type cmd in the box and press enter.

In the black box type "ping www.microdirect.co.uk" or whatever it was and post the results back.

I lived in Cleadon for a long time.

Your DNS is OK, but the traffic is being blocked, probably at your router or firewall.

Now goto Start - Run, type cmd [press enter]

type "tracert www.microdirect.co.uk"

Post the results.

What type of router you got too.

Bit of a strange one that.

Could not access page from link, pinging page was fine but still would not display, googled microdirect.co.uk then asked google to display cached page, which came up fine, clicked Home from there which gave me http://www.microdirect.co.uk/home.aspx and works fine. Came back and tried link again and now it too works fine.

Have you tried specifying a proxy? this can sometimes help, they are still active in Hemel Hempstead.

Yeah i have tryed a proxy server and it worked but when i try my normal connection not though a proxy

I'd definetely say this is not a problem with your setup.

VM should probably be notified that there is either a device misconfiguration on 194.117.136.218 that is routing traffic to a bad device or one of the gateways connected to that device is down or bad.

You could probably help them solve the problem quicker if you sent them a copy of your tracert output, but I think at the moment they've got bigger things to worry about.

Im going to ring the Virginmedia tach support inthe mornign and see if there can get it to work

i just tried with my problem
i live in cambridgshire and cant get onto
www.wow-europe.com and i rang them. Ofcourse they wer indian .. which is fine but her accent was so strong i cudnt understand after about 20 mins and some lovely music she informed me it was not NTLs fault becuase if it was i wud not be able to get on the internet at all. and there gunna start chargin 25p a minute soon. WOOOO! cant wait.

i was on the phone to virgin to day and there are getting a techcian out on wednesday to sort out my problems and giving me a new modem and new cabling ,there all so said that my internet was running slow becos of an upgrade to the service.

i asked wat this upgrade was for and there said we are going to be upgrading all the 4mb connections to 10 mb so happy days
