are vm taking the p***?

hi on weds i had enough of bad pictures ect. from my v+ so rang cs got put through to cancellations and told them i wanted to cancel the tv part of my package.
i ordered sky hd at this point and away to go.
weds afternoon channels turned off and bb turned down to L.
on thursday i decided that i would give vm another go as i do like the service and dont really want sky unless its the last resort, telephened at 10am and explained that i will stay and cancel my sky install which was for monday.
of cause they were happy when i told them this i asked for my services to be resumed the nice lady said it could take up to 24 hrs, now i have heard this before but normally within a few hours things happen right? wrong!!!
at 18.45 i rang back and was told nothing was put through and it will take upto 24 hrs again! why? answer-not sure whats happening!
friday morning rang again to find out what the hell is happing 2 hrs on the phone and was told to ring back at 18.45 if the services are not back!
guess what? No services again so rang again and was told still not been sorted will take upto another 24 hrs!!!!!!
it is now saturday 7.12am and no services which is nearly 48 hrs and im wondering if i made a big mistake canceling the sky install roll on 8am because yet another call is going in and i pitty the person who picks up the phone because i have had just about enough now.
why the hell is this taking so long?

sorry about the long rant but needed to vent my frustration as i am boiling over now.

I would be annoyed as well. VM really need to sort out the amount of time it takes for the channels to appear (or in your case re-appear). Why does it take so long?

Re: are vm taking the p***?

add to that they have asked me 3 times now IF i have the boxes installed or am i waiting for them to be installed as a job card is raised saying i dont have them!
3 mins to go i can feel a calm tab coming!

That just isn't good.

Expect a PM from a mod, they may be able to help you get the problem resolved, although after that I'm not sure if I would want to go back to VM.

Re: are vm taking the p***?

Package changes shouldn't take 24 hours. They are mostly instant unless there's a problem with the signals, which is rare and they'd know about.

If you PM me your account details, I can escalate it with our contact with VM.

Can't quite see the problem - you cancelled the service, and that's what they did.

But he then rang them back to reactivate them and then it took till Saturday for them to come on, nearly 3 days for something that should have been same day!

Austin,

Which EX network are you on???? Ntl or TW????

We've been on TW for a few years, most times I can phone up and be re-activated within the hour :)

Re: are vm taking the p***?

When I returned to VM in December after being with Sky for a year it took about 24hrs for all the channels to appear. Thats why I said in my earlier post VM ought to sort this out as it is frustrating as a new or returning customer to have to wait that long. Judging by the replies in this thread though the experience Austin and I had isn't typical.
BTW when they changed my box to a V+ in January I thought I was in for another long wait for the channels but IIRC they were their right away.

I personally only see one person to blame for this and thats yourself.

Yes i may sound like a jackass but its your own indecisiveness that caused the problem.

I mean why cancel it all then call back the following day and change your mind?

Or were you just trying to make idle threats to haggle for a better deal and it back fired lol

first things first im on a very good deal with vm how i managed to get it i don't know even the cs people are amazed so you are way off my friend!

now i do belive its my choice on who i sign up with be it vm or sky if i want to cancel my tv with vm and then change my mind thats my choice!

i have given them the benefit of trying to sort out picture issues by resigning and cancelled sky again my choice nobody elses!

how in the hell do reckon its my fault that it took them over 48hrs to switch the channels back on?

this is how it works, hit to box dose not come through -we will send tech- if lucky -tech arrives tech phones /text- office ,dummy swap done on box -channels appear if lucky- if not swap box- still dont appear -tech passes to back office after that dont know:confused:

Actually, Virgin are still at fault, because they normally want 30 days notice to leave a service, so they shouldn't have removed the channels..

Not as far as I know. When I rang up to cancel mine they did it there and then (as expected). Sky are the same.

Well, when I cancelled BB recently, I had to give 30 days notice.

as you pay 30 days in advance you give 30 days notice as with SKY.
If you request immediate disc VM or SKY will of course oblige as you have already paid for the service.

Sure it is, but when you mess two companies about like this don't be surprised when you end up on the bottom of their to-do lists.

From my experience with Virgin media it seems many good and loyal customers are at the bottom of their list. :-)

I am a VM supporter Horace but I cant agree with you on this point. Every customer deserves A1 service.

I totally agree with you... every customer deserves A1 service. But my recent experience has left doubtful.

I tried to contact VM last Monday by telephone but was unable to get through to the relevent department. So I sent them a web response to which I received 2 emails saying they'd be in touch in 24 to 48 hours.

Now it's 5 working days later (7 if you count the weekend) and no response from them whatever. And if you combine that with the fact that I have no telephone service (due to a fault) with them at all... it doesn't make them look at all good.

Tim
