Re: I was just wondering what ISP you guys have used

Was with Virgin Media for BB. Moved to Be. No reason, apart from the fact I already had a BT line and Be was cheaper.

U-Net and Wirenet back in the Amiga dial up days, BT dial up, and now NTL/Virgin Broadband on the PC.

Use VM/cable at home and Eclipse/ADSL at work - although this is only a resold BT wholesale product. For £19.95 they offer an 'up to 8 Mbps' service and free phone calls from the same line. Eclipse, now part of Kingston Telecom, offer an excellent service and I have no problems recommending them.

freeserve thats about it. then it was NTL all the way with firstly dial up and then broadband.

Daft it sounds we moan know about slow connections but by heck dial up was bad.

+ Screaming.Net (56K)
They were quite good and it was free after 6.00pm.
They later got taken over by WorldOnline and it became a disaster to connect and it was near impossible to get in contact with them.

+ NTL (56K)
The beginning of us joining NTL.

+ NTL Home Broadband (128K)
The beginning of us using cable. Gone were the days of dial up time outs and connections.

+ NTL Home Broadband (300K)

+ NTL Home Broadband (1MB)

+ NTL Home Broadband (2MB)

+ VirginMedia Broadband M (2MB)

I've used BT dail-up before, but in about 2003 we moved to NTL broadband, they've always upped the speed, so I don't know what we started off at with them.

Re: I was just wondering what ISP you guys have used

First broadband connection was Freeserve ADSL 512k truly unlimited. They offered to upgrade me to 8mbit for less money but with a 40gb cap, said no thanks. Only moved off that August last year although was at uni for 3 years so using OC3 circuits and 2-3 and 4mbit Telewest.

Re: I was just wondering what ISP you guys have used

We used BT for dialup but moved to LineOne because it was free after 6pm. Then had a BT ISDN line put in at the old house, but moved out of there a couple of years later. Made the move to broadband just after the turn of the century, went with the eurobell/Telewest 512k connection. Still with Virgin Media after another move of house and probably will be with them for the foreseeable future.

BT/Demon > BT/Freeserve > BT/Screaming.net and World Online > NTL/VM.

Re: I was just wondering what ISP you guys have used

Dial-Up Demon then RedHotAnt (Remember them! Unlimited 0800!! )

House Move.

Eclipse 256 -> 512 (back when they were good)

House Move.

NTL (2M -> 4M ) Eclipse had gone downhill by now and previous owner did something horrible to BT Line.

Now also have ADSL24 Adsl Max (at 3Mbps ).

Useful to have two different connections when working from home!
Would have dropped VM by now but I also have then Mobile Phone deal,
(Tariff will increase from £10 to £20 if I stop BB, and not really interested in
Cable TV - it's dire)
and just waiting to see if anything will happen to 4M in a couple of months..

[Just scanned others posts and I remember brief periods with IC24 and Screaming.net , probable a handful of other 0845 services too,
no loyalty in those days, but then stuck with RHA until its demise]
